Chapter 8 - Longing + Reunion

The palace halls were quiet.

Too quiet.

Rin walked slowly, her fingers brushing against the cold stone walls. Portraits lined the corridor — victories, kings, queens… and one that made her stop.

Aiya.

Her sister stood immortalized in paint. Proud. Elegant. Strong.

Rin's expression softened.

Loneliness filled her eyes.

"I wish… it was me," she whispered.

Aiya had carried everything alone.

And none of them noticed.

Behind her—

"Hey sis, going to the training grounds again?" Enora asked.

Rin wiped her eyes quickly.

"Yes. Care to join me?"

"Sure thing."

---

The training grounds echoed with steel.

Rin practiced sword forms.

Enora refined her magic.

After a while, Enora laughed.

"I miss Sister Aiya."

Rin paused.

"Yeah…"

Enora imitated sarcastically:

"Enora, move your hands like this. Rin, fix your posture."

Rin laughed.

"That sounds exactly like her."

They both sat down, exhausted.

"How long has it been?" Enora asked quietly.

"…six years."

Silence.

"We never even got to see her remains…"

Both burst into tears.

---

Suddenly—

The palace erupted into movement.

Maids rushed. Guards sprinted. Messengers shouted.

Rin stopped one guard.

"What's happening?"

"Emergency! Outside the castle — hordes of monsters approaching the empire!"

Rin's eyes widened.

"What?!"

She stood instantly.

"Enora, get ready. We're leaving."

"Yes, sis!"

---

They rushed to the throne hall.

Their father stood already armored.

"Rin… Enora… I assume you've heard?"

"Yes, Father."

He looked at Enora.

"My child… this will be your first battle as an elite mage. Are you ready?"

She smiled confidently.

"Father, I didn't top my class for nothing."

He turned to Rin.

"And you?"

She tightened her grip on her sword.

"I'm Aiya's sister. I'll fight."

He nodded.

---

Outside the castle…

Millions of monsters.

Not thousands.

Millions.

The ground trembled.

This wasn't a horde.

This was annihilation.

Leading them was a demon realm sorcerer — Kmeba.

Low-ranked.

But brilliant.

She gathered monsters to prove herself.

To destroy Kushan.

To earn recognition.

She raised her staff.

"Today… Kushan falls."

But before she could cast—

A voice echoed across the battlefield.

"Wind of dust…

Earth of sand…

Fire heed…

And burn my foes."

The entire battlefield froze.

Who was chanting?

The voice was calm.

Clear.

Then—

The world exploded.

Flames swallowed the battlefield.

A storm of fire and sand tore through the monster army.

Millions…

Gone.

In one spell.

Silence.

On a distant hill…

Two figures stood.

Black armor.

Blue colorless veil dress.

Kros and Aiya.

"You overdid it," Kros said.

Aiya pouted.

"I didn't know it was that powerful…"

Everyone on the castle walls stood frozen.

The Grand Mage whispered—

"Impossible…"

Aiya and Kros began walking forward.

Each step heavy.

Each step suffocating.

Kmeba trembled.

She tried casting.

Her magic shattered.

Aiya looked at her coldly.

"wait.....!" shouted kmeba.

".... If I die here, you're all going to die by her hands."

".... Let me go and I'll pretend this never happened...."

Then —

One slash.

She fell.

Dead.

---

On the castle wall—

Rin felt something.

Her heart raced.

"…Aiya?"

Enora turned.

"What?"

Their father froze.

Rin trembled.

Tears fell.

She pointed.

"…That… that's… Aiya…"

She screamed—

"Aiya!!!"

And ran.

"RIN! COME BACK!" the king shouted.

"Your sister died six years ago!"

She ignored him.

She reached the gates.

"OPEN THEM!"

The guards hesitated.

Her aura exploded.

They stepped back in fear.

Enora cast a spell.

The gates opened.

They both ran.

Rin screamed—

"AIYAAA!!!"

Aiya froze.

Her eyes widened as the distant figure rushed toward her, screaming her name.

*Rin…?*

Her heart pounded. The cold battle aura, the ruthless demeanor — all of it melted instantly. The battlefield faded, drowned by a single emotion she hadn't allowed herself to feel in years.

Longing.

Tears welled in her eyes.

She stepped forward, her veil-dress flowing gently, as if the wind itself carried her. Kros glanced at her, sensing the sudden shift. Her overwhelming Demi-God aura changed — no longer suffocating, but warm… comforting.

Alive.

Rin sprinted forward, legs trembling, breath breaking, tears blurring her vision. Every step felt unreal, like she was chasing a dream that might vanish.

"Aiya!!!"

Enora followed closely behind, magic forming beneath Rin's feet, supporting her speed, guiding her path.

The battlefield watched in silence.

This was no longer war.

This was destiny.

Aiya began running.

Her eyes glowed faint blue — softer now, human. The air parted before her. Monsters instinctively moved away, unable to approach.

Kros followed behind, black armor gleaming, lightning flickering around him. But even he felt it…

This moment wasn't his.

It belonged to them.

The distance closed.

Rin stumbled forward—

Aiya caught her.

"…Rin."

Her voice broke.

"It's really you…"

Rin buried her face into Aiya's chest, crying uncontrollably.

"Aiya! Aiya! Aiya!"

She gripped her tightly, afraid she would disappear.

Enora reached them next, dropping to her knees, holding Aiya's arm, trembling.

"Sister… you're… really alive…"

Aiya pulled them both in.

Her aura pulsed gently — no longer the overwhelming force of a Demi-God, but something warmer.

Love.

She stroked Rin's hair softly.

"I missed you… so much."

Rin looked up, crying and smiling at once.

"I thought… I'd never see you again…"

Aiya held her shoulders, locking eyes.

"I'll never leave you again. I swear."

They embraced again — tightly.

Energy radiated outward, shimmering softly across the battlefield. Even the Grand Mage and elite knights felt it.

Not power.

Connection.

Human.

Kros stepped beside them, scratching his cheek.

"…So that's what she's like when she's not fighting."

Aiya laughed softly, wiping her tears.

"Don't get used to it."

Rin finally noticed him.

"…Who is he?"

Aiya smiled slightly.

"This idiot… saved my life."

Kros sighed.

"You're still calling me that?"

Enora giggled quietly.

The tension broke.

The sisters stood together.

After four years.

Together again.

And for the first time since leaving…

Aiya truly felt home.
