c10: Super Hypnosis, the Fearful Bullseye
Bullseye is a very talented person.
In Marvel Comics canon, Bullseye whose real name is Lester possesses near-superhuman accuracy, often described as perfect aim. To say his throwing ability is a superpower wouldn't be an exaggeration.
After all, an ordinary person couldn't replicate feats like his killing targets with paper clips, toothpicks, or even playing cards, something even Hawkeye acknowledges as extraordinary skill rather than normal human capability.
But even with such terrifying precision and combat experience, he had, of course, never seen an ability like Karl's, which could emit energy beams from his eyes—something far closer to Superman's Heat Vision from DC Comics than anything in his own world.
But now, Bullseye couldn't care about being surprised.
Instead, he was screaming in pain.
Originally, even with a dagger and two darts stuck in his hand, it was very painful.
But he still forcibly endured the urge to scream.
After all, Bullseye could be said to be a veteran of countless battles.
Being a mercenary, assassin, and enforcer under Kingpin wasn't for nothing.
However, this time he truly couldn't endure it.
His entire arm was directly dissolved at the molecular level by Heat Vision something comparable to Kryptonian-level energy projection, how could he possibly bear that?
Karl stopped his Heat Vision attack.
He stepped on Bullseye's mouth, directly silencing him.
Maintaining that posture, he looked down at Bullseye pinned against the wall.
Karl said indifferently, "Quiet down, understand?"
He wasn't just speaking, he was also using Super Hypnosis.
This ability, derived from the Silver Superman template, functioned similarly to advanced Kryptonian hypnotic suggestion, instantly overriding Bullseye's will.
In some continuities, even Superman has demonstrated forms of mental influence, but Karl's version was far more direct and absolute.
Instantly, Bullseye's expression changed.
He looked at Karl and nodded repeatedly, his expression turning submissive.
As if he were facing his own master.
Karl removed his foot. "Tell me, what are you doing at my Bar?"
At this time, Bullseye took several deep breaths.
Only then could he barely suppress the urge to scream.
The pain was overwhelming, far beyond anything he had endured before.
He said tremblingly, "Kingpin sent me."
"Kingpin?"
Karl was slightly surprised, though not concerned.
After all, even at his peak, Kingpin was still only a peak human, someone physically comparable to enhanced fighters like Captain America at best.
Such a figure posed no threat to someone with Kryptonian-level abilities.
"What did he send you to do?"
"He said... he said this Bar will be his in two days."
"He told me to bring my men to familiarize ourselves with the territory in advance."
"Heh."
Karl let out a soft laugh.
"Take your people and get out immediately. Or else, face the consequences."
After speaking, Karl released the Super Hypnosis.
Then he ignored Bullseye completely.
He walked toward Skye.
In the next instant, the figures of the two vanished moving at speeds far beyond human perception, much like a speed-blitz performed by Kryptonians or even Flash in lower-speed moments.
"Huff... huff... huff..."
Bullseye leaned against the wall and slid down weakly.
He gasped for air.
Even now, his mind was still in chaos.
He couldn't understand what had just happened.
That rich second-generation kid he had looked down on—
Could actually catch his projectiles, move faster than he could perceive, and fire destructive beams from his eyes.
This was no longer within the realm of human understanding.
It was something closer to the beings he had only heard about in rumors—cosmic entities and superhumans.
Meanwhile, the pain in his missing arm continued to throb violently.
Bullseye glanced at the charred, dissolved stump.
At this point, he had no choice but to believe everything.
Moreover, after the other party destroyed his arm…
Why did he let him go?
"Fuck... what bad luck."
After a long while, Bullseye struggled to his feet, cursing under his breath.
He took out his phone and called his subordinates in the Bar.
He ordered them to leave immediately.
After all, those were Karl's exact words.
If he disobeyed… Bullseye had no doubt he would die.
What Bullseye didn't know—
Was that the only reason he was still alive…
Was because of Skye.
If Karl had been alone, he would have eliminated Bullseye without hesitation just like many ruthless enforcers in both Marvel Comics and DC Comics deal with threats decisively.
But Skye was still an ordinary person.
She wasn't yet Quake, nor had she joined S.H.I.E.L.D..
Karl didn't want her to witness something so brutal.
So he let Bullseye live… for now.
After all, sooner or later, he would settle accounts with Kingpin.
---
On the other side, Karl and Skye returned to the Bar.
Karl ordered two glasses of wine.
Then, leaning against the counter, he calmly watched the lively crowd on the dance floor.
Skye, however, kept staring at him.
Suddenly, Karl turned his head and smiled lightly, "What's wrong? Am I that good-looking?"
"Don't be so full of yourself!"
Skye snorted, turning her head away.
But after a while, curiosity got the better of her.
She looked back at Karl, her eyes filled with confusion and disbelief.
"Do you really… have superpowers?"
Karl joked, "Superpowers? Of course, don't you know I'm very rich?"
Skye rolled her eyes at him, "I mean the one from just now, the ability to make your eyes glow."
"Otherwise? You saw it with your own eyes just now."
"Alright."
Skye nodded upon hearing this; it was indeed so.
Although it was unbelievable, she had seen it with her own eyes.
Karl had used Heat Vision, an ability almost identical to Superman to directly dissolve Bullseye's arm.
Even in Marvel Comics, such power was far beyond the level of street-tier fighters.
"Then what superpowers do you have?"
"Many. Flight, super speed, super strength, bio-electric aura.basically a bio-force field and more."
"It's pretty much like that Superman in the comics."
Karl didn't hide anything and gave a rough description of his abilities.
In truth, what he possessed wasn't just similar, it was essentially a Kryptonian template, comparable to a fully empowered Superman under a yellow sun, something that would place him far above most heroes like Captain America or even rivaling higher-tier beings depending on mastery.
"Superman? Isn't that super powerful?"
Skye asked curiously, "Then can you take me flying?"
After all, humanity's dream of flight had never stopped.
Now that there was a chance, Skye naturally wanted to experience it.
"Sure," Karl smiled and finished the wine in his hand.
Then, he gently wrapped his arm around Skye's waist.
Their figures disappeared from Smiths Bar.
Almost at the same time karl and Skye appeared high in the sky above New York.
Looking at the shrinking city below, Skye's eyes widened with excitement as she let out a cheerful shout.
The wind rushed past them, yet Karl's bio-force field shielded her perfectly, just like how Kryptonians protect others while flying.
Soon, the two landed atop the Empire State Building.
This iconic structure stood over four hundred meters tall, once the tallest building in the world, and remained one of the most recognizable landmarks in the United States.
From here, the entire city stretched out beneath them like a sea of lights.
Feeling the night breeze, Skye's mood lifted instantly.
Seeing her so happy, Karl couldn't help but smile.
"Want to step away for a moment?" he asked.
"Hmm? Why?"
"You'll see."
Without further explanation, Karl wrapped his arm around her again.
In the next instant, they vanished, only to reappear inside Karl's home.
He casually grabbed two glasses and a bottle of red wine.
Then, in another blink they were back atop the Empire State Building.
Karl opened the wine, poured two glasses, and handed one to Skye.
Skye smiled brightly and raised her glass.
"Cheers!"
After drinking, a faint blush appeared on her cheeks.
Slightly tipsy, she leaned forward and took the initiative to kiss Karl.
Karl returned the kiss.
Moments later, their figures vanished again.
This time, Karl felt it was about time to head back to Skye's place, after all, the quality of the newly bought bed still needed… further testing.
…
Three hours later.
Karl looked at Skye, who was already asleep, and quietly got up to head to the bathroom.
Well, the newly purchased bed was indeed sturdy.
As expected, you get what you pay for.
After washing up, Karl activated his Super Vision.
His gaze pierced through buildings, streets, and distance, scanning across the city like a living satellite.
Soon, he found his target.
Bullseye.
At this moment, Bullseye was standing at a pier.
Around him were dozens of men in black suits, clearly members of Kingpin's criminal empire.
Their presence alone carried an oppressive atmosphere.
Not far away, parked beside the dock, was a luxury limousine.
Inside sat a massive bald man.
Over two meters tall, his body was packed with dense muscle, giving him the appearance of a human tank—far beyond ordinary physique.
This man was none other than the underground emperor of New York
Kingpin.
