Chapter 9 - The Unfair Bet

The clash happened again.

CLANG!!

BOOM!!

The sound of metal and magic filled the air. Dust swirled, forming a thin haze across the vast training arena. Each impact sent subtle tremors outward, making the ground quiver like a held breath.

Anna stood at the edge, holding Khan calmly. Her expression remained gentle, but her eyes were sharp, following the battle without a single blink.

But unlike Anna

Khan was not calm.

His eyes moved rapidly.

Tracking.

Calculating.

Remembering.

Not a single movement escaped him. Every step, every swing, every shift in direction—everything was captured clearly in his mind.

Lily attacked first.

Her movement was fast, nearly invisible to the untrained eye. Her body shot forward like a shadow, vanishing from her original position. In an instant, she was already in front of Lilith.

Her blade aimed straight for the neck.

But

BLINK!

Lilith vanished.

She reappeared beside Lily, close enough to almost touch. Her hand was already raised—no hesitation, no delay.

"Radiant Burst."

Light gathered in her palm.

Brighter.

Denser.

BOOM!!

The explosion of light struck Lily directly. Her body was thrown back violently, slamming into the ground. Cracks spread from the impact point, splitting the arena floor like a web.

But

Lily smiled.

"Found your opening."

In an instant, she disappeared from where she had fallen.

And appeared

Right in front of Lilith.

Her sword swung.

CLAAANG!!

Lilith blocked.

But Lily's pressure was overwhelming. Lilith's feet slid slightly as the ground beneath her began to crumble. Fine cracks spread further, showing the immense force behind that single strike.

Khan watched.

Every movement.

Every decision.

Every opening.

There was no emotion on his face. Only focus. Only endless calculations running through his mind.

"Interesting…" he thought quietly.

The battle moved at a relentless pace.

No pauses.

No mercy.

Only technique.

Speed.

And power.

Each second felt like dozens of exchanges happening at once. Blades collided, magic erupted, and movements shifted unpredictably.

And then—

Everything stopped.

The two girls stepped back at the same time.

Their breathing was steady. Not exhausted. Not strained. Just… evaluating each other. Measuring. Comparing.

A brief silence fell over the arena.

Then

Their gazes shifted.

To the same direction.

Khan.

Anna blinked in surprise.

"…Over here?"

A smile appeared on Lily's face.

"Ah… there he is."

Lilith gave a faint smile.

"Good."

Khan felt something unsettling.

His instincts immediately warned him.

Lily began walking toward him.

Her steps were light, relaxed. But her aura had changed—sharper, more dangerous.

"Hey, Khan."

Khan stayed silent.

Lilith followed from the other side.

"You've been watching, haven't you?"

Khan remained silent.

Anna frowned slightly.

"What's going on with you two?"

Lily glanced at her briefly.

"It's nothing, Mom."

Then she looked back at Khan, her eyes gleaming with interest.

"Just the usual."

Lilith nodded.

"Yeah. Just the usual."

Khan began to understand.

And he didn't like it.

Lily raised her sword, pointing it at Lilith.

"Let's continue."

Lilith lifted her hand.

"Agreed."

Then

They both spoke at the same time—

"The winner… gets Khan."

Anna froze.

"…what?"

But before she could stop them—

BOOM!!

The fight resumed.

Khan froze.

He knew this.

He had been through this.

Over and over again.

He wasn't a prize.

He wasn't an object.

Yet in his sisters' eyes—

He was something to be fought over.

And worse—

He couldn't fight back.

Anna tried to intervene.

"Wait, that's not—"

BOOM!!

Another shockwave forced her back, too powerful to withstand.

Khan could only watch.

Every clash.

Every explosion.

And with every passing second—

His fate was being decided.

"I… have no choice…"

His eyes stared blankly at the arena.

But deep inside—

Something stirred.

Something slowly rising.

Not fear.

Not surrender.

But

Desire.

"If I become strong enough…"

A voice whispered within him.

"…I won't be anyone's prize."

The battle reached its peak.

CLAAANG!!

Lily's sword was knocked away.

"Now!"

Lilith raised her hand.

Light gathered

FLASH!!

A blinding explosion filled the arena.

Everything turned white for a moment.

And when the dust settled—

One figure remained standing.

Lilith.

Lily knelt on one knee.

Smiling tiredly.

"Ah… lost again."

Lilith lowered her hand, her breathing steady and unaffected.

Then

She turned.

Toward Khan.

A small smile appeared.

"I win."

She stepped closer.

Khan didn't move.

He simply stared.

And for the first time

His gaze changed.

No longer innocent.

No longer just a child.

But something deeper.

Something… dangerous.

Lilith stopped in front of him.

Then—

She extended her hand.

"Come. You're mine now."

Silence.

And deep within his heart—

Khan whispered—

"…not for long."
