Chapter 3 - The Things He Started Noticing

Chapter 3: The Things He Started Noticing

Third day.

Nothing special was supposed to happen.

That's what Mohit thought.

---

He entered the class a little later than usual.

For the first time, his eyes didn't go to the board.

They went to the last bench.

The seat beside his… was already occupied.

Bushra.

She was there before him.

Bag placed neatly. Notebook open. Pen ready.

As if she had been waiting.

---

He walked over and sat down.

No words.

But something shifted.

Yesterday, it felt like coincidence.

Today, it felt like choice.

---

"Late ho gaye aaj," Bushra said casually.

Mohit kept his bag down.

"Haan… thoda."

That was more than he usually said.

She noticed.

But didn't react.

---

Class started.

Maths.

Integrations.

Half the class gave up internally.

Saurabh didn't.

Mohit didn't.

And now… Bushra was trying not to.

---

A few minutes passed.

Then she leaned slightly toward him.

"Yeh samajh nahi aa raha…"

Before she could finish—

Mohit had already opened his notebook.

"Dekho," he said.

He started explaining.

Short steps. Clear method.

Same style.

But today—

he spoke a little more.

---

From the side, Yogesh noticed.

Not the talking.

The change.

He didn't smile.

He didn't comment.

But he understood.

---

Bushra listened carefully.

"Tum teacher se better samjhate ho," she said softly.

Mohit stopped for a second.

Then said,

"Teacher syllabus cover karte hain."

She tilted her head slightly.

"And you?"

He looked at the notebook.

"Main bas… samjhata hoon."

---

She smiled again.

That same small smile.

But today—

he noticed it properly.

---

He noticed other things too.

The way she tapped her pen when thinking.

The way she slightly frowned when confused.

The way she didn't interrupt while he explained.

Small things.

Normal things.

But now—

they were clear.

---

Break time.

Everyone got up.

Noise filled the room.

Nikhil threw a chalk piece at Akaash.

Akaash shouted back.

Saurabh discussed a question with Mithlesh.

Normal chaos.

---

Mohit stayed seated.

Bushra too.

For a moment, both didn't say anything.

Then she asked—

"Tum lunch nahi karte?"

"Baad mein," he replied.

She opened her tiffin.

"Share karoge?"

He looked at it.

Then at her.

"No… tum khao."

"Ek bite le lo," she insisted lightly.

He hesitated.

Then took a small piece.

"Thanks."

"Welcome."

Simple.

But something about it—

didn't feel simple.

---

From the door, Helal watched.

His expression wasn't angry.

But it wasn't relaxed either.

He turned away after a second.

---

After break, classes continued.

But concentration didn't stay the same.

At least for Mohit.

---

For the first time—

his focus broke.

Not because of noise.

Not because of difficulty.

But because of… awareness.

---

Final bell.

Students rushed out.

Mohit packed slowly.

Bushra stood up.

"Kal test hai," she said.

"Haan."

"Padh lena."

He nodded.

Then she added—

"Fail mat hona… warna meri help ka kya fayda?"

A slight tease.

He looked at her.

For a second longer than usual.

"Tum fail nahi hone dogi," he said.

---

Silence.

Just one line.

But it stayed.

---

She didn't reply.

Just smiled.

And walked out.

---

Outside, sky was clearer today.

No clouds.

No rain.

Just open space.

---

Mohit walked with his group.

But he wasn't fully there.

Nikhil kept talking.

Akaash kept laughing.

Everything continued.

---

But inside—

something had started changing.

Slowly.

Without permission.

---

At the corner, paths separated again.

Bushra went her way.

Mohit went his.

---

This time—

she didn't look back.

And strangely—

he noticed that too.

---

From the staircase, Prince stood still.

Watching both directions.

Two people walking away.

Different paths.

Same silence.

---

«"Kabhi kabhi…

badlav awaaz ke saath nahi aata…

bas aadat ban jaata hai."»

---

And Mohit had just begun—

to notice things he never cared about before.
