Chapter 129 - Chapter 2 Mordred: This is not the vicious woman I know!

Houses with complete corners, clean and tidy bedding, and small, rounded tables and chairs.

Looking at everything before them, the children simultaneously looked up at Big Sister Mordred, who had brought them into this three-story building.

"Can we really live here? And can we use everything here freely?" a child couldn't help but ask.

"Yeah, of course you can." Mordred nodded and replied, "Later, homunculus big brothers or big sisters will come to teach you some basic life skills. You can choose which room you want to live in before they arrive; each room can hold two to three people."

Having so many people in one room wasn't because Camelot was short on housing, but because Daniel, considering the vigilance and fear these children felt toward unfamiliar environments after years of persecution since birth, had made this suggestion.

Huddling together for warmth—a standard operation for intelligent life forms.

"Um, may I ask, did you bring us here because you want us to fight the Gastrea?" a silver-haired little girl with bandages wrapped around her eyes asked, trembling slightly. "If that's the case, could you just let me go? My little sister is still young and isn't suited for battle."

"It's not to make you fight." Mordred scratched her head, frowning in annoyance. "I just hope you can grow up healthy and happy here like normal children, that's all. As for fighting the Gastrea, that's something for me and the adults to do."

The little girl who had previously said that Mordred's gaze didn't make her feel afraid suddenly raised her hand.

"Big Sister Mordred, are you very strong?"

"Oh! I'm super strong!" Mordred clenched her fist, and the sound of air bursting erupted from her palm, startling the few little girls present.

"She seems really amazing..." A few little girls who had remained silent all along looked at Mordred with a bit more approval in their eyes.

"Also, don't think life here will be all sunshine and rainbows. Once you gradually adapt to living here, we will designate your future life focus based on what you are good at and your hobbies."

"Those who like to study can go to school; those who don't can only choose between 'farming' and 'housekeeping.' After all, we can't just let you sit around and eat through our supplies," Mordred reminded them.

"Farming? Can people like us go farming?" a little girl asked nervously. "Aren't you worried that our blood will contaminate the soil and cause the crops we grow to be infected with the virus?"

"I'm not really sure about that, but those people should have countermeasures later," Mordred replied, scratching her hair. "However, while it's called farming, for the first half-year, we'll only have you try it out. After all, the food that guy collected is enough for millions of little ones like you to eat for a year or two."

Mordred was quite confident in Morgan's abilities.

"Oh right, later a woman dressed in pitch-black, wearing a black veil, who gives off a bad vibe, will come to give you a physical checkup and confirm if the shroud of turin can inhibit the activity of the gastrula virus in your bodies. Remember to tell her how you feel when the time comes." Mordred's tone had improved a lot without her realizing it.

Perhaps it was because the dozen or so children in front of her were all obedient and well-behaved, with not a single brat among them, that she had softened up a bit without realizing it.

After all, the people who hate brats the most in this world are other brats.

After leaving the building that was about to become the residence for the dozen or so little girls, Mordred looked up at the highest point of the palace not far away.

A woman with cat ears and a cat tail was currently standing there, armed with a bow and arrow, performing guard duty.

"No wonder that guy refused to let Atalanta leave Camelot no matter what. If she went out, I'm afraid the next day some armed force would come looking for revenge under the guise of capturing a terrorist murderer."

Thinking back to the scenes she had seen when she rescued those children, Mordred pursed her lips with an ugly expression and muttered.

She even felt a bit of regret that she had returned the kings sword too early.

Forget it, anyway, it's not easy to ask Father King for the sword again now, so I might as well go back and continue being a child transporter with Aura.

At this time, on the other side of Camelot, Daniel was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and a straw hat, helping the homunculus organize the farmland.

"If only I had a blessing of harvest right now, that would be great." Daniel knocked on his slightly numb lower back and sighed.

[Log 14: Working Warrior: Savior of the children. You set out after accepting the children's plea for help, and your good deeds will surely be rewarded in the end. While the gastrula virus brings a ruinous end to the children, it also grants them powerful talents. With the ruinous end excluded, are you interested in these talents? Reward: Based on the types of Gastrea genes in the children you have saved, you will receive bonuses to various physical stats. As long as you save enough children, besides not being able to fly, you can basically become a little Superman. PS1: As for flying. To borrow the words of a certain bald big shot... Heh, how could humans possibly fly. PS2: Perhaps this is your chance to lose your virginity? In any case, please seize the opportunity!]

[Log 15: Gacha Player ability activated. 'world-ending horn', from a certain careless, game-addicted useless angel, please be prepared for the horn to disappear briefly on school mornings and the first day of the New Year. Note: If you want to restore the fertility of the land, perhaps you can try blowing it. Of course, before blowing it, please do not stand on the ground yourself, or climb as high as possible to the top of Mount Everest. After all, the flood follows the horn, not the orders.]

[Log 16: Congratulations on establishing a 'City' in the Other World, obtaining 'Location Anchor' × 6. You can use these six 'Location Anchors' to locate six worlds, so you can return to these six worlds to wander in the future.]

Of the three new logs that appeared after crossing over, Daniel found only the fourteenth one to be of any use; the other two were utterly pointless.

In any case, he absolutely would not blow that world-ending horn.

After all, he himself didn't know how many of the currently surviving humans were like the old man from the children's settlement, taking care of and protecting them.

Sacrificing the last shred of conscience humanity possessed just to eliminate the scum among them—such a thing, Daniel would absolutely never do!

However, why did the fifteenth log make it seem like this world-ending horn had latched onto him?

Was it a permanent fixture on his side, while that useless angel was just a temp worker?

As for the anchor point... he'd think about it when he had the chance to wander into Doraemon's world.

"Master, the soil in this area has been tilled and prepared, ready for sowing at any time," the homunculus approached Daniel to report on the current work progress.

"Hmm, let's wait a few more days," Daniel replied, looking up at the sky. "When there are a few more children, we'll pick out those interested in farming from among them and teach them one by one."

"Yes!"

As for Daniel... he made it clear he was just there to watch the spectacle. He himself knew nothing about farming and had zero interest in it.

His numb back and legs could testify to that.

Inside the house at the moment, over a dozen little girls were trembling under Morgan's gaze.

After all, an adult woman wearing a black veil and exuding an overwhelmingly cold and aloof aura was a bit too intimidating for them.

Morgan looked around, her gaze finally settling on the silver-haired little girl who had blinded herself by pouring lead into her own eyes.

"Little girl, do you regret ruining your eyes?" Morgan asked as she approached the girl, who had grown nervous from her companions' reactions.

"I have," the little girl nodded, sensing no malice in Morgan's tone, and replied with a hint of sadness. "At first, I thought Mom simply hated my red eyes. It wasn't until I poured lead and blinded myself that I understood—Mom just hated me. It had little to do with whether my red eyes were damaged or not."

"But as a result, I can no longer watch my little sister grow up right before my eyes."

"So, I deeply regret it," the little girl said, hugging the slightly shorter girl with the same hair color in her arms even tighter.

That was her younger sister.

After casting a somewhat timid glance at Morgan, the younger sister buried her face back into her older sister's embrace.

"I understand," Morgan nodded. Her eyes beneath the black veil looked at the silver-haired girl with admiration as she placed a hand on the girl's head.

"Mmm—" The little girl instantly stiffened. A warm current began flowing from her forehead toward her eyes. Before long, she felt something trickling down from the corners of her eyes.

"Sis?" The younger sister, the first to notice her sister's abnormality, looked up at her, tears instantly welling in her own eyes.

"Don't worry, little one. Your sister is just preparing to welcome the light," Morgan explained, gently stroking the younger sister's head with her other hand.

"After a while, you'll be able to see your sister's eyes with your own and stare right into them."

Morgan's first attempt to repair the girl's eyes with magic didn't involve altering the optic nerves or other parts. Instead, she first focused on flushing out all the residual harmful substances.

As for restoring vision, she needed to prepare a darkroom first, then gradually help the silver-haired girl's eyes recover their sight.

"Sis, will you be able to see me again?" The younger sister wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and looked at Morgan in astonishment.

"Of course," Morgan nodded in reply. "This is a contract I, a witch, make with you."

"A witch!"

The title instantly caught the attention of the little girls.

"Big sis, big sis, can you fly on a broomstick?" one of the little girls raised her hand to ask.

"Flying on a broomstick is for witches. I am a more powerful sorceress; I can fly even without a broomstick!"

"More powerful? So amazing! Even more powerful than the Heavenly Punishment Girls?" This came from a child who had caught a few episodes of Heavenly Punishment Girls on TV.

"I don't know how strong your Heavenly Punishment Girls are, but they're definitely not stronger than me!" Morgan's long-dormant competitive spirit suddenly flared up.

Come to think of it, Morgan had never had the experience of interacting with real children before.

For her, this was a new experience.

So, Morgan was quite lively surrounded by the dozen or so little girls.

She even managed to take their body measurements without them noticing.

These were the measurements needed to tailor the shroud of turin for them later.

As for whether the shroud of turin would work on the gastrula virus inside the girls, she had already verified it with magecraft.

So, next...

"Children, would you like to go bathe with big sis and change into clean, neat, and comfortable new clothes?" Morgan asked, looking down at the dozen or so little girls in a coaxing tone.

"Yes!"

"New clothes!"

"Can we really wear new clothes?"

"Big sister Mordred was right, this really is heaven!"

The little girls chattered and clamored excitedly.

When Mordred returned with the second batch of children, she was shocked to find that the first batch, who had previously been circling around her, were now all wearing new clothes and ribbons made from the shroud of turin, sitting around Morgan and listening to her gentle voice as she read stories from a fairy tale book.

Most terrifying of all, Morgan had even removed the black veil from her face.

"My god, who is that person?" Mordred lost her composure.

"Um, Lord Mordred, please leave these children here to me," Rikudou Reika emerged from a nearby building just as Mordred was staring dumbfounded at Morgan. "Lady Morgan has basically determined the most suitable places on the children's bodies to wear the shroud of turin."

"Rikudou, when did she become like this?" Mordred pointed at Morgan incredulously and asked Rikudou Reika.

"Well, I'm not too sure either," Rikudou Reika shook her head and explained. "By the time I arrived, Lady Morgan was already like this."

"You naughty child over there, stop bothering Reika-chan with her comforting work with the children. Hurry up and get on with what you're supposed to be doing," Morgan suddenly looked up and glared at Mordred as a reminder.

As she spoke, she reached out and stroked the head of the silver-haired little girl closest to her.

The little girl leaned into Morgan's palm, enjoying the touch.

Mordred shuddered violently, turned around with an expression of having seen something horrifying, and ran off.

She intended to go report the situation to Daniel and Artoria.

She now had reason to suspect that Morgan's body had been taken over by someone else!
