Chapter 3 - Chapter 4: The Digital Spark and Midnight Butterflies

## **Chapter 4: The Digital Spark and Midnight Butterflies**

It was midnight. A heavy silence draped the house, broken only by the soft glow of the lamp in Zooni's room. She checked her phone to find a message from Abraham already waiting for her.

**Abraham:** "Hey, asleep yet? Or are you still thinking about my return gift?"

Zooni smiled, resting her head on her pillow as she typed back rapidly.

**Zooni:** "Mama absolutely loved the gift; she's already singing your praises. But don't get too ahead of yourself, Mr. Software Engineer!"

**Abraham:** "Hey, I deserve some credit! Anyway, I was thinking about next week's exhibition. You've invited me, but there's one problem."

**Zooni:** "What kind of problem?"

**Zooni:** (Typing mischievously) "There will be so many people there, so many stalls. How will you ever find me? I haven't shown you a clear picture of myself, and I won't exactly be standing there holding a 'Zooni' sign."

**Abraham:** "Hmm... throwing down a challenge? You really think I won't be able to find you?"

**Zooni:** "Exactly! The exhibition is huge. I'll just be working there like any ordinary girl. Imagine if you walk up to the wrong person and say 'Hello' to a stranger thinking she's Zooni!"

**Abraham:** "Haha, my taste isn't that bad. And listen... you only have to 'search' for people who are lost. You're already at the top of my chat list."

**Zooni:** "You certainly have a way with words. But in real life, it's going to be tough. I'll give you one hint... I'm 5'8". Maybe that will help."

**Abraham:** "Zooni, I don't need a hint. I'll find you through your eyes. The eyes that hold a thousand dreams—and a little bit of fear."

Zooni's heart skipped a beat. *"How does this guy say such deep things?"* she wondered. Her attachment issues tried to pull her back, but Abraham's every word seemed to draw her closer.

**Zooni:** "Don't get too 'filmy' on me! Let's see how your coding skills work in the real world. If you actually find me, I'll let you try my 'Special Chocolate'... for free!"

**Abraham:** "And if I find you, you have to go on a coffee date with me. No riders allowed. Deal?"

**Zooni:** (A small smile playing on her lips) "Deal. Go to sleep now, or you'll be typing my name instead of code at the office tomorrow."

**Abraham:** "I'm already doing that. Goodnight, Zooni. I'm going to start practicing finding you in my dreams."

### **The Ache of Absence**

The next morning, the first thing Zooni did was reach for her phone. She expected a "Good Morning" or some playful jab from Abraham. But the screen was blank.

*"He must be busy..."* she told herself, trying to stay calm.

The day dragged on. Zooni made chocolates, packed orders, and helped her Mama... but her eyes kept darting toward the notification light on her phone. Evening turned into night, and still, there was no sign of him. Zooni suddenly realized just how much her "attachment" had grown. She felt a mix of rising anger and a strange, hollow restlessness.

---

### **11:30 PM**

Zooni was just about to toss her phone aside in frustration when... *Ping!*

**Abraham:** "Missed me a lot, didn't you?"

Zooni's heart did a somersault. With her temper flaring, she fired back a reply.

**Zooni:** "Who told you I was sitting around waiting for you? I was very busy; I practically forgot I'd even talked to an 'Abraham'."

**Abraham:** (Sending a laughing emoji) "Really? That angry? Your reply speed tells me you were holding the phone in your hand. Sorry, yaara. We had a new project launch at the office today; I didn't have a spare second."

**Zooni:** "Then why are you here now? Go to sleep! Go back to your coding!"

**Abraham:** "Zooni... let the anger go. You know, every time I got a break today, I was thinking about your challenge. The exhibition."

Zooni's breathing steadied slightly, but she kept her bold tone.

**Zooni:** "You talk big. We'll see how you find me there."

**Abraham:** "Oh, I'll find you... but you asked how? Listen... I won't just be looking for you. When I get close, I'll recognize that **scent of Chocolate and Vanilla** that lingers on your clothes."

Zooni stared at the screen, her breath hitching. Abraham's tone had suddenly shifted to something so **bold and romantic** that it made her head spin.

**Abraham:** "I'll stand so close to you that you'll feel the warmth of my breath on your face. Even your 5'8" height will feel small when I look into your eyes and say... *'Found you, my Zooni'.*"

Zooni's hands began to tremble. She had never had someone speak to her like this. It wasn't just butterflies in her stomach; it was a full-blown storm. She sat up on her bed, feeling the heat rise to her cheeks.

**Zooni:** (With shaking fingers) "Abraham... what... what are you saying? You're crossing a line."

**Abraham:** "Why? Are you scared? Zooni, I told you, I want to *feel* your presence. I want to see if your heart actually beats as fast as it's beating right now when I lean in to whisper in your ear."

Zooni dropped the phone onto the bed. Her face was flushed crimson. She couldn't decide whether to be angry or to lose herself in the sensation. Abraham had completely disarmed her with nothing but a few messages.

She picked up the phone one last time and typed a single sentence:

**Zooni:** "You... you are so shameless!"

**Abraham:** "Not shameless... just on the path to becoming crazy for you. Go to sleep now, or I'll come and trouble you in your dreams too."

---

Zooni switched off the light and pulled the blanket up to her face, but sleep was a distant memory. Abraham's words about "getting close" echoed in her ears.

The exhibition is drawing near. After all this nervous tension, will Zooni actually be able to face him? Or will she back out of the exhibition entirely?
