Chapter 15 - CHAPTER 15: The Night That Changed Everything

The party was loud, expensive, and meaningless.

Music pulsed through the penthouse, vibrating against glass walls that overlooked the glittering city below. Laughter mixed with the clink of glasses, bodies moving freely under dim lights as if nothing in the world could touch them.

Soo-Min stepped inside like she always did—effortless, confident, untouchable.

"This better not be boring," she muttered, slipping a glass from a passing tray.

Her friend rolled her eyes. "You say that every time."

"Because it's always true."

She took a sip, her gaze drifting lazily across the room. Familiar faces. Fake smiles. People trying too hard.

Nothing new.

Nothing interesting.

Until—

That feeling returned.

Subtle at first.

Then sharper.

Like a quiet hand pressing against the back of her neck.

She stilled.

Her eyes shifted.

And that's when she saw him.

Standing near the balcony.

Watching her.

Not smiling.

Not moving.

Just watching.

Her grip on the glass tightened slightly.

"Do you know him?" her friend asked.

Soo-Min didn't look away. "No."

But he didn't look away either.

And something about that made her uneasy.

Across the city, Jae-Hyun's phone buzzed.

He glanced at it, distracted at first.

Then his expression changed.

A location.

No name.

No explanation.

Just coordinates.

But he recognized the building immediately.

His jaw tightened.

Then another message came.

She didn't listen.

Something cold settled in his chest.

He didn't think.

Didn't question.

He was already moving.

Back at the penthouse, the music suddenly felt too loud.

Too sharp.

Soo-Min shifted slightly, scanning the room again.

The man was gone.

But the feeling remained.

Stronger now.

Closer.

"You're thinking too much," her friend said, pulling her arm.

Soo-Min forced a small smile. "Yeah… maybe."

But her eyes kept moving.

Searching.

Not relaxed anymore.

---

Her phone buzzed.

Unknown number.

Again.

She hesitated before opening it.

Leave now.

Her heart skipped.

Not panic.

Not yet.

But something wasn't right.

She looked up.

And this time—

She noticed it.

The exits.

Not blocked completely.

But controlled.

Men she didn't recognize stood near them, still, watching, not part of the party.

Her breathing slowed.

Not calm.

Careful.

"This isn't normal," she whispered.

"I think I should go," she said suddenly.

Her friend frowned. "What? Why?"

"I just—"

The music cut.

Instantly.

No fade.

No warning.

Just silence.

It hit the room like a shock.

People stopped.

Turned.

Not confused.

Not surprised.

Like they knew.

Soo-Min's stomach dropped.

"You should have listened."

The voice came from behind her.

Low.

Close.

She turned slowly.

.

The man from the balcony stood there now.

Right in front of her.

Her pulse quickened.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, her voice steady, but tighter than before.

He studied her, almost curious.

"You really don't know anything," he said quietly.

That—

That made something cold settle deep inside her.

"Move," she said, trying to step past him.

His hand caught her wrist.

Firm.

Unyielding.

Her breath hitched.

"Too late," he murmured.

The lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

.

Then the room shifted

Not chaos.

Control.

Doors closing.

People moving with purpose.

Voices rising, but not panicked.

Organized.

Planned.

Soo-Min pulled against his grip. "Let go."

He didn't.

For the first time in a long time—

Fear crept in.

Real fear.

The elevator doors slid open.

Jae-Hyun stepped out.

The noise, the movement, the tension—it all hit him at once.

His eyes scanned the room in a single sweep.

Too many unfamiliar faces.

Too much control.

This wasn't random.

It was set up.

His gaze darkened.

And then he saw her.

Across the room.

Held in place.

Something inside him snapped.

Not controlled.

Not calculated.

Raw.

Soo-Min saw him too.

Relief hit instantly, sharp enough to make her breath catch.

"Jae—"

The word didn't finish.

Because the grip on her wrist tightened.

"Let her go."

Jae-Hyun's voice cut through the silence.

Cold.

Deadly.

Final.

Every movement in the room paused.

The man holding Soo-Min didn't look impressed.

Instead, he smiled faintly.

"So you came."

Jae-Hyun stepped forward slowly, his eyes locked on him.

"I said let her go."

The air shifted.

Danger thickened.

For the first time—

This wasn't about curiosity.

Or distances.

Or watching from the shadows.

This was direct.

And everyone in that room knew—

Things had just crossed a line that couldn't be undone
