Chapter 516 - Chapter Five Hundred Sixteen: The Keeper's Wedding

Chapter Five Hundred Sixteen: The Keeper's Wedding

Luna and Claire decided to get married on a Sunday.

They had talked about it for years—lazy mornings on the porch swing, late nights in the garden, quiet moments when the weight of the constellation felt lighter than usual. But there was always another letter to read. Another stone to place. Another story to tell.

"We can't wait forever," Claire said.

Luna looked at her. "Are you proposing?"

Claire smiled. "I'm asking. Will you marry me?"

Luna laughed. "Yes. Obviously yes."

Claire kissed her. "Good. Now let's tell the garden."

---

They set the date for the spring equinox—the day when light and dark were balanced, when the roses were just beginning to bloom, when the world felt full of possibility.

The garden prepared itself.

The stones were washed. The glass cases were polished. The roses were pruned and watered and encouraged to bloom a little early.

Visitors came from everywhere.

Samira came, carrying a new batch of letters she had found in her basement. Noor came, with photographs of her grandmother and Fatima. Helen came, Margaret's daughter. Tessa came, with her grandmother's letters. Leo came. Irene came. Sophie came. Alex came, with Caleb beside him.

They filled the garden. They sat on blankets and chairs and the porch swing. They drank tea and ate cake and told stories.

Luna stood at the front of the garden, wearing a simple white dress. Claire stood beside her, wearing a suit the color of roses.

"We're here today to celebrate love," Luna said. "Not the love that crosses streets. Not the love that writes letters. Just love. Simple love. The kind that holds your hand in the dark."

She looked at Claire.

"I love you," Luna said. "I've loved you since I found your letters. I've loved you since I crossed the street. I will love you until the stars burn out."

Claire took her hands.

"I love you too," Claire said. "I've loved you since I was afraid to say it. I've loved you since I wrote it down. I will love you forever."

---

They exchanged rings—simple bands, engraved with the constellation's stars.

"You may kiss the bride," someone called.

Claire kissed Luna.

The garden erupted in applause.

The roses swayed. The stones glowed. The stars—even in the daylight—seemed to shine a little brighter.

---

That night, Luna wrote in her notebook.

Today I got married. Claire is my wife now. She has always been my wife. But now the world knows.

We stood in the garden. We said our vows. We kissed in front of everyone.

The constellation was there. All of them. The stones. The letters. The stories. Everyone we have ever helped cross.

I am not just the keeper anymore. I am a wife. I am loved. I am home.

The constellation keeps growing. And so does my heart.

The Garden Beyond

The first Lina sat on her bench beneath the apple tree.

She was wearing a white dress—not the one she had worn at her wedding to Ethan, but a new one, one that seemed to have grown from the roses themselves.

"She got married," the first Lina said.

Margaret Thorne nodded.

"In the garden," Margaret said.

Eleanor Whitmore smiled.

"Where she belongs," Eleanor said.

Helena Brooks took the first Lina's hand.

"Love wins," Helena said. "It always wins."

The first Lina looked at the stars—at the thousands of lights scattered across the sky, at the millions of stories still waiting to be told.

"The constellation keeps growing," the first Lina said.

Margaret squeezed her hand.

"Because of love," Margaret said.

Eleanor nodded.

"Always because of love," Eleanor said.
