Chapter 26 - "Silence Before the Strom"

The pressure in the Yaoyorozu mansion had reached a boiling point. For Momo, those crime scene photos weren't just evidence—they were a mirror reflecting her own descent into what the law considered "criminality." Under Wu Xuan's influence, the rigid "Quirk Management Laws" she had once memorized had been replaced by the raw, kinetic reality of street combat.

The Great Escape

As Momo's trembling became visible to the seasoned eyes of Tsukauchi and All Might, Wu Xuan acted with the decisive calm of a veteran. He didn't wait for a breakdown. He stood up, firmly taking Momo's hand.

"Excuse me," he said to her mother, his voice steady and devoid of guilt. "She's exhausted from our training. I think she needs to rest."

The intervention worked. The Yaoyorozu parents, blinded by their affection, saw only a tired daughter and a protective friend. They ushered her away, leaving the two investigators alone with a fifteen-year-old who possessed the poker face of a seasoned yakuza.

The Verbal Duel

With Momo gone, the dynamic shifted. Tsukauchi pointed to the photo of the destroyed factory. "This level of destruction... we estimate only a Top 15 Hero could achieve this."

"Really? That's terrifying," Wu Xuan replied, a faint, mocking smile playing on his lips. "I hope All Might is here to tell us to stay safe. I'm strong, but I'm certainly no Top 15 Hero."

All Might, who was notoriously poor at interrogation, found himself stumped. Wu Xuan wasn't denying the possibility of the power; he was simply refusing to claim it.

"Could you perform such a feat, Wu Xuan?" Tsukauchi pressed, his eyes searching for a crack in the boy's armor.

"I don't know," Wu Xuan drawled. "I push my limits every day. What was impossible yesterday might be easy tomorrow. But today? Who can say?"

It was a masterpiece of ambiguity. Without witnesses (as Wu Xuan always let his victims flee) and without a paper trail (thanks to Giran's expertise), the police were chasing a ghost.

The Aftermath: Two Paths

As the two investigators drove back toward U.A., All Might—now in his skeletal form—looked out at the setting sun.

"He's changed, Tsukauchi," All Might murmured. "His physical presence, his aura... he's undergone training just as brutal as Midoriya's. Maybe even more so."

Tsukauchi nodded. "He's a fox. We have no evidence, but we have to keep a close watch. We can't let a talent like that slide into the underworld."

Meanwhile, back in his luxurious room at the mansion, Wu Xuan flipped through his calendar.

Two months until U.A. begins.

He decided it was a good time to rest. He had pushed [The World] to the brink, and the "Ghost Battles" were drawing too much heat. Besides, once he entered Class 1-A, he knew the "protagonist aura" would bring the villains directly to his doorstep. He wouldn't need to hunt anymore; he would just need to wait.

Knock, knock.

"Xuan-kun... are you... are you awake?"

Momo's voice, small and uncertain, drifted through the door.

A single relevant follow-up question:

Do you think Momo is coming to Wu Xuan to express her guilt and potentially quit their training, or is she seeking reassurance that they won't get caught before school starts?
