Jess was jolted to the present by a knock on the door .
"Jess? Are u awake?'
That voice .
No.
No ,no,no....
Her eyes darted to foot as if to confirm if she heard it right.
Her sister. Her hand subconsciously reached for her head , obviously there was no bullet wound but it hurt as though it were there .
Images flashed _ blood, cold eyes, that same voice stripped of warmth. But now ....now it sounded normal.Soft. Almost concerned.
Like nothing ever happened.
Like she hadn't _
Jess squeezed her eyes shut fora second trying to push it all back.
Think.
Think.
"Jess?" the voice came a little closer this time. " Are u there"
The handle turned.
The door creaker softly as her sister stepped in, looking as innocent as she did the day I died.
Jess's grip on the sheets tightened.
"... you're awake," her sister said , a small smile forming on her lips , her eyes seemingly hiding the contempt in them.
" Good. I was worried "
Jess said nothing. She just stared, trying to suppress the urge to murder her sister .
" Jess?" her sister tilted her head slightly, the smile fading just a bit." Why are u looking at me like that ?"
Jess's lip parted.
A thousand things rushed to her mind but none made it out.
" I..I just woke up " Jess said after some time.
" Clearly," she chuckled. " You look like you've seen a ghost."
" I'm just tired."
" Hm." Her sister took a few steps further into the room completely at ease, too at ease. "We'll go home quickly father is expecting you". There seemed to be a hidden meaning in her words.
"Sure I replied."
She turned around to leave, but stopped to observe my reaction, trying to find a trace of fear maybe or hesitation.
