Chapter 35 - Fear, Reverence… and the Weight of Power

"W-W-W-WAIT—!!! That… that's the Guild Master's power?! That's insane!!!"

Eriri practically screamed in the guild chat, her excitement completely exploding.

"This… what kind of power is that?!"

Saeko's voice followed, shaken for the first time. "How did the Guild Master kill something that huge with just a single kunai? And that kunai didn't even hit… so how did it kill the salamander? It even erased its entire body…"

"…That's terrifying."

"…Yeah…"

Asuna hesitated before speaking.

"The Guild Master's eyes… they feel scary."

"It's like… they can erase people."

"I thought I was the only one who felt that fear…"

Utaha added quietly, her tone unusually serious.

"But it seems everyone felt it."

"Is that… some kind of ninjutsu?"

"Most likely," Asuna replied.

"And probably an extremely powerful one."

"…Scary?"

A soft voice interrupted them.

Inori.

"…Why do I feel like… they're beautiful?"

Her tone was gentle, almost confused.

She didn't feel fear.

Not even a little.

When she looked at Ryujin's eyes—

All she saw—

Was something mesmerizing.

Something beyond words.

Utaha paused before replying.

"…They are beautiful."

"But it's the kind of beauty that makes people afraid."

She exhaled slowly.

"Just what kind of power does the Guild Master possess… to erase something like that instantly?"

"Erase…" Asuna murmured.

"I think that's the right word."

"That creature didn't die normally… it just disappeared."

"Then does that mean…"

Saeko spoke again, her voice tight.

"The Guild Master's ability… can erase anything?"

"Not just people…"

"But everything?"

"E-Erase everything…?"

Linglong sounded genuinely frightened.

"That sounds… terrifying…"

"Terrifying? Why?"

Eriri immediately shot back.

"The stronger the Guild Master is, the better for us, right?"

"Think about it—if we ever get into trouble, someone that strong could help us!"

"And you all know his personality, don't you?"

"Do you really think he's the kind of person who would bully us or abuse his power?"

Her words—

Snapped everyone back to reality.

She was right.

Completely right.

If the Guild Master truly wanted to suppress or kill someone in the guild—

He wouldn't need such an ability at all.

Because—

His authority alone was enough.

He could traverse worlds.

He was immune to all damage from guild members.

No one could resist him.

He could expel members.

Erase memories.

Control everything.

And yet—

He had never used any of it.

Not once.

Perhaps those powers existed only as symbols.

A proof of authority.

After all—

What kind of Guild Master had no privileges?

And more importantly—

What if one day…

Someone dangerous joined the guild?

Someone cruel.

Someone who enjoyed harming others.

Then—

Those powers would become necessary.

With that thought—

The fear in their hearts slowly faded.

Replaced by something else.

Curiosity.

Respect.

Awe.

Just how powerful…

Was their Guild Master?

Surely—

That couldn't be all.

There was no way—

A man like him only had one ability.

Back on the battlefield—

Jiraiya stared at Ryujin in complete shock.

"…Is that… the power of his Mangekyō Sharingan?"

His voice was almost hollow.

That kind of power—

Was beyond comprehension.

That salamander—

Stronger than his own summon—

Had been erased in an instant.

Even Orochimaru needed several seconds to recover.

"That Mangekyō… is terrifying."

His golden pupils gleamed with dangerous interest.

But then—

He noticed something.

Blood.

At the corner of Ryujin's eye.

So… there's a price.

Orochimaru's mind raced.

The Sharingan—

Especially the Mangekyō—

Was never without limits.

And Ryujin—

Was no exception.

"That ability… can't be used freely."

He whispered softly.

"There must be severe backlash…"

As one of Konoha's core figures, Orochimaru knew quite a bit about the Uchiha.

Power always came with a cost.

And Ryujin—

Had just revealed his.

Still—

Even with that limitation—

The fact remained.

A single kunai.

A single move.

And a creature like that—

Was erased.

Hanzo stood frozen.

A cold chill spread through his entire body.

He understood now.

Completely.

He had lost.

Excuses didn't matter.

Whether it was carelessness—

Or being caught off guard—

Defeat was defeat.

Ryujin's strength—

Was real.

A true Kage-level powerhouse.

With terrifying techniques.

And a Mangekyō that bordered on the absurd.

Even if he had gone all out from the very beginning—

Even if he had fought alongside his summon—

Victory was never guaranteed.

And now—

His summon was gone.

Completely gone.

Dead.

Erased.

For a brief moment—

Hanzo's killing intent surged.

He wanted to rush forward.

To fight Ryujin to the death.

To avenge his fallen companion.

But—

He stopped himself.

He couldn't.

If he died—

The Hidden Rain Village would fall with him.

Everything would collapse.

Hanzo clenched his fists tightly.

His heart burned with rage—

But his mind remained cold.

He could not die.

No matter what—

He had to survive.
