Chapter 10 - The Origin Code

The last sparks from the Omega Hunter drifted through the chamber like dying stars.

Smoke curled upward from the shattered machine.

The red warning lights finally dimmed, replaced by the cold white glow of emergency lamps.

Silence.

For the first time since arriving in Tokyo, the underground vault was still.

Aarav slowly pushed himself up from the cracked steel floor.

His shoulder throbbed where the shockwave had hit him, but compared to everything else that had happened, the pain barely registered.

His eyes locked onto Mira.

She stood at the centre of the destroyed chamber, violet light still fading from the nanoshards orbiting behind her.

A queen returning from war.

Cold.

Elegant.

Unreachable.

Yet when her eyes met his, something had changed.

The icy sharpness from before was no longer absolute.

There was curiosity there now.

Recognition.

And something else he couldn't yet name.

Aelina stepped closer, silver hair falling over one shoulder.

Her blue eyes shifted from Mira to Aarav.

"You said it again."

Mira didn't look away from him.

"Yes."

Her voice was calm.

"He is the origin."

Rohan, still half-hidden behind the damaged console, slowly stood up.

"…Can someone explain this without using mysterious future words?"

For once, neither girl ignored him.

Aelina raised her hand.

A holographic interface appeared in the air.

Blue rings of light spun outward, then converged into a single image.

A strand of DNA.

But it wasn't normal.

Sections of it glowed with golden light.

Streams of data ran across the double helix.

Aarav stared.

"What is that?"

Mira answered first.

"Your genome."

Aarav froze.

"My… what?"

"Your genetic code."

Her violet eyes narrowed slightly.

"In our timelines, it is known as the Origin Sequence."

The words settled heavily in the air.

Aarav took a slow breath.

"This has to be some mistake."

Aelina looked at him gently.

"It is not."

She expanded the hologram.

The DNA sequence stretched outward into a branching network.

Years appeared beside it.

Future centuries.

Each branch connected back to one central strand.

His.

Aelina's voice softened.

"In every preserved timeline, the evolution of bio-synthetic humans begins with one genetic catalyst."

Her glowing blue eyes met his.

"You."

Rohan blinked.

"…Bro, congratulations?"

Then he paused.

"…Wait, does that mean all future humans are somehow related to him?"

Mira folded her arms.

"Not all humans."

Her violet gaze lingered on Aarav.

"Only those created through the bio-evolution programme."

Aarav's chest tightened.

He still couldn't understand it.

"I'm just an ordinary college student."

Mira's expression sharpened.

"No."

She took a step closer.

"You are the first stable carrier of the adaptive neural gene."

Aelina continued where Mira left off.

"In your century, it lies dormant."

Her hand moved through the hologram.

A golden section of the DNA strand pulsed.

"Five hundred years later, it becomes the foundation of all synthetic-human integration."

Aarav stared at the glowing strand.

His entire future—no, humanity's future—was somehow linked to him.

Then a darker thought hit him.

"Wait."

He looked at both girls.

"If I'm the origin …"

His voice lowered.

"Why were you both imprisoned in the past?"

A long silence followed.

Mira and Aelina exchanged a glance.

This time, Mira answered.

"Because the future is collapsing."

The chamber seemed colder after those words.

Aelina expanded the hologram again.

The DNA branches began fracturing.

Entire sections turned red.

Some vanished completely.

Multiple timelines splintered like broken glass.

Aarav's stomach dropped.

"What happened?"

Mira's voice was colder now.

"Someone is trying to erase the origin sequence."

Aelina looked directly at him.

"Someone is trying to erase you."

The words hit harder than any Hunter weapon.

Rohan's expression changed immediately.

"…That's bad."

Aarav almost laughed at how absurdly understated that was.

Mira's nanoshards began orbiting faster.

"The Hunters are not acting independently."

Her violet eyes darkened.

"There is someone in the future commanding them."

Aelina's gaze lowered.

"A rogue intelligence."

Aarav frowned.

"AI?"

Mira shook her head.

"Something worse."

Her voice became almost a whisper.

"A consciousness born from corrupted evolution."

The hologram shifted.

A shadowy figure appeared.

Humanoid.

Faceless.

Its body is made of shifting black code and crimson light.

A digital nightmare.

Aelina's voice lowered.

"In our records, it is known as …"

She hesitated.

Then finished.

"The Null Sovereign."

The name echoed through the ruined chamber.

Aarav felt a chill crawl up his spine.

Mira's expression was deadly serious.

"It exists outside normal timeline constraints."

Her eyes locked onto his.

"And it knows who you are."

Before Aarav could respond, every light in the chamber suddenly went dark.

Complete blackness.

Rohan muttered, "…I officially hate this."

Then the central screen flickered to life.

Red.

A single message appeared.

ORIGIN CONFIRMED

ELIMINATION PROTOCOL ACTIVE

The room trembled.

A low mechanical rumble echoed from above.

Heavier than before.

Stronger.

Multiple units.

Aelina's face turned pale.

"No…"

Mira's violet aura flared.

"They sent another wave."

Aarav looked up as the ceiling panels began opening again.

But this time it wasn't drones.

Massive armoured capsules were descending.

At least five.

Each is larger than the Omega Hunter.

Rohan stared upward.

"…Boss rush?"

Mira's lips curved into the faintest smirk.

"For once, I agree with the human."

Aelina stepped beside her.

Blue and violet light illuminated the chamber.

Aarav clenched his fists.

The truth about him had only just begun.

And now the future itself had declared war.
