Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: The First Trial of a Broken Mind

The moment Neuro fully stepped into the sealed field the environment changed completely the mist that had seemed passive from the outside revealed its true nature it was not simple vapor but compressed mana suspended in unstable layers each movement within it caused distortion as if space itself resisted coherence the ground beneath his feet felt inconsistent not physically unstable but conceptually incomplete as if "solid" was only partially defined within this space

He took one more step forward

The pressure multiplied instantly

Not gradually

Not predictably

It spiked

His body reacted immediately muscles tightened bones strained internal mana surged to stabilize structure but the force was not targeting his body alone it pressed against his perception his thoughts his ability to process information

"Interesting…"

The word formed in his mind not as reaction but as observation

He did not step back

He stepped forward again

The pressure increased again violently this time his vision blurred slightly for a fraction of a second his internal flow destabilized and a sharp pain ran through his body

Most would retreat

Most would stop

Neuro did not

Instead… he closed his eyes

Not to escape

…but to remove unnecessary input

The moment darkness replaced vision his perception shifted inward he began isolating the pressure identifying patterns within the chaos instead of resisting it directly he allowed part of it to enter his internal flow analyzing its structure its rhythm its fluctuations

The result was immediate

Pain increased

Sharply

Violently

His internal system rejected the foreign mana causing disruption across multiple channels

A normal mind would classify this as danger

A trained mind would retreat

Neuro… continued

"Not random…" he thought calmly

His breathing slowed even as pressure intensified

"This is structured… layered…"

He took another step

The ground beneath him distorted slightly and for a brief moment reality itself seemed to misalign
