This sudden turn of events happened far too quickly. One second, everyone was still celebrating the successful recruitment of Banner into S.H.I.E.L.D., and the next, they saw Banner shot in the head and collapsing in front of them.

Everyone could still see the smile that had not yet faded from his face.

This was a slap in the face—no, it was a direct slap to the face of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters

Bang!

Nick Fury, who had been monitoring the entire mission, slammed the table hard. His face turned dark and murderous.

"Team A, move immediately and capture the shooter. S.H.I.E.L.D. does not accept surrender from terrorists!"

The moment Fury spoke, he directly labeled the attacker a "murderer" and "terrorist" and declared that surrender would not be accepted. One could imagine just how furious he was.

"Yes, sir!"

On Site

Team A agents immediately moved out upon receiving the order. S.H.I.E.L.D. would not accept any surrender from terrorists—in other words, they would locate the mastermind and eliminate them on the spot.

Even without Fury's order, they were already ruthless.

Recruiting the Hulk had been a high-risk mission—like walking with a rope tied around your neck, death could come at any moment.

But high risk also meant high reward: special commendations, promotions, even instant wealth.

If there was still hope for success, it was one thing—but now someone had interfered at the final moment.

Stopping people from making money was no different from killing their parents. At this moment, every agent's eyes were bloodshot.

As the agents searched for the attacker, Fury's expression suddenly changed.

"Agent Romanoff, retreat immediately. I repeat, retreat immediately upon receiving this order!"

Fury reacted instantly and ordered Natasha to pull out.

Unlike the rational Banner, Fury knew very well what would happen when the Hulk went berserk—fear itself.

But it was already too late.

A loud roar echoed.

Banner's body—just shot in the head—began to swell, rapidly expanding, turning green, and growing massive. His shoes, socks, and shirt exploded apart instantly, leaving only his pants intact.

Garbon Academy was filled with teachers and students.

The gunshot had already caused panic, but the sudden appearance of a green monster immediately triggered chaos. People screamed and scattered in all directions.

At a time like this, no one cared about order or traffic rules. Pushing, trampling, and collisions turned the entire campus into chaos.

"ROAR!"

The Hulk roared at Natasha. The sound was like a category-10 storm, whipping her clothes wildly and making it hard for her to even open her eyes.

Facing the Hulk, Natasha felt completely overwhelmed—her mind went blank, and her body stiffened.

If you haven't experienced it yourself, you can never understand the terror of the Hulk.

His overwhelming height, explosive muscles, terrifying strength, and savage face were enough to destroy a person psychologically.

Banner had been suppressing the Hulk for years. Although the Hulk had existed for more than two years, his intelligence remained extremely low.

He was like an angry infant—destructive, acting purely on instinct.

The headshot had been too painful. At this moment, the Hulk had only one thought:

Destroy everything in sight.

When he saw Natasha, his simple mind immediately concluded that she had betrayed him.

In the Hulk's world, concepts like mercy did not exist. Without hesitation, he threw a punch at her.

The fist grew larger in her vision, the pressure of death almost suffocating.

However, as a top-level agent, Natasha still reacted instinctively.

Although her body was stiff, at the last moment she rolled and narrowly dodged the punch.

BOOM!

The Hulk's strike missed, smashing the wall behind her instead. Bricks exploded outward as dust and smoke filled the air.

"Run!"

Regaining her senses, Natasha didn't look back and sprinted into a narrow corridor, with the Hulk in hot pursuit.

In seconds, the entire corridor was destroyed. The Hulk was like a runaway heavy tank—everything in his path collapsed instantly.

Meanwhile, Betty had only just recovered from witnessing Banner being shot in the head when the chase began.

Seeing the Hulk relentlessly pursuing Natasha and tearing through the building, she kept shouting "Bruce!" hoping to awaken Banner's consciousness.

But how could the Hulk's rage be calmed so easily?

If anything, not attacking Betty was already the best outcome.

The chaotic chase continued. Natasha alternated between calm runner and desperate escape artist, constantly dancing on the edge of death.

At headquarters, Fury immediately ordered Team B to move in and support Natasha, but no matter how capable the agents were, support could not always arrive in time.

Natasha was now running deeper into the academy, moving further away from Team B's deployment zone.

Against the Hulk, without proper positioning, no agent would foolishly charge in.

In short, whether Natasha survived or died at the hands of the Hulk now depended entirely on fate.

Meanwhile, the sniper who had shot Banner—Blonsky—received new orders.

"Soldier, good job. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents have reached your ambush point. Withdraw immediately."

Blonsky backed away while speaking into his earpiece:

"Understood. The Hulk has been successfully drawn out. Begin the next phase immediately and proceed with capture."

General Ross then said:

"Soldier, forget that for now. I have a far more important mission for you."

Ross informed Blonsky of Mr. Lan's identity and ordered him to immediately head to the academy, arrest Lan, and seize Banner's blood samples and research data.

At first, Blonsky was dissatisfied that he was not allowed to capture the Hulk himself.

But upon hearing about the samples and research data, he immediately became excited.

After receiving two injections of the Super Soldier Serum, Blonsky had become obsessed with power.

"I understand, General. I will bring back the Hulk's blood and power!"

He licked his lips, a sinister smile appearing on his face.

"Good, Blonsky. You are indeed my finest soldier. Go."

After hanging up, Ross was very satisfied.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s recruitment attempt had failed, the Hulk was rampaging, and Banner's research was now under his control.

Everything related to the Hulk still belonged to him.

Everything was going in the right direction. Ross felt reassured—even the chaos unfolding before him looked like a beautiful scene.

Long Island Villa

When Rimuru learned from A-Ling that the Hulk was rampaging and chasing Natasha, she cursed out loud.

Without hesitation, she immediately put on Fengshen II and flew straight toward Garbon Academy.

No need to ask why.

If there's no reason needed to save someone—then what reason is there at all?
