Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Voldemort: Victor Wick is Loyal to Me!

After their conversation, Victor Wick had summarized several key points.

First, it was possible that people from other worlds would continue to appear in this one.

Second, because Crowley and Aziraphale were an angel and a demon respectively, they possessed a certain divinity. Thus, even if their memories were gradually being altered, they would not forget the original timeline. Other newcomers might not be so lucky; they might believe they had lived in this world since childhood...

Third, these newcomers might hold the secret to why he had transmigrated in the first place.

However, Victor's desire to return to his original world wasn't as strong as it once was.

Before his transmigration, he had been alone—just another corporate drone crushed by the daily grind.

Although he was still a bit of a workhorse here, at least he had real friends... even if he hadn't admitted it for safety reasons.

Still, even if he didn't crave a return to his old life, he still wanted to uncover the reason behind his arrival.

Victor felt the rare books in his pocket, feeling quite satisfied.

While the arrival of characters from other worlds added more uncertainty to the future, the help they could provide was very real.

For instance, to apologize for Crowley, Aziraphale had gifted him several invaluable books and told him he could come by whenever he needed something specific.

'If I'd met this kind angel sooner, I wouldn't have spent all those years crawling through ancient ruins...'

...

The Leaky Cauldron.

After a busy day, Victor sat down at his desk and opened his Defense Against the Dark Arts textbooks under the lamp.

"Sigh..." Victor let out a long breath.

Running errands for Dumbledore all day felt like unpaid overtime, whereas preparing for his role as a professor was his actual job now...

Looking at the seven textbooks in front of him, Victor felt his head throb.

'Damn it, one professor for seven grades! What kind of exploitation is this?'

Victor took a sip of an Invigoration Draught and resentfully flipped open a textbook.

It reminded him of his old life, nursing a coffee while staring bitterly at a computer screen...

Regarding how to teach the students Defense Against the Dark Arts, Victor knew his personal methods were difficult to pass on directly.

Others couldn't see the Ancient Rune sequences on spells and magical items the way he could.

Therefore, casting spells his way would be far more difficult for them.

Besides, teaching spells was Professor Flitwick's domain. His Defense Against the Dark Arts class was primarily about defending against dark creatures and the Dark Arts.

Perhaps he could add some clever twists to the traditional defensive methods.

For example, training the students' logical thinking and teaching them to apply principles broadly... rather than just reciting from a book.

Victor scribbled notes in a journal as he leafed through the old textbooks.

The dim light of the lamp through the window stood out in the night like a lonely star...

...

Morning sunlight streamed through the window, hitting Harry's face.

He rubbed his eyes and sat up in his soft, comfortable bed.

Waking up, Harry immediately checked the textbooks beside him and the owl cage by the bed!

"Everything is still here... It wasn't a dream..." Harry broke into a happy grin.

In fact, last night had been his most peaceful sleep in years.

He didn't have to do endless chores, and he didn't have to be jolted awake by Aunt Petunia's violent pounding on the door...

"This is wonderful..."

Harry thought of the man who had given him all this.

"I wonder what Professor Wick is doing right now..."

*Tap, tap, tap!*

Suddenly, a persistent pecking came from outside the window.

Harry turned to see a strange owl perched outside the shut window.

Hedwig glared at the other owl from her cage. It seemed that if the cage door weren't closed, she would have flown out to teach this intruder a lesson.

Harry hurried to open the window. The owl dropped a newspaper and then held out a leg with a small pouch attached.

"Oh... almost forgot." Harry quickly pulled some coins from his jacket pocket, took out five Knuts, and dropped them into the pouch.

The owl retracted its leg, turned, and flew away...

Harry picked up the newspaper and opened it.

It was the Daily Prophet, which he had asked Hagrid to help him subscribe to yesterday.

Because he was so eager to understand the wizarding world, a newspaper subscription seemed like a great choice.

However, as soon as Harry opened the paper, he saw Victor Wick's photo...

Victor Wick was on the front page!

Harry read the article hurriedly.

"Gringotts Infiltrated by Mysterious Dark Wizard Yesterday Afternoon; Heroically Repelled by Hogwarts' New Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor..."

Harry's eyes lit up as he finished the report.

Clearly, this new professor was incredibly powerful! And he would be his teacher soon!

The thought filled Harry with excitement.

But then... he recalled the way Victor had been waiting by the car yesterday afternoon.

He hadn't looked at all like someone who had just survived a fierce battle!

Harry sincerely hoped that one day he could become a wizard as powerful as Professor Wick...

He suddenly remembered what Professor Wick had told him: to become a powerful wizard, diligence was essential.

So, he quickly pulled the Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook from the pile and began to read it seriously...

...

"Master, he appears to have betrayed you completely... People outside are saying he's a spy Dumbledore planted by your side..."

Quirinus Quirrell sat trembling in his office, unwinding the purple turban from his head as he spoke.

"Silence, Quirrell. He went to Dumbledore at my command," a raspy voice drifted from the back of Quirrell's head.

"But... he clearly recognized you, yet he showed no intention of stopping his attack..."

"That is because you, you useless fool, were too weak at the start! Even if he recognized my fighting style later, he would certainly have felt suspicious. Besides, that was Gringotts, with a crowd of goblins watching. If he were as stupid as you, he'd be in Azkaban by now... I could feel his attacks weakening toward the end..."

The raspy voice went silent for a while before continuing, "As a precaution, this was also a test for him... For all these years, he is the only one among my servants who has been secretly searching for me. Therefore, I am willing to give him a chance..."

"But... but he also took the teaching position I had applied for," Quirrell stammered. "If I'm not the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, it will be difficult to find an opportunity to get close to the Philosopher's Stone..."

"No! It is a good thing he took your post... Because of your stupidity, Dumbledore has surely noticed your abnormalities. He is undoubtedly watching you closely now! That is exactly how that old man operates... However, if Victor Wick has not betrayed me, then... while Dumbledore's attention is fixed on you, the unnoticed Victor Wick will be the best choice to help me obtain the Stone!"

"Will... will he really not betray you?"

"Hehehe, highly unlikely... You don't understand; he crossed the point of no return long ago... However, we cannot be without safeguards. You must keep a close eye on Dumbledore and Wick—especially Dumbledore! I must confirm whether Wick informs Dumbledore of my presence! Enough, I have exhausted too much energy. Drink the potion quickly. I... I must rest..."
