Chapter 12 - Chapter Twelve

The world had grown restless. In the New World, the Whitebeard Pirates were a fleet without a compass, Marco staring at the empty seat on the deck where Ace should have been. At the Red Line, Dragon looked out toward the East, his silent second-in-command's absence a growing void in their operations. And at Sabaody Archipelago, the Straw Hat crew sat in the shadows of the mangroves, wondering why their captain, the man who was never late for a fight or a feast, hadn't appeared. The three most dangerous bloodlines in the world had vanished into thin air.

The silence broke in the most mundane of ways. A low-level freelance reporter for the World Economic Journal, a man named Teru with a nose for scandal and a failing bank account, had stopped at a small trade port near Dawn Island to repair his leaky sloop. He had wandered into the woods of Mt. Colubo, hoping to find a rare bird to photograph for a side gig. Instead, he found the scoop of the century. Through his long-range telescopic lens, Teru's hands began to shake so violently he nearly dropped his camera. In a sun-drenched clearing stood four figures.

Click. There was Straw Hat Luffy, laughing as he picked his nose.

Click. There was Chief of Staff Sabo, leaning casually against a tree.

Click. There was "Fire-Fist" Ace, his flames flickering as he roasted a giant piece of meat.

But it was the fourth figure that made Teru's heart stop. A woman with midnight-brown hair and piercing blue eyes, wearing a ruby pendant that glowed like a dying star. She was laughing, her hand resting familiarly on Ace's shoulder. "It's her," Teru whispered, his breath hitching. "The Crimson Mark. The girl who died at Marineford." He didn't wait for a better angle. He scrambled back to his boat, his fingers flying across his portable transponder snail. He knew this wasn't just a story; this was a powder keg. Twenty-four hours later, the news hit the world like a Tsunami. Morgans, the Big News tycoon, had personally overseen the headline, printed in letters so large they took up half the front page.

THE GHOST OF MARINEFORD: THE BROTHERS REUNITE

A Secret Summit on Dawn Island: The Revolutionary, The Straw Hat, and the Fire-Fist, Guarding the "Resurrected" Daughter of Whitebeard!

The image was unmistakable. The four of them, together. The "ASL" bond was no longer a secret, and the return of Maye Newgate was a miracle that felt like a threat to the world's balance.

The office of Fleet Admiral Akainu, smelled of cigar smoke and scorched paper. Sakazuki sat behind his desk, his eyes fixed on the newspaper. His magma-veins pulsed with a low, dangerous glow, charring the edges of the desk. "I put my fist through her heart myself," Akainu growled, his voice a tectonic rumble. "Dead men do not return, and ghosts do not have bounties." "The report is verified, Fleet Admiral," a nervous Captain stammered. "The survivors of the Whitebeard crew are already mobilizing. The world is calling it the 'Second Coming of the Crimson Mark.' If the brothers have her... they have a rallying point for every pirate in the New World." Akainu crushed the newspaper into ash. "Send an Admiral. I don't care how many brothers she has. If she survived once, I will ensure the second time is permanent."

Marco stood at the railing, the wind whipping his blonde hair. He held the paper in his shaking hand, a single tear tracking through the soot on his cheek. He looked at Vista, Jozu, and the others. "She's alive," Marco whispered, a grin finally breaking through a year of mourning. "Ace didn't go crazy. He found her. He actually found our sister." A roar of triumph erupted from the ship, a sound so loud it seemed to part the clouds. "TURN THE SHIP AROUND!" Marco commanded, his blue flames erupting in a magnificent display. "WE'RE GOING TO THE EAST BLUE! WE'RE BRINGING OUR FAMILY HOME!"

---The New World - The Queen Mama Chanter---

Big Mom cackled, her massive hand slamming onto a table full of sweets. "A girl who can return from the dead? Life-force that defies the soul? I want her! Bring me the Crimson Mark! She would make a fine addition to my collection!"

---The New World - The Fullalecheck---

Blackbeard sat in his dark halls, the darkness swirling around his rings. He stared at the photo of Maye, his jagged teeth bared in a grin. "Zehahaha! The Blood-Blood fruit... and a girl who cheated death? That deity's scent is all over this. The gears are turning, boys! The hunt is on!" The brothers didn't know the world was screaming. They were sitting around the fire, Maye practicing making small spheres of blood hover in the air. Suddenly, Sabo's Den Den Mushi began to scream. It wasn't a standard call; it was the emergency signal. At the same time, Luffy's gut, the one that sensed danger better than any Haki, tightened. Ace looked toward the coast, his eyes narrowing as he saw the silhouettes of Marine battleships appearing on the horizon, their sails marked with the scales of Justice. "The peace is over," Ace said, his voice dropping into the cold, commanding tone of a captain. He stood up, his body igniting into a column of defensive fire. "They're coming for her." Maye stood up, the ruby pendant pulsing a warning red against her chest. She didn't feel like a girl from the mountain anymore. She felt the weight of the names the world was shouting: Newgate. Crimson Mark. Princess of the Pirates. "Let them come," Maye said, her voice steady as she felt the blood in her veins start to boil with a power she finally recognized. "I'm not going back to a grave."
