Chapter 141 - God of Oblivion

Rose remained silent for several moments.

"I inherited the lineage of the God of Oblivion."

Nora's brows furrowed.

"The God of Oblivion?"

She looked genuinely puzzled.

"As far as I know..."

"There are only the Eight Divine Gods."

She paused before adding,

"...plus the other three names I've come across."

Rose looked at her curiously.

"The other three?"

Nora nodded.

"Fate."

"Fate God."

"And Destiny God."

For a moment, Rose simply stared at her.

Then she slowly shook her head.

"As far as I know..."

"Fate isn't a god."

Nora blinked.

"What?"

Rose folded her arms.

"Fate is a Divine Creature."

"It wasn't born from parents."

"It wasn't created by a god."

"It came into existence from Nothingness itself."

Nora's heartbeat quickened.

"...You're saying Fate is merely a creature?"

Rose nodded.

"An unimaginably powerful one."

"But still a creature."

Nora lowered her gaze.

Her thoughts became chaotic.

"If Fate isn't a god..."

"Then why is there a Fate God?"

Rose smiled helplessly.

"I've wondered the same thing."

She looked toward the ceiling of the ancient chamber.

"The only explanation I can think of..."

"...is that Fate somehow gave birth to one of the gods."

She shrugged.

"Perhaps even the Eighth God."

"But that's only my theory."

"I've never found proof."

Nora remained silent.

Every answer she received only seemed to create two new questions.

After a while, she looked back at Rose.

"Then..."

"Who exactly are Fate God and Destiny God?"

Rose laughed softly.

"I wish I knew."

She stretched lazily.

"Some mysteries are better left for another day."

Nora sighed.

"...Fair enough."

Then she suddenly remembered something.

"You were telling me about the God of Oblivion."

Rose nodded.

"Right."

Her expression gradually became serious again.

"I inherited a lineage from this place."

She gently touched the ancient statue.

"I don't know how."

"I don't know why."

"But ever since then..."

"I've carried the lineage of the God of Oblivion."

Nora looked surprised.

"You actually inherited a Divine Lineage?"

Rose nodded.

"Yes."

"The strange part is..."

"I've never noticed any obvious changes."

"No new abilities."

"No strange dreams."

"Nothing."

She looked directly at Nora.

"Since you're a Seer..."

"I thought perhaps your visions might reveal something."

Nora slowly shook her head.

"My visions don't work that way."

"They're involuntary."

"I can't choose what I see."

"Sometimes I only receive fragments."

"Sometimes..."

"...I don't receive anything at all."

She smiled bitterly.

"That's why I write every vision into a journal."

"One day..."

"I hope the missing pieces fit together."

Rose nodded thoughtfully.

"I suppose that's the only thing we can do."

Silence settled between them.

The fire crackled softly.

Then Rose suddenly smiled.

"You know..."

"I'm actually relieved."

Nora looked confused.

"Relieved?"

Rose nodded.

"Finding someone else who knows there are more than Eight Gods..."

"...makes me feel a little less crazy."

Nora smiled faintly.

"I understand."

Rose suddenly frowned.

"...Wait."

Nora blinked.

"What?"

Rose rubbed her forehead.

"I was trying to tell you something important."

Nora waited.

Several seconds passed.

Rose's frown deepened.

"...What was it?"

"I don't remember."

Nora looked at her strangely.

"You forgot?"

Rose nodded slowly.

"I was literally talking about it just now."

"...Why can't I remember?"

Nora's own smile slowly disappeared.

She opened her mouth to answer.

Then froze.

"...Rose."

Rose looked up.

"What did we just discuss?"

Rose stared blankly.

"I..."

"..."

"I don't know."

Nora's pupils contracted.

A cold sensation ran down her spine.

She forced herself to think.

Moments ago...

They had been discussing...

Something.

Something important.

Something connected to...

Connected to...

Her thoughts abruptly stopped.

An invisible emptiness settled inside her mind.

It was as though a page had been torn out of her memory.

Nora's breathing unconsciously slowed.

"...Why..."

"...can't I remember either?"

Neither of them spoke.

The answer stood silently between them.

Whatever the God of Oblivion truly was...

Even remembering the name seemed impossible.
