Chapter 3 - A Journey to the Sea

The bus slowly stopped at the school gate.

The teachers asked everyone to line up properly to get on the bus. Students stood in a line, talking excitedly and laughing with each other.

Nena stood first in the line. She looked inside the bus and quickly chose the last window seat.

One by one, everyone got on the bus.

The teacher looked around and asked,

"Is everyone here?"

"Yes!" the students replied together.

The bus engine started, and slowly, the journey began.

Nena sat quietly by the window.

As the bus moved forward, she began to feel warm inside. She looked outside as the familiar roads slowly started to change.

Houses became fewer.

The sky looked brighter.

A cool wind gently touched her hair and face.

Nena smiled softly.

Inside the bus, everyone was laughing, eating snacks, and even singing songs. Some teachers were also joining in.

But Nena stayed quiet.

She simply watched the view outside, enjoying every moment.

After a few hours, the bus started moving down the hills.

Nena leaned forward slightly, hoping to see the sea soon.

Suddenly, her friend shouted,

"Look! The sea!"

Nena quickly looked outside.

There it was.

A wide, beautiful blue sea.

Her eyes lit up with excitement.

Soon, the bus stopped near the seaside road.

Students quickly stood up, ready to get down.

But the teacher said,

"One by one!"

Everyone waited, then slowly stepped down from the bus.

The teacher then said,

"We will make groups. Each group will have five students and one teacher."

Nena and her friends quickly decided to stay in the same group.

After everything was arranged, they walked toward the beach.

Nena slowly walked down the steps… then suddenly ran toward the sea with her friends.

They laughed loudly, their voices mixing with the sound of the waves.

Water splashed around them as they played happily.

"Be careful!" the teacher called out, taking photos of them.

Nena smiled as the wind touched her face.

She felt free.

While playing, Nena noticed another group nearby.

A teacher was giving something to the students.

A board.

Nena watched curiously.

"What is that?" she thought.

She had only gone to the beach twice before, when she was very little with her father.

She didn't know about things like that.

She turned to her friend and asked,

"Do you want to try that?"

Her friend replied,

"That's for boys."

Nena stayed quiet.

"Okay…" she thought.

And continued playing.

After some time, Nena came out of the water and sat on the sand with her friends.

They started building shapes in the sand.

The teacher, wearing sunglasses, continued taking photos of them.

After a few minutes, Nena made something.

It looked a bit like food… or maybe something else.

Her friend asked,

"What is this?"

Nena smiled and said,

"It's a sweet… but maybe it melted."

They both laughed.

"Show me yours," Nena said.

Her friend showed her a neat little sand structure.

Nena looked surprised.

"Wow! That's really good! You might become an artist in the future!"

Her friend shook her head.

"No, no… I'm not that good."

They laughed together.

After playing in the sand, the teacher called out,

"Lunch time!"

Nena and her friends quickly ran toward a small shop nearby.

Nena chose a strawberry ice cream.

The weather was hot, and she wanted something cold.

Her friends chose something spicy.

Nena looked at them and asked,

"Why are you eating spicy food in this heat?"

Her friend smiled and said,

"It's okay!"

She even offered Nena a small bite.

But Nena quickly shook her head.

"No thanks!"

They sat together and started eating.

The teacher paid the shopkeeper.

They had already finished their home snacks during the bus ride.

After a few moments, Nena's friend started coughing slightly.

Her face didn't look good.

The spicy food was too much.

"Water… water…" she said.

The teacher quickly gave her a water bottle.

She drank and slowly felt better.

Nena started laughing.

"Why did you eat that if you can't handle it?" she teased, holding her ice cream.

Her friend looked at her and said,

"At least I can try! You can't even eat spicy!"

They both started laughing again.

Time passed quickly.

They played, talked, and enjoyed every moment.

After a few hours, the sun slowly began to set.

The sky turned orange and golden.

The teacher called out,

"Everyone, take your bags! We're going back!"

Nena and her friends checked their things carefully.

Then they stood in line again.

Before getting on the bus, Nena looked back at the sea one last time.

The waves moved gently under the sunset.

The sky reflected on the water like a painting.

Nena stood still for a moment.

Something soft filled her heart.

Then she smiled.

And got on the bus.

As she sat near the window again, she thought quietly,

"I can't wait to tell Mom everything…"
