Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: No Peace Again

From that moment—

Peace left the lesson centre.

Completely.

Because now it wasn't just gossip.

It was confirmed suspicion.

And students?

Students don't know how to keep quiet.

The next morning—

She didn't even need to enter fully before she heard it.

"Leave them!"

"I didn't say anything!"

"You are lying!"

Voices.

Plenty voices.

She stepped into the compound and paused.

Ah… it has started.

Agadi was already in the middle of it.

Of course.

"Why are you people shouting?" she asked, walking closer.

Agadi turned immediately.

"Come and see," she said.

"I'm seeing."

"No, you're not seeing."

Favor appeared beside them.

"They are denying," she said.

"Who?" she asked.

Favor pointed slightly.

Not directly.

But enough.

Her eyes followed.

And landed on them.

The two.

Sitting.

Too quiet.

Too focused on their books.

Too serious.

This is not normal behavior.

Agadi folded her arms.

"See how they are forming."

"They are not forming," she said.

"They are forming," Agadi insisted.

"Onye kwu that thing," Favor added.

Jiggy entered at that moment.

"What did I miss?" he asked immediately.

"Everything," Agadi said.

Jiggy looked around.

Then spotted them.

His eyes widened.

"Ahhh!"

"Keep quiet!" three people said at once.

He covered his mouth.

But his eyes were still shining.

"I knew it," he whispered.

"You didn't know anything," she said.

"I felt it," he replied again.

"Feel your homework," Agadi said.

The class laughed.

Things didn't get better.

They got worse.

Because now—

People started teasing.

Small-small at first.

Then boldly.

Someone coughed loudly.

"Love is in the air!"

Laughter.

The two people didn't react.

But their ears?

Red.

Very red.

Agadi leaned back, smiling.

"This is sweet."

"You like trouble," she said.

"I enjoy entertainment," Agadi corrected.

Same thing.

Mr Charles entered.

"Good morning!"

"Good morning, sir!"

He looked around.

Paused.

Then narrowed his eyes.

"Why are you people smiling like this?"

Silence.

Nobody answered.

"Something is going on," he said slowly.

"No, sir!" they replied.

He shook his head.

"I will find out."

Agadi whispered, "Detective is back."

She almost laughed.

Class started.

But today—

Nobody was serious.

Even when Mr Charles was explaining, people were still sneaking glances.

Watching.

Observing.

Trying to catch another moment.

Then—

He turned suddenly.

"You!" he pointed.

One of the "suspects."

The class froze.

"Stand up."

The person stood slowly.

"Answer this question."

Silence.

The person looked at the board.

Then at the book.

Then—

Nothing.

Mr Charles folded his arms.

"So now love has removed your brain?"

The class exploded.

Even she bent forward laughing.

The person just stood there, embarrassed.

"Sir, I—"

"You what?" Mr Charles asked. "You are thinking about something else?"

More laughter.

Agadi hit the table again. "Sirrr!"

"Sit down," Mr Charles said. "Before you disgrace yourself more."

The person sat down quickly.

The other one didn't even look up.

At all.

Agadi leaned toward her.

"This is serious," she whispered.

"Very serious."

Favor leaned in.

"Onye kwu that thing."

Later—

Mr Jaja entered.

And immediately—

He knew.

He didn't even greet first.

He just looked around.

Then smiled slowly.

"Ahhh…"

That smile.

Dangerous smile.

"You people have started again."

"Started what, sir?" Mia asked.

Mr Jaja pointed randomly.

"Something is happening."

The class laughed nervously.

"Sir, nothing is happening," Jiggy said.

Mr Jaja looked at him.

"You are always in the middle of something."

"I'm innocent," Jiggy said.

"Very guilty innocent," Mr Jaja replied.

The class laughed.

Then he faced the class.

"Before we continue," he said, "I want to give advice."

Everybody became quiet.

"Anything that will distract you from your books—avoid it."

He paused.

Then added—

"Especially love."

The class screamed.

"Sirrrr!"

She covered her face.

This man will not allow peace.

Agadi was laughing fully now.

"This is too much," she said.

The two people involved?

Finished.

Completely finished.

They didn't even know where to look again.

After class—

It didn't stop.

Outside.

Inside.

Everywhere.

Teasing.

Whispers.

Laughter.

"See them."

"They are shy."

"They are denying."

"No peace.

At all.

She stood with Agadi and Favor.

Watching everything.

"This thing don blow," Favor said.

"It has blown," Agadi agreed.

She shook her head slightly.

This lesson centre…

Then she glanced again.

At the two.

Still avoiding each other.

Still acting normal.

But not normal.

At all.

She smiled slightly.

Let's see how long this will last.
