I wish I had woken up next to the warmth I had slept beside. I slowly opened my heavy eyes, adjusting to the dim environment, and silently began assessing the room.
The space was mostly dark, save for the faint, cool morning light streaming in through the half-opened windows, catching the dancing dust motes in the air.
I sat up slowly, the silence of the house broken only by the muffled, rhythmic sounds of heavy lifting coming from downstairs.
Pushing the blanket aside, the leg chain caught the light immediately and my cheeks flushed before I could stop them.
Then her words came back.
'I want to start all over again.'
'Date me.'
We were dating now. Isla and I were actually dating. Who would have thought?
Moving with a newfound, light energy, I reached for the silky bathrobe I had left draped over the nearby chair and slipped it on. Shit, I hadn't brought any of my own clothes here yet.
