Chapter 635 - The Second Young Master

Lin Feiyan stood frozen in place. Compared to Jiang Yuechu's calm acceptance, this Personal Disciple of the Jieqing Sect appeared utterly at a loss.

Although she had intended to slay a few demons while out here to add some bragging rights to her journey down the mountain,

she had only meant to go through the motions.

She didn't actually want to throw her life away just to temper some bullshit Dao Heart.

The two demons that had appeared just now to take away the old man were existences that could dominate a region and rule as kings anywhere else.

If they really followed their tracks all the way back to that so-called demon den...

Heaven knows how many other terrifying existences were hiding inside?

Even knowing that Guest Elder Jiang possessed heaven-defying means and could cross several minor Realms to crush a Seven Chess Pieces great demon to death,

no matter how capable she was in a fight, she was still only one person.

Besides, if she and Gong Shaoqi were to truly face such great demons, let alone help,

they probably wouldn't even have the chance to escape.

They would likely just end up being a burden, forcing her to divide her attention to protect them...

Thinking of this, Lin Feiyan swallowed hard, cold sweat already drenching her back.

"Guest Elder Jiang, please think twice."

Lin Feiyan pointed a finger, quietly gesturing toward the old black dog at the bottom of the valley that was hunched over and preparing to leave on its own.

"How about... we target that old dog first?"

"I see that the old dog's cultivation is mediocre, at most around the level of a Chess Player of three or four pieces. It's likely just some low-level loner not worth mentioning."

"Wouldn't it be much safer to use it for practice..."

Gong Shaoqi nodded repeatedly from the side, his face pale. Clearly, he too had been badly frightened by the Aura of the two wolf demons from earlier.

"Who said I was going to let this old dog go?"

Jiang Yuechu glanced at the two of them with confusion, and without waiting for them to speak, she moved slightly. Her white robes fluttered, and she instantly transformed into a faint afterimage, sliding silently down the cliff toward the valley floor.

"..." Watching that unhesitating back, Lin Feiyan gritted her teeth. No... we're here together, at least tell us if you have a plan! How could she just start fighting without a word!

Gong Shaoqi scratched his head in confusion. "Senior Sister, are we following her?"

"Obviously!" Lin Feiyan glared at him. "Guest Elder is already there. If we just run away like this, how will we be able to hold our heads high in the Sect in the future!"

After saying this, she bit the bullet and followed. Gong Shaoqi sighed, quickly activated his movement technique, and followed closely behind.

At the bottom of the dark, gloomy valley, miasma churned. The old black dog cursed a few times, hunched over, and turned to leave. Although the Liuxian Valley was large, it was not a place where a Loose Cultivator demon like it could stay for long. Just as it was about to take a step, the old dog's body suddenly stiffened. Its mottled black fur stood on end at that moment. It subconsciously froze in its tracks. A trace of terror flashed in its eyes. It abruptly lifted its massive dog head, its gaze sweeping rapidly across the surroundings. "Who is it..."

The words hadn't even finished falling, and it hadn't even managed to let the low growl escape its throat, when a fair hand nonchalantly gripped the old dog's snout, which was filled with yellow teeth.

The old dog's pupils constricted. It wanted to struggle, but discovered that the seemingly delicate hand contained a terrifying, irresistible force.

In the next instant, a massive force exploded. The old dog didn't even have time to whimper before its entire head, along with its hunched body, was slammed violently into the hard rock of the valley floor. A dull, heavy thud echoed through the valley. Gravel sprayed everywhere. The ground instantly caved into a large crater.

Jiang Yuechu bent one knee, her white robes fluttering. There was not a ripple of emotion in her pitch-black eyes. She simply pressed the demon into the ground, clearly having no intention of letting it get up.

Behind her, Lin Feiyan and Gong Shaoqi barely landed. They looked at each other, feeling somewhat helpless. They had wanted to take a shot, but they hadn't expected it to be over in a single encounter... Looking at it this way, when they met weak ones, they were casually suppressed by her... and when they met strong ones, they didn't even get a chance to act. What kind of training was this?!

Although the old dog's strength was lacking, it had at least spent many years scraping by in Yunmeng Township. It had relied on its alertness and combat experience to survive until now. Even though it had been subdued in one move, in that brief encounter, its Qi Sea roared, and it subconsciously tried to forcibly summon its Demon Palace to fight to the death.

But the next moment, all the Demonic Qi in its body suddenly froze. A battered, broken sword was hovering half an inch from its brow. The chilling Sword Intent pierced its skin, causing a wisp of blood to seep out.

The old dog's body stiffened, and it looked at the broken sword before it in terror.

"I ask, you answer." Jiang Yuechu said calmly, expressionless: "Otherwise..."

The old dog swallowed hard. It looked at the stunningly beautiful face before it with suspicion and fear. It had no idea who this young girl in white robes was, or why she would attack a down-and-out Loose Cultivator demon like itself. But driven by the instinct for survival, it quickly made a choice.

"Alright..."

Jiang Yuechu pondered for a moment. She didn't release her grip, then suddenly asked slowly: "What was the background of those two demons from earlier?"

Huh? Hearing this, the old dog was slightly stunned. She wasn't here for it? It had thought it had provoked some unknown enemy... but it hadn't expected the other party to ask about those two demons instead. Deep in its eyes, a flicker of calculation quietly flashed.

It had gone to great lengths to find that old man in order to please the so-called Second Young Master of the Southern Immortal Palace. And the result? Not only did it not get any benefits, but it was also fiercely humiliated by those two guard-dog-like things. Since you are heartless, don't blame me for being unrighteous. This young girl in white robes before it had unfathomable means and bottomless cultivation. If it could use her hands...

"In reply to your words, my Lord... those two demons are the personal bodyguards of the Second Young Master deep within this Liuxian Valley, both possessing the formidable cultivation of Eight Chess Pieces of Strategy."

Second Young Master? Jiang Yuechu frowned slightly. She was a newcomer, so this was obviously the first time she had heard this title. However, she felt a bit helpless inside. Yunmeng Township was great in every way, but this was the one thing she didn't like. Any demon or monster would dare to call themselves an Immortal Lord or Young Master... Just hearing the title, one had no idea if the other party was human or demon. Unlike in the Great Tang, where titles like Demon King or Demon Emperor made it clear exactly what they were. How clear those targets were...

Just as she was letting her thoughts wander, Lin Feiyan and Gong Shaoqi, who were cautiously approaching from behind, had their expressions change in unison upon hearing those three words. Although they had spent years in the Jieqing Sect focusing on the Dao and were inexperienced in worldly affairs, they were, after all, Personal Disciples of the Dao Sect, and they had heard a thing or two about the somewhat famous figures around Yunmeng Township.

"You know them?" Jiang Yuechu noticed their strange behavior, turned her head, and looked at them with confusion.

Lin Feiyan took a deep breath, a wry smile appearing on her face. "It's more than just knowing them..." She couldn't help but reach out and rub her temples, feeling a headache coming on. This luck was just too terrible... The previous training mission, too; she had thought it was just a regular task, but hadn't expected to run into a great demon of the Seven Chess Pieces level. Now, just taking a stroll... and they had run headlong into this Second Young Master of the Southern Immortal Palace.
