Chapter 33 -  Poachers

[Baby Pokémon Food • Litleo Edition (C)]

Chosen with colors Litleo enjoy, suitable for Pokémon in the juvenile stage.

Cooking Effect:Growth Acceleration — Moderately increases the growth rate of young Pokémon and slightly improves their potential.

Hayato was quite surprised.

It could actually enhance a Pokémon's potential.

And this was only C-rank, a dish he had casually prepared.

The baby Kangaskhan that hadn't even been born yet would certainly be lucky.

The cabin could barely fit Kangaskhan alone, let alone a large Pokémon like Pyroar.

So Hayato asked Kangaskhan to help carry the table outside to the open space in front of the house.

Thus began a battle centered around delicious food.

Pyroar and Kangaskhan competed fiercely over the Spicy Boiled Pork Slices , neither willing to yield. Both Pokémon ended up sweating from the intense spiciness.

The female Pyroar was far more refined.

After all, she was a mother.

However, once she tasted the meat skewers, even she froze for a moment.

They were unexpectedly delicious.

Looking at the three Litleo beside her, the female Pyroar showed a loving smile.

The baby Pokémon food prepared for them was devoured instantly. The flavor perfectly matched their tastes.

After finishing, the three Litleo ran over to Hayato and began circling him while acting spoiled.

It perfectly demonstrated the saying: where there's food, there's family.

Their affection toward Hayato rose rapidly.

In their eyes, this human seemed capable of conjuring unbelievably delicious food out of thin air.

On Hayato 's left, Cinccino nibbled slowly on glutinous rice cakes.

Every now and then it glanced at Hayato and flashed him a sweet smile.

Its eyes were filled entirely with him.

As for the Mudbray , they finished dinner in a flash. Since it wasn't bath-and-sleep time yet, they hurried off to play in the mud again.

Not far away, on the grassland, Chatot flapped its wings.

Returning from feeding time, it led an even larger flock of birds as they flew over the ranch and back into the forest.

It seemed that Chatot had conquered all the bird Pokémon on Route 12.

Becoming a true king of birds.

For most Trainers, drifting through the world like wandering travelers was normal.

Moments like this—simple gatherings with friends—made Hayato deeply immersed in the atmosphere.

Perhaps this was why most Trainers, after traveling for several years, eventually chose to stop their journeys.

They would settle down with their partners and Pokémon, living a peaceful life called home.

The guests and host were all satisfied, and the Pyroar family prepared to leave.

Pyroar walked away with a full belly, returning to its usual lazy demeanor.

Who would have guessed that this gluttonous and lazy-looking Pokémon was actually the guardian of order on Route 12?

Yet whenever trouble arose, it was incredibly reliable.

The female Pyroar rubbed affectionately against her mate, then said goodbye to Kangaskhan and urged the Litleo to follow.

The three Litleo stood there hesitating.

They looked left, looked right, and kept glancing back as they slowly followed their parents.

Waaah!

Goodbye delicious food…

I'll definitely come back someday!

After seeing the Pyroar family off, Hayato carried Cinccino and returned to the ranch.

It was already getting late.

He wondered whether the girl he and Pyroar had rescued had woken up yet.

Tomorrow morning, he planned to visit the Miltank Ranch.

Since he had chosen to get involved, he intended to see it through.

Only after understanding the whole situation and safely returning her to her family would he feel at ease.

In fact, Hayato saw a bit of his younger self in her.

Back then, he had also recklessly run into the wilderness.

In the end, he had been rescued by a traveling Trainer and escorted back home.

Hmm… that Trainer seemed to be from the Unova Region, and had a Bouffalant with him.

Before going to bed, Hayato went to the  Mudbray Stable and thoroughly washed the Mudbray from head to hoof.

He repeatedly reminded them not to go play in the mud again and to sleep properly.

Those three had a criminal record when it came to sneaking off to play.

"mud~mud~"

The Mudbray lowered their heads and returned to their little sleeping spots.

"Go to sleep quickly. You can play again tomorrow."

After patting each of their heads, Hayato closed the stable door and yawned repeatedly.

Returning to the Ranch Cabin, Hayato hugged the soft and fragrant Cinccino, called Kangaskhan over, and lay down on the bed.

Before long, Hayato drifted off to sleep.

Soft snores soon echoed through the room.

In the middle of the night, Kangaskhan quietly woke up and gently covered Hayato with a blanket.

The next day arrived with bright sunshine.

It was a rare day of beautiful weather.

Hayato woke up early and released the Mudbray to let them run freely.

After preparing breakfast, he brought one Mudbray with him and headed toward the Miltank Ranch.

After a full night, the girl they rescued yesterday should have woken up by now.

If he could send her home early, he could return and prepare for planting.

Today was definitely not a day for relaxing.

Half an hour later—

Inside the small clinic at the Miltank Ranch, the girl on the bed looked weakly at Hayato , her eyes slightly moist.

"Name?" Hayato asked.

"Korrina."

"Age?"

"Twelve."

"Running into the wilderness at twelve? That's pretty bold," Hayato sighed.

Then he remembered he wasn't much better himself.

The first time he insisted on traveling, he had been ten years old.

He blamed that entirely on Ash Ketchum.

Later he learned that only at sixteen could someone officially register as a rookie Trainer with the Pokémon League.

"Korrina, Hayato brought you back from the wilderness yesterday," Pani explained from the side.

Korrina glanced at Pani, then cautiously looked at Hayato before speaking shyly.

"Thank you for saving me, big brother."

"No need to thank me. It's one of the responsibilities of a League Trainer."

Hayato waved his hand casually before asking with concern,

"How are you feeling now? Any discomfort?"

Korrina shook her head.

Aside from her still-pale face, she felt completely fine.

"That's good." Hayato asked in a casual tone, "So why did you go into the wilderness in the first place?"

Suddenly, Korrina seemed to remember something.

She urgently grabbed Hayato 's hand.

"Big brother, we need to notify Officer Jenny immediately! Riolu and many other Pokémon have been captured!"

"Huh?"

Large-scale capturing of wild Pokémon was commonly associated with people known as poachers.

If Hayato remembered correctly, those individuals who operated on the fringes of League law had a loosely organized group called the Hunter Organization.

Most of them were usually active in the Sinnoh Region.

He hadn't expected them to appear in Kalos now.

A trace of coldness flashed in Hayato 's eyes, though he quickly concealed it.

"Korrina, do you remember the approximate location of those poachers?"

"Could you take me there?"

Korrina hesitated.Ace Trainer

"But… big brother…"

In her eyes, the young man in front of her didn't look like a Trainer at all.

She was reluctant to drag an ordinary person into danger.

"Hahaha."

Hayato chuckled and pulled something out of the satchel he carried with him.

It was his Ace Trainer credential.

A special Ultra Ball with star decorations embedded on its surface.

"You see, big brother here used to be an Ace Trainer."

"Those poachers won't be my opponents."
