Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : THE DAY OF AWAKENING

The morning arrived quietly, yet there was an unspoken tension in the air that made everything feel different. The sky was clear, the sunlight soft, but beneath that calm surface, excitement spread across the city like an invisible wave. Today was not an ordinary day. It was the day that would decide countless futures.

He stood at the entrance of his school, his gaze resting on the massive gates before him. The name engraved above shimmered under the morning light—Haneul Arcane Academy—one of the most prestigious institutions in the surrounding region, known for producing powerful awakeners and exceptional talents. For many, stepping into this place on this day meant stepping into a new life.

"…So this is it," he murmured softly.

Students gathered in groups, their voices filled with anticipation, nervousness, and excitement. Some laughed to hide their anxiety, while others stood silently, lost in their own thoughts. Every single one of them knew that after today, nothing would remain the same.

As he stepped inside, the vastness of the academy became even more apparent. The corridors led toward a grand hall, far larger than anything used for regular classes. That was where the ceremony would take place.

The Awakening Hall.

When he entered, the sight before him was overwhelming. Hundreds of students had already gathered, filling the space with restless energy. At the center stood a raised platform, and upon it rested a single object—a crystal sphere, faintly glowing, radiating an aura that felt both ancient and profound.

"…So that's the awakening medium," he thought, observing it carefully.

"Hey!"

A voice suddenly called out, breaking his focus.

He turned slightly to see a group waving at him from a distance. Familiar faces. His friends.

"Over here!"

He walked toward them calmly as they began talking immediately.

"You're finally here."

"Today's the big day, don't mess it up."

"Yeah, try not to faint before your turn."

A faint smile appeared on his face. Their tone was casual, light, yet beneath it was genuine support.

"I'll manage," he replied simply.

They laughed, though the tension in their expressions didn't fully disappear.

Soon, the ceremony began.

One by one, names were called. Students stepped forward, placing their hands on the crystal sphere as it responded to their presence.

"F Rank."

"E Rank."

"D Rank."

The results appeared steadily. Most awakenings were ordinary, some granting simple abilities suited for daily life—minor elemental control, physical enhancements, or utility-based skills. Nothing extraordinary, nothing that would change the balance of power.

Occasionally, someone awakened a combat-oriented ability—basic magic, weapon affinity, or physical reinforcement. These drew slightly more attention, whispers spreading through the hall, but they were still within expectations.

Then came something rare.

"Dual Awakening… C Rank."

Murmurs spread immediately. Two abilities at once. Even at a lower rank, it was considered special.

"…So it's already starting," he thought quietly.

The atmosphere gradually intensified as stronger results appeared. A few B Ranks. Then—

"A Rank."

A wave of reactions followed. Applause, admiration, envy. That level alone was enough to secure a promising future.

Then another. And another. The ceremony continued, building momentum.

Until—

A name was called.

"Han Seoyun."

The moment it echoed through the hall, the atmosphere changed instantly.

Whispers erupted.

"That's her…"

"She's the one who fought instructors without awakening."

"I heard she won."

"She's definitely going to be the top this year."

"Yeah. She is powerful. Because she belongs to the Han family. One of the great powerhouse of this state. So it's normal for her to awaken A or atleast S rank. Given her family background and the resources they provided to her."

All eyes turned toward the front as a girl stepped forward calmly. Her movements were composed, her expression unwavering, as if the attention meant nothing to her.

She didn't rush.

Didn't hesitate.

She simply walked.

"…So that's her," he observed quietly.

There was no need for explanation. The presence alone made it clear.

She reached the platform and placed her hand on the crystal sphere.

For a brief moment, Nothing happened. Then—The sphere erupted with light. A surge of energy burst outward, forcing everyone to instinctively step back.

The glow intensified, splitting into multiple streams, intertwining as if responding to something extraordinary.

The air itself seemed to tremble.

"…Three…?" someone whispered.

The light stabilized, revealing distinct patterns.

Magic.

Sword.

Bloodline.

Triple Awakening.

A phenomenon rarely seen.

Then—

"SS Rank."

Silence fell. Complete silence. For a second, no one reacted, as if their minds refused to process what they had just witnessed.

Then the hall exploded into chaos.

"SS Rank?!"

"Triple awakening?!"

"That's insane!"

The pressure in the air felt heavier, almost suffocating. This wasn't just talent. This was something beyond normal standards.

Before the noise could settle, two figures suddenly appeared near the platform—a man and a woman, both radiating an aura far beyond ordinary awakeners. Their presence alone silenced the crowd once again.

They approached her directly.

"Impressive," the man said, his voice calm yet filled with approval. "Join us. Your future will surpass anything this place can offer."

The woman beside him smiled slightly. "With your talent, you shouldn't remain here."

All eyes were on her.

But Han Seoyun simply looked at them for a moment before speaking.

"I already have a path."

Her tone was calm. Firm. Unshaken. She stepped back without another word. The two figures exchanged a glance before disappearing as suddenly as they had arrived.

The hall remained silent for a moment longer before the ceremony resumed. Time passed. More awakenings followed. A few A Ranks. And then—

"S Rank."

Another wave of shock, though not as intense as before. Still, it confirmed one thing. This generation—Was different.

The Golden Era had truly begun.

Then—A name was called.

"…Lee Hyun."

For a brief moment, his thoughts paused. That's right, this is his name in this world. Lee Hyun. Then he stepped forward.

Behind him, his friends' voices rang out.

"Go!"

"Don't mess it up!"

"Just do your best!"

A faint smile touched his lips as he walked toward the platform. His steps were steady, his mind calm, yet something deep within him stirred.

He reached the sphere. Placed his hand on it. And focused. Not blindly. But completely. He poured everything into that single moment.

Then—The world changed. His vision went dark. Silence surrounded him. When he opened his eyes again, he was no longer in the hall.

He stood in a vast, empty space, as if isolated from everything else.

"…What is this…?"

Before he could think further—A voice echoed.

"Host detected."

His body froze.

"Initializing system."

His eyes widened slightly.

"…So it's now. Finnally..."

"Congratulations, host. You have achieved SSS Rank awakening through inherent potential."

The voice continued, emotionless yet absolute.

"Reward granted: Login System."

"Reward granted: Newbie Perks."

Everything trembled. Then—He was pulled back. His vision snapped into place. The hall. The crowd. The platform. Everything returned in an instant. But— Nothing was the same.

The crystal sphere blazed with a light far greater than before, overwhelming, unstoppable, as if it refused to be contained.

Gasps echoed.

Shock spread like wildfire.

"SSS Rank…"

"…Impossible…"

"…Another one…"

He stood there, unmoving, as countless eyes locked onto him. One of the very few. A being standing at the peak of this generation. A Heaven's Chosen.

Someone who—Could wield every path. A faint breath escaped his lips as his mind slowly settled.

"So... The true journey begins."
