Chapter 3 - Professor Quin

Morning was unpleasant.

Waldon looked outside, the windows were charmed or enchanted. They showed the outside even though Waldon knew his room was probably a four by four closed dimensional space.

He picked up his satchel. He did not want to be late on the first class of summoning.

The group were separated in their core classes. Roland had a general affinity, so he decided to focus on his mana capabilities.

Lucius inherited his family's wind affinity. He picked elemental mastery with a smug smile.

Waldon opened the door to the hallway.

Someone could be heard arguing down the stairs. He carefully leaned over the railing. Unaware of his own shadow growing large due to the angle.

Something suddenly pulled him downwards and Waldon lost his balance. He yelped as he was held upside down by an unknown force.

"Tsk, tsk — Firstie! Don't you know better? Snooping around like a cat!"

"Let him go, Jace," said Kallian to a boy whose face was covered by a orange mask that was carved out in stripes to show his blue eyes.

"Aww, but I was just getting started," Jace ridiculed. A purple glow appeared on his hands as Waldon floated back up safely.

"Remember not to snitch!"

Waldon heard Jace's condescending voice as he walked away with a red face.

He was intrigued by the magic though. Gravity? Telekinesis? He supposed it was of something of that sort.

The classroom took little time to find, Waldon made it sure to memorize the map over the week.

He looked around for any familiar face to sit down beside.

Isolde of Thornmayn, she had a mesmerizing shade of dark violet for her hair and red eyes. Waldon had talked to her a few times over their shared excitement over magic.

Isolde looked up from her head down position as she felt waldon sit down besides her.

"You didn't tell me you had an ability!?" Isolde asked with the last part rising in pitch.

"Why would I tell you when I haven't told my friends yet," he teased, hoping it wasn't too rude. Socializing was a tough nut to crack.

Isolde held her right hand over heart dramatically, "My heart, full of woe," she snorted and sent a full grin at Waldon.

"Now, I can keep pestering you about the complexity of conceptual magic…" she smiled a genuine one.

"You got lucky that I am equally as crazy about the topic!" he shoke his head.

Waldon quickly found out that friends were worth the mental taxation of socializing. He enjoyed his banters with Isolde and the others.

The door suddenly closed with a bang. Waldon looked at the podium and saw a man — with shoulder length hair and an unkempt beard — standing there. He wore a black long coat with a navy blue shirt. Pants matching his coat and boots made of leather.

"Welcome, to Introduction to Summoning." His voice bounced off the walls enhancing its chalkiness.

"You may call me Sir or Professor Quin," Professor Quin commanded.
