Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: An Ancient Legend Becomes Reality

The Fish King, on the brink of exhaustion, should have fallen far from the Dragon Gate.

But lifted by the many Golden-Patterned Koi, it surged upward midair, transforming into a streak of golden light—and leapt across the seven-colored arch.

At that moment, every onlooker unconsciously held their breath.

Before countless eyes, the white glow of evolution ignited!

"Roar!!"

Amid a dragon's cry that echoed through the waterfall, a slender figure burst out from the light.

Its body was long and lithe like a sea serpent. Above its snow-white underbelly were scales that gleamed like gold. Its head bore a striking resemblance to the legendary Azure Dragon, crowned with a pair of coral-like dragon horns.

Most eye-catching of all were its long whiskers, flowing beard, and fin-like mane…

They were composed of countless fragments of seven-colored light, like a gathered rainbow—vivid, dazzling, and breathtakingly beautiful!

At the sight of that dreamlike figure, the tourists widened their eyes and couldn't help but shout out that single word—

"Dragon!"

The koi that had leapt over the Dragon Gate had truly evolved into a dragon.

They had truly witnessed history.

At this moment, an ancient legend had become reality.

Countless phones captured this historic scene.

And after the initial excitement, as they watched the golden-scaled rainbow dragon dancing in the air, a strange realization dawned on them.

This dragon's size… seemed a bit small. Even… kind of cute?

They weren't mistaken.

When the golden-scaled rainbow dragon descended from the sky and came closer, Jiang Xing took one look and saw that its dragon body was only as thick as a wrist, and just over a meter long—like a miniature, pocket-sized baby dragon.

At that moment, the little dragon let out a crisp "muu, muu" cry, circling around Jiang Xing as it flew.

It then flew over the water, above the school of Golden-Patterned Koi, scattering specks of rainbow light.

Even without a contract, Jiang Xing could feel its excitement and joy.

It had finally fulfilled its dream—transforming from an ordinary little koi into a true dragon!

It had leapt across the Dragon Gate!

Once he calmed down, Jiang Xing's confusion also faded.

A small size was actually normal.

In the Beast Taming world, Species Tier hierarchies were extremely strict. Extraordinary, Commander, Monarch, Overlord… each major tier—and even each sublevel—had enormous differences.

There was almost no such thing as an Extraordinary bee defeating an Overlord Pet Beast.

The Golden-Patterned Koi was only a Low Extraordinary Tier species. Even after evolving into a dragon-type Pet Beast, it was impossible for it to instantly ascend to an Overlord Tier species.

Right now, it had only just shed its fish body and become a young dragon.

It still had a long way to go before becoming a true divine dragon.

In plain terms—there was still room for further evolution.

"Jiang Xing, congratulations."

A pleasant voice pulled Jiang Xing out of his thoughts.

Su Muli smiled lightly. "A koi leaping the Dragon Gate—turning the weakest Golden-Patterned Koi into a true dragon-type Pet Beast… Even among official researchers, this would be considered a rare research achievement. Your mentor will definitely be very pleased."

Although in the Beast Taming world there were countless Pet Beasts, and every so often researchers would develop new evolution forms and publish them as papers…

Even a second-year student like Jiang Xing was expected to submit an evolution paper as a final assignment.

But in reality, the vast majority of such papers focused on common attributes—Commander Tier or even Extraordinary Tier evolution forms.

Evolution paths involving noble, high-potential dragon-type Pet Beasts were usually the domain of top-tier researchers.

For Jiang Xing to use this as his final paper—even the strictest professor would find no fault.

"It's all thanks to the move data you lent me, Senior. Without it, it would've been very hard for me to complete this research alone…"

Jiang Xing said modestly.

Based on his understanding of her, she normally wouldn't care about such small matters—she would just wave it off and leave casually.

But this time, Su Muli curled her lips into a smile.

"You're right. So how do you plan to repay me?"

"Eh?"

Hearing the slightly suggestive tone, Jiang Xing's heart suddenly raced, his eyes widening.

Could it be that Senior meant… wait, this is bad, my stomach isn't great…

But soon, Jiang Xing noticed that Su Muli wasn't even looking at him. Following her gaze, he saw the rainbow baby dragon playing over the water, trying to get the fish to challenge it again—and immediately understood.

"Once I finish my paper, I'll select an excellent Golden-Patterned Koi, train it properly, and give it to you!"

As expected, Su Muli revealed a satisfied smile.

"No need to go through that much trouble. Once you publish your paper, just let me take a look."

As a water-type researcher—and a King-Class Beast Tamer—

How could she possibly miss out on such a dragon-type Pet Beast that combined both appearance and strength?

It just so happened that her spiritual power had recently advanced, and she had gained a new contract slot.

She could completely reserve it for this brand-new Pet Beast developed by Jiang Xing!

As for the fact that it had only just completed one evolution, and its future Species Tier upper limit was still unknown…

It could only be said that in the Beast Taming world, dragon-type Pet Beasts were already supreme among beasts—but those resembling the legendary Azure Dragon, known as True Dragon-types, were even above dragons themselves.

Their future Species Tier upper limit would be at least Overlord Tier!

That was the potential of divine dragon bloodlines!

"Alright. Evolution is only the beginning. You still need to organize this new Pet Beast's Species Tier, moves, talents… Only after completing the full paper can it be recorded in the Beast Compendium."

Su Muli glanced around and noticed that the distant tourists, unable to contain themselves, were already trying to bypass barriers—some even climbing over them—to get closer to the rainbow baby dragon for a better look.

With a thought, the Storm Sea Lizard beside her received the command and unleashed the power of water.

The river surged, sweeping the fish into a large tank nearby.

The rainbow baby dragon also flew over.

"Let's go. I'll take you back to school first."

Jiang Xing and Su Muli stood atop the Storm Sea Lizard as it rose into the sky like a dragon, carrying the tank with it.

The tourists could only watch as the rainbow baby dragon followed it into the horizon.

No problem—this Dragon Gate leap had already been more than satisfying. They had taken plenty of photos—time to flood their social media with them!

As the tourists excitedly pulled out their phones—

High above, unnoticed, a fluffy pink cloud opened a pair of bright eyes and curiously looked into the distance.

"Huh?"

At the water-type Pet Beast breeding farm, by the fish pond—

Several anglers sat by their rods, patiently waiting for a bite.

At that moment, a man in a sunhat couldn't help but speak.

"Sigh… ever since the Fish King disappeared, it's felt a lot quieter."

"Yeah… no one comes to challenge it anymore."

Another man beside him nodded in agreement.

Waiting for fish to bite just wasn't as interesting without watching someone challenge the Fish King.

Come to think of it, it had been over a month since the Fish King was taken away.

Who knew whether that young man had managed to evolve it into a dragon…

Just as the anglers were reminiscing, one of them suddenly jumped up, shouting—

"Holy sh—!!"

"Why are you yelling so loud? You'll scare the fish away!"

The others were startled and complained.

But the man held up his phone, eyes full of excitement.

"Look! That Fish King from before—it really turned into a dragon!"
