Chapter 8 - THE FORBIDDEN SIGNAL

IN THE GODS' COUNCIL

"Anchantad, Badmial what is this about a maating? It batter not ba your hogwash again." Coctis the god of the hidden realm asked.

"Ugh, this is exactly why I didn't miss this place. Wait, that bastard coctis still can't pronounce the letter "E" it's been 2 millennia for Pete's sake." replied Enchanted.

"Shut up. Your ona to talk, daspita laaving all your dutias just for that raason."

"I had to it was the only way to restore peace and maintain balance."

"Sura, whatavar halps you slaap at night."

"Someone better shut him up before I make his horse teeth worse than it already is"

"You swina. I handlad all your tasks whila you wara away."

"Oh, I see that's where your confidence to whine like a bitch is coming from. If you wanted an apology you should have said so instead of crying"

The banter continued as the other gods watched in amusement. They were happy to see Enchanted lively again since the incident that had left him in shambles.

Though, it looked like the maturity aspect to be grateful, still hadn't grown on him. His foul, angry personality had always been a pain but that's exactly why they made him the god of finance. Yes finance, that's why those bastards who handle money always act like crooks out to kill. His blessing always seemed to carry some of his personality with him which is why he was the only god with a few restrictions.

After letting the scene play for an hour or two, they got bored and decided to finally put an end to the dogfight.

"Hey, hey I know you miss each other and want to kiss and make up but we gathered for a meeting yk" said Idris the goddess of fortune.

"Yes, she's right. Focus on the task at hand" Frank the good of truth said facepalming.

He looked at the goddess of fortune hoping that his timely help would catch her attention but it was all for naught since she was captivated by her crystal ball at the moment. This made him depressed and it was as clear as day on his face. The gods and goddesses who saw him smiled, they all knew about their youngest who was chasing a big fish that was clearly out of his reach.

"Anyway, what's the problem Enchanted. Don't tell me you only called us here to inform us that you came out of seclusion" Jihad the god of fire said grumpily.

"Of course not, who do you think I am?." Enchanted replied haughtily finally turning away from Coctis.

"Well then, tell us already. People are always reading fortunes you know. My students need my guidance." Idris said in annoyance.

"Bossy as ever I see" Enchanted muttered.

"I didn't hear that, but i'm pretty sure you badmouthed me"

"Uhhh, that power is so broken."

"Better than punching numbers all day I suppose"

"Okay, ok, you both should calm down." Badmiel said out of frustration.

"Ahh, i'm so glad your here, Badmiel. You always know when to make these suckers get in line" Jihad commented from the side.

"Of course, I'm the god of order after all." Badmiel said, adjusting his glasses.

While all this was going on Mikhail was filled with an intense dejected feeling.

He didn't know what to say at all, so he just went to take his seat in the divine realm.

The divine realm had a breathtaking sight no matter how many times he came to it. He was the god of science and because of numerous experiments going out of order and blowing up landscapes the other gods made him stay in the void all alone. He was unbelievably lonely which is why he developed a playful nature to hide this fact from the rest.

He went to the highest mountaintop where they conducted their meetings the view from the top and the breeze that made his hair flutter were things that would seem boring as millennia passed but he was such a simple guy who's only desire was to be seen and noticed. He liked luminous for that fact, he was able to think rationally even in the presence of a god and speak his mind without fear, he wondered if he could ever tell the other gods about his pain….. Probably not.

So he compensated and tried to give Luminous his blessing. Maybe something good would come out of his existence as a higher being, but not even that backfired and now they were having a meeting and he was even scolded by the foul-mouthed Enchanted albeit for a short period.

His internal thoughts were brought to a halt by Enchanted's clapping.

"Okay, now that everyone is here. Let's begin. Enchanted proceed you called us here didn't you?" Badmiel stated while looking at him.

"Very well. My fellow gods and goddesses. I'm here to discuss something serious regarding you know what"

The gods and goddesses were stunned for a moment before gaining a sudden realization.

"Don't tell me, did something happen to it" Frank asked.

Idris looked solemn, she feared that something out of her expectations was about to happen.

"No, but something totally related to that matter" Enchanted replied trying to relieve some the tension he had created in the room.

"Just spit it out already, sitting on the fence and using hidden words won't get us anywhere" Jihad interrupted clearly tired of all the tiptoeing that was going on.

The other gods and goddesses didn't know what to say. It won't make sense to argue they all knew that Jihad might be lazy about everything but one thing they liked about him was his uncompromising desire for efficiency. You could probably call him average, he did things perfectly because he was too lazy to do them again.

"I was getting to that you know"

"Sure you were" Jihad said while rolling his eyes.

Enchanted ignored him since arguing would get them nowhere. "We have someone with a light again" he said to everyone.

The mountain top fell silent. Time seemed to have stopped. Shock, disbelief and confusion passed across their faces in waves.

"Again, you mean like him. How is that possible, two of them in the span of one millennia. We don't even know how to handle the other one" Idris said while rapidly running her hands through her hair. "This can't be there was only a two percent possibility" she muttered.

Jihad who was close to her heard what she said.

"You knew this would happen and didn't tell us?. Well for a goddess of fortune you sure love taking charge of your own destiny instead of trusting those your fancy old stars. Guess I was right for thinking you were seeing stars from delulu instead of fortunes"

Idris wanted to clap back when suddenly someone else did it for her.

"Hey, don't pick on her. Have some respect we're all higher beings and just because we have to keep a united front doesn't mean we're all comfortable with each other. Though, I don't disagree with what you said but cut her some slack. It probably had a slight chance of happening anyway. It's not her fault that it did you know" Frank said fiercely.

Idris had really cared about nothing more than her crystal ball and the stars but for some reason she thought that the god speaking up was actually pretty….. nice? "Huh when last did I think someone was nice. Oh well, I'll probably forget about it after this" she thought.

"Frank's right Jihad. Blaming it on her would do us no good. At least now we know." Mikhail commented.

All the other gods turned to Mikhail and we're wondering whether he had always been there or just arrived but were surprised again.

"Wasn't someone supposed to guard the relic, this shouldn't have happened." Sabrina the god of sleep said finally awoken from her slumber.

"Sabrina woke up, guess things are about to get worse" Badmiel stated.

Sabrina, the goddess of warnings and tribulations was a rare sight to see except in difficult times.

"Indaad" replied Coctis.

"Wait, who was supposed to be guarding the relic?" Asked Enchanted.

All the gods turned to look at each other, wondering why the couldn't think of a name.

"Don't tell me one of us committed a taboo" Frank replied.

Silence fell once again. Then realization dawned on them. Something beyond their knowledge was already in motion and none of them liked that fact.
