Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Pet Beast Nurturing School

In the world of Beast Tamers, there are many fierce and battle-loving Pet Beasts, but there are also many that are naturally gentle and love caring for other living beings.

For example, the Antique Doll at Dr. Xu's research institute. It is said to be a Ghost-type Pet Beast born when the soul of a deceased mother takes residence inside a doll. It will proactively protect abandoned younglings and care for them as if they were its own children.

Or the Clam Maiden, a Fairy-type Pet Beast with both clam and humanoid forms. It is said to be able to distinguish good from evil. It likes to draw close to kind-hearted people and secretly helps them manage the household and take care of their families.

There is also the Sweet Attendant, likewise a humanoid Fairy-type Pet Beast, though smaller in size and more like a little fairy. It has a Bug attribute and bee-like traits, and like a worker bee, it diligently takes care of all kinds of Pet Beasts. It can also produce honey, and supposedly, the better its mood, the sweeter and tastier the honey it makes.

There are also Happiness Angels, White Healers, and all sorts of other kind-hearted Pet Beasts.

As the times developed, these Pet Beasts gradually integrated into human society, taking on professions such as nannies, nurses, kindergarten teachers, breeding assistants, and more, earning people's deep trust and affection.

A nanny-type Pet Beast school was a place that trained these Pet Beasts.

These kind Pet Beasts would study all kinds of nurturing and childcare knowledge here, looking forward to one day meeting a kind Beast Tamer, or helping even more people and Pet Beasts.

Some of these kind Pet Beasts would also stay at the school, taking care of the young Pet Beasts there and serving as their teachers.

And when Jiang Xing arrived at the nanny-type Pet Beast school, this was the scene he saw—

In the flowerbeds across the campus, all kinds of tiny, adorable Pet Beast younglings were playing together with children, while several Sweet Attendants floated nearby like nannies, keeping watch over them.

Over by the distant teaching building, a human girl and a Clam Maiden stood shoulder to shoulder, wearing the same uniform and chatting in the corridor like classmates.

The entire campus was filled with a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

'"It looks like heaven…'

Jiang Xing sighed with emotion and asked, "Principal Liu, does your school have everything from kindergarten to university?"

"Only kindergarten and high school." The woman beside him had her hair neatly pinned up, with more than half of it dyed silver. Fine wrinkles lined the corners of her eyes, and when she smiled, they became even more visible, yet somehow only made her look more kind and gentle.

She was the principal of this school, and also a top-tier Pet Beast Breeder.

Jiang Xing wanted to recruit a batch of assistants to reduce the pressure of nurturing Pet Beasts himself, so through Dr. Xu, he got in touch with her.

Principal Liu took this very seriously and personally came out to show him around the school.

She explained, "Compared to ordinary kindergartens, many Beast Tamer parents trust nanny-type Pet Beasts more, and they also want their children to come into contact with Pet Beasts from an early age…"

"On top of that, our school also serves as a kind of breeding house. We raise many younglings of kind-hearted Pet Beasts here, and they are naturally fond of being close to children…"

"So we opened a kindergarten division. That way, we can meet the needs of those parents while also letting the children live together with them."

"As for the high school division, we offer courses in preschool education, nursing, nurturing, and related fields."

"Humans can also take part in these courses, learning how to work together with Pet Beasts and improve their mutual understanding…"

This really is nice.

Jiang Xing saw a child trip and fall while playing around, scraping their knee red and immediately tearing up.

At that moment, a Sweet Attendant, fluttering a pair of translucent wings and looking like a tiny fairy, flew over. With a light tap of its finger, a healing droplet fell, and the injury instantly recovered.

Then the Sweet Attendant lifted its hand again, condensed a little ball of golden honey, placed it into the child's mouth, and gently stroked the child's forehead in comfort.

The child immediately smiled again.

Watching that scene, Jiang Xing actually felt a little sour.

Kids in the Beast Taming World have it this good?!

'Why didn't I have a Beast Taming kindergarten when I was a kid?!'

'I want a little fairy to feed me honey too!'

"Jiang Xing," Principal Liu's voice pulled his attention back. "I heard from Dr. Xu that you want to recruit assistants for your research institute."

She asked, "May I ask what kind of work it would involve, specifically?"

"For now, mainly helping me take care of some Water-type and Dragon-type Pet Beasts, and recording their growth data. The number is around a thousand."

"Later on, the number of Pet Beasts may continue to increase, and there will likely be many younglings that need care…"

Pet Beasts could reproduce on their own.

The Rainbow Dragon Hatchling wasn't very clear yet, but the Golden-Patterned Koi's breeding speed was quite outrageous.

After all, as a gentle ornamental fish, its strength was very weak, and its ecological niche in the wild was not high.

The reason it could spread across rivers and lakes everywhere was entirely due to its reproductive ability—its breeding speed was comparable to Bug-type Pet Beasts.

Now that there was no survival pressure, they would reproduce rapidly until they completely occupied the entire artificial lake.

At present, second-generation Golden-Patterned Koi had already begun appearing in the lake outside the research institute. No one even knew which fish had produced them…

It was precisely this breeding capability that allowed the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling's popularity to surge while its price could still remain relatively stable.

If you couldn't buy one, you could always just go fishing.

Aside from natural reproduction, once Jiang Xing had more free time in the future, he would also actively breed more second- and third-generation Pet Beasts.

After all, not all Pet Beasts could be captured in large numbers in the wild.

A qualified Pet Beast research institute had to possess corresponding breeding capabilities in order to sustain research progress.

Some famous research institutes can even breed certain extremely rare Pet Beast populations into large-scale groups, turning them into representative species of the institute.

"Breeding-focused." Principal Liu noted down the requirement.

Jiang Xing said, "In addition, there needs to be some healing capability—to properly treat injured Pet Beasts…"

The little dragon had been fighting more and more fiercely, relying on its Unceasing Heart.

It often went out for a stroll and came back covered in injuries. No one knew where it got them.

Considering its battle-loving nature, it was best to prepare a nurse in advance.

"Healing-focused."

Jiang Xing added, "Also, someone to help clean the research institute—dust, stains… and it would be even better if they could cook."

At the beginning, he had thought the research institute was too small, not as big as his teacher's.

Now he no longer had that thought at all—

The larger the space and the more things there were, the more areas needed to be cleaned to keep everything tidy.

This wasn't a magical world where a single "clean everything" spell could solve it.

If Pet Beasts used moves, they would only end up destroying the institute instead.

And Jiang Xing didn't even have enough time for research—how could he possibly have time to clean?

After nearly a month, the interior of the research institute—especially the rooms that weren't used often—had already gathered a layer of dust, with cobwebs everywhere.

If Jiang Xing didn't want the institute to turn into a haunted house in the future, he would have to recruit assistants to maintain it.

The same went for meals.

Jiang Xing didn't even have time for research, let alone cooking. He had been ordering takeout for two months straight.

Add to that the pile of dirty clothes stacked like a small hill…

His personal life could only be described as "a mess."

"Nanny-type." Principal Liu nodded.

These were all common needs among Pet Beast researchers.

She had introduced Pet Beast assistants to many research institutes before and was very familiar with this. She had already begun thinking about which outstanding students in the school she could recommend to Jiang Xing.

Just as she was thinking, she heard Jiang Xing continue: "…Of course, if it's possible to invite one of the school's Pet Beast teachers to serve as the steward of my research institute, and help me breed more Pet Beasts that meet these requirements, that would be even better."

"A teacher… that won't do!"
