Chapter 2 - Wasteland Monsters

I rush deep into the warehouse that is stacked with piles of debris boulders. No signs of what was once was a place of business with aisles of products ready to be loaded on trucks. Now all that is reduced to radioactive dust under my boots.

The android hugs tight around my neck, her big blue eyes shinning off my chest. My cloak's power is getting low, so I won't be able to use my invisibility mode for some time. I dart into an old office space, with cubicles and desk eerily preserved by spider webs. I brust through the door of a empty office space.

DEET-deet, my oxygen mask is getting low. I collapse with the android still holding onto my neck on the ground. It's only a matter of time before that Executioner android and Red Cobra gangsters find us. Sell her for scraps and take my eye out after they kill me. Too bad for them everything my ocular camera caputres goes to a hard drive I stashed in a run down bomb shelter on the other side of New Haven. But before I can get there. I need to figure out what to do with android that now lays on the ground staring at me.

Very old model android that seems to be in ment condition besides a few scratches on her knees and elbows. I've only heard about these generation one models, they are actually wroth a lot of credits. She might be my way back into the United Earth Military.

She sits up, her eyes glow blue. She turns her head robotically left and right. She stares right at me, but as if she is looking through me. Her head stops suddenly awkwardly facing to the left.

"Detected Hostiles," She says in a mechanical voice.

I place my hands on her shoulders. Her head snaps around facing me with a smile. Her blue eyes stopped glowing.

"Hey, cutie, thanks for breaking my fall," She says now with an innocent voice.

Perplexed, I ask...

"Are you okay, did you malfunction just now,"

She just smiles.

"Um, nope, could you do me a favor," She asks.

"Sure, but can I do it while we are moving," I demand.

"That's the thing, I need you to fixing my settings," She demands.

"What's wrong with your settings," I grumble.

She giggles, I feel mildly embarrassed.

Her arm seems be to stiff as she tries move her arm, hand and finger in position to point at her chest plate.

"You have to switch my motion to automatic," she explains.

"Your settings, are behind your chest plate," I ask.

"Yes, just push, and it will pop off," She smiles...

DEEt-Deet- Boom!

A laser blast zips right past me smashing into the wall in front of me...

"Found you Inspector," says the Executioner Android as he stomps inside the office.

I stand up holding the android in my arms. Behind me is a huge whole in the wall leading to the Wastelands. My oxygen is tank low, and he'll just hunt me down. The only thing I can do here, is fight...

I draw my laser gun charging it up, The Executioner Android does the same.

Then... The android I am holding lets out screeching sound. A sound a so piercing that me and the Executioner Android drop our laser guns falling to our knees. The screeching stops, and she passes out. The Executioner Android is short circuiting emitting electrical sparks on the ground. I grab my laser gun ready to make a break for it... Then I stop noticing the female android on the ground, her body all twisted up like an action figure...

I think about Mila, and pick her up too and then dash out the hole in the wall into the Wastelands.

Rushing through the gravely ground, my knees get heavy from the weight of the android I now carry on my back. She is still unconscious and she gets heavier with each step.

The rain falls harder making it impossible to see. I need to get back to the city and find a cheap inn. But the winds mixed with dust is distorting my sense of direction.

Up ahead is a cave, that I hope is empty. I rush there glad to find shelter from the rain. I lay the android on her back and examine her. Her head is bald, and her face is synthetic but human. her body is twisted by not broken. Her arms, wrists, ankles and legs are bent in unnatural positions.

"So, her settings," I think out loud.

I pace around, I don't know much about robotics. I follow her instruction and gently place my hands on the lumps on her chest. Synthetic, molds warmly under my hands I press down and her chest plate pops open.

A keyboard, wires and motherboard all surrounding a touch screen. I press the power button. The screen lights up with a menu. Activation, Settings, and Rescue mode. I pick settings.

The settings section has a bunch of options, I scroll until I find motion. I open that setting and see that her motion is set to remote control. That's peculiar, was someone controlling her movements?

I switch her motion setting to automatic. Her arms, wrists, legs and ankles snap into place. She is still unconscious. I navigate to the main screen of the menu. I pick activate... It asks if I am sure I want to activate storage unit. Confused, I pick yes....

Her eyes glow blue.... She sits ups....

"Ahhhhh," she screams.

"Hey you are safe now," I reassure her.

"No, they are all around us.," She panics.

She stands up starting to run out the cave.

"Who is all around us," I ask cutting her off.

She pushes past me with great strength, I fall down.

She runs into the dust mixed rain.

"RARRRR," monsters roaring in the distance.

That's not good, I rush after the android into the rain. My laser gun is charging and ready to take aim. I'm sprinting maybe 10 feet behind the Android running ahead of me.

I can see them in the fog starting to incircle us, with intense speed disappearing in the heavy falling rain. I see the android running ahead in the distance. I think of Mila... Why did she leave... Why did she run?

I reach out for the android. I fall like the rain in the mud.... I can hear the mutants getting closer. Closer to my death.
