"Have you heard? White Fang's mission failed!"
"Yeah! Apparently, he abandoned the mission to save his comrades. I heard it caused massive losses to the village!"
"How could he do that? Aren't ninja supposed to prioritize the mission? I wonder if this loss will affect us?"
"Hard to say. We still don't know what exactly was lost. Hopefully it doesn't lead to anything serious."
On the road, Shiro Akira suddenly overheard this conversation. His brows immediately furrowed, and he became alert.
"So it's already reached this point? That means when Teacher went out on this mission, he was still set up by Danzo…"
Shiro Akira observed carefully and noticed that among the crowd, there were people deliberately spreading accusations against Sakumo, guiding public opinion.
This was clearly Danzo's handiwork.
"Unfortunately, I still couldn't stop this from happening. Teacher was still too careless…"
However, Shiro Akira knew this was bound to happen sooner or later. Danzo's methods were anything but simple.
Without stopping, he quickened his pace and headed toward the Hatake residence.
Before long, he arrived outside the Hatake compound.
At that moment, a group of people had just left. The man leading them said angrily, "Why did he save me? Damn it! I was already prepared to sacrifice myself! He shouldn't have abandoned the mission!"
Hearing this, Shiro Akira paused.
In the next instant, he flashed forward and blocked the man's path.
"Hm?"
The man froze for a moment. Seeing it was just a kid, he waved his hand impatiently. "What are you staring at, brat? Get lost and stop blocking my way! Bad luck!"
Shiro Akira didn't say a word.
Blue lightning flickered faintly around his body.
In the next moment, he vanished in a flash and kicked out.
The man was, after all, a Jonin, so his reaction wasn't slow. His expression changed instantly as he tried to dodge.
But Shiro Akira's strength and speed had improved tremendously over the past month. Combined with the sudden attack, the man failed to evade completely.
"Bang!"
He was struck squarely in the chest and sent flying, crashing into several people behind him.
Blood sprayed from his mouth.
"You—!"
The man pointed at Shiro Akira in fury, trying to speak.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Shiro Akira didn't give him any chance to talk or fight back. Moving at terrifying speed, he unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks, beating the man mercilessly.
In no time, his face was swollen into a pig's head.
"Stop! Stop!"
The man began begging for mercy.
As for the others who had come with him, they were all cowards. The moment Shiro Akira attacked, they scattered and ran.
Even after severely injuring the man, Shiro Akira had no intention of stopping.
At that moment, a flash of lightning appeared.
Sakumo arrived in front of Shiro Akira and grabbed his fist, stopping him.
"That's enough. Stop. If you continue, things will get out of hand."
"Teacher?"
Seeing Sakumo, Shiro Akira finally stopped.
Sakumo then looked at the man on the ground and said coldly, "Kimura, leave. From now on, our friendship is over."
Earlier, this man had been standing at his doorstep, spouting all kinds of harsh words.
Nothing more than blaming Sakumo for saving him instead of completing the mission.
Talking as if it were righteous—then why didn't he just go die?
No one was stopping him.
Thanks to Shiro Akira's warning a month ago, along with his subtle guidance over the past month, Sakumo's mindset had already changed.
How could he not see that this was Danzo's scheme?
As for the Third Hokage, he was simply watching from the sidelines, sitting back and observing.
In fact, at the moment he had to make that choice, Sakumo had already realized it was a trap targeting him.
But his personal creed did not allow him to abandon his comrades.
So even knowing it was a trap, he still stepped into it.
That didn't mean he would continue to endure everything silently like in the original timeline.
He was the White Fang—not someone made of clay.
"You!"
Seeing Sakumo appear, Kimura was both furious and afraid. His eyes were filled with resentment as he shouted, "You told this brat to do this, didn't you? You really are a hypocrite, Hatake Sakumo! I misjudged you!"
"Even if you didn't say it, I'd still be ashamed to associate with someone like you!"
"Bang!"
Shiro Akira didn't tolerate it for a second.
Before Sakumo could react, he stepped forward and kicked Kimura flying again.
"Get lost! You think you're worthy of being compared to my teacher? You ungrateful bastard—White Fang was blind to save trash like you! Even saving an animal would've earned gratitude!"
"Others criticizing him is one thing—but what right do you have to do so?"
"And it's just one failed mission—one that happened because he saved his comrades! Do you even know how many contributions my teacher has made to Konoha over the years?"
"You think one failure is enough to smear his name?"
"Or are you a spy from another village, deliberately trying to stir up internal conflict?"
"Now get the hell out of my sight. If I ever see you again, I'll beat you again!"
He despised people like this the most.
There was no doubt—this man had been threatened or manipulated by Danzo.
He might have even received benefits, otherwise why would he jump out and slander Sakumo like this?
"You…!"
Kimura's face turned red with anger as he tried to speak.
But under Shiro Akira's killing intent-filled gaze, he swallowed his words and fled in panic.
The surrounding onlookers also began to disperse.
However, many of them started to come to their senses, realizing that Shiro Akira's words made sense.
Who wouldn't want a comrade willing to risk everything to save them?
Perhaps White Fang's actions couldn't be judged as entirely wrong.
After all, he had made countless contributions to Konoha.
The title of hero wasn't given lightly.
One failed mission meant nothing.
