The sun was just beginning to set when Jin-Hyuk pulled up in front of a grand mansion nestled within a peaceful neighbourhood—an estate with manicured lawns, tall trees swaying gently in the breeze, and a wide driveway leading up to the elegant front door.
This was his gift to his family, a symbol of hope and stability amid the chaos of their world.
Jin-Hyuk stepped out of his car, turning to look at his family behind him. His mother's eyes widened in awe, her hand covering her mouth, while Jin-Soo's face lit up with excitement. The boy's eyes darted around, taking in every detail of the luxurious surroundings.
"Wow… this is… this is amazing," Jin-Soo said, clutching Jin-Hyuk's arm. "It's like a castle!"
Jin-Hyuk smiled softly. "It's ours now. We're going to live here — all together."
His mother looked overwhelmed, tears brimming in her eyes, but she nodded quietly. "You've done so much for us. We're grateful, Jin-Hyuk."
He reached out and gently took her hand. "This is just the beginning. I want us to be safe, happy, and together — no matter what happens out there."
With that, Jin-Hyuk opened the front door, which swung open smoothly to reveal a spacious, beautifully decorated interior. The walls were adorned with tasteful artwork, and the floors gleamed under the warm lighting. It was a far cry from their previous modest home, but it felt like a sanctuary.
They stepped inside, and Jin-Soo's eyes immediately locked onto the backyard. "Look at that pool!" he exclaimed, rushing toward the back door that led outside.
Jin-Hyuk followed, smiling at his brother's wide-eyed fascination. The backyard was heavenly, featuring a large, crystal-clear pool surrounded by stone tiles and greenery. Jin-Soo jumped in place, excitedly splashing water with his hands.
"Can I swim in it now?" Jin-Soo asked eagerly.
"Of course," Jin-Hyuk replied. "...we're going to enjoy this place — all of us."
His mother watched her children with a tender smile, then turned to Jin-Hyuk. "...It's beautiful. Your father would be proud of you."
Jin-Hyuk's chest tightened at her words. His father had always dreamed of giving his family a better life, and though Jin-Hyuk hadn't known him long, he felt the weight of that legacy. "I just want to protect you all..," he said softly. "...that's all that matters now."
They moved inside again, ascending the grand staircase to the upper floors. Jin-Soo ran back indoor, water dripping from his body. His eyes grew even wider as he explored his new bedroom — a large space with a high ceiling, a plush bed, and windows that looked out over the neighborhood.
"Wow," Jin-Soo whispered, running his hand over the soft sheets. "This is the coolest room ever."
Jin-Hyuk chuckled. "You can have the biggest room in the house. I want you to be comfortable here."
Their mother looked around, still overwhelmed by the splendor. "It's more than we could have hoped for."
They gathered in the spacious dining room, where Jin-Hyuk had prepared a simple but hearty meal. The aroma of grilled meat and fresh vegetables filled the air, and they sat together around a large wooden table.
The evening passed in warmth and laughter. They shared stories of their past, dreams for the future, and Jin-Hyuk's plans to keep them safe from the threats lurking outside. For a moment, the world's darkness seemed distant, overshadowed by the love and hope filling the house.
After dinner, Jin-Hyuk excused himself. He needed to prepare for his next quest. His family watched him go with quiet understanding, knowing the path he had chosen wasn't an easy one — a path that often led into danger, but also toward greater purpose.
He stepped into his own room, his hand brushing over the system interface, bringing up his inventory and quest list. He knew the next challenge was near — more monsters, more mysteries, and perhaps even more celestial truths waiting to be uncovered.
As he sat on the edge of his bed, Jin-Hyuk took a deep breath. He looked around the room — the quiet hum of the house, the distant sound of Jin-Soo's laughter outside, the peaceful neighbourhood. This was the life he fought for.
