The child shrieked when Ferra reached for a needle beside the recovery doorway, scrambling behind Loccy's raised armored knee instantly. Ferra froze above the tool, showed both empty palms, and lifted its whole case well clear of that terrified sight.
She set the closed case outside the doorway and came back empty-handed, "Away, it's going away, I promise."
"My hands stay right here, and nothing comes anywhere near your horns."
Loccy stayed seated with her armor perfectly still, keeping the wrapped child beside her knees without adding another arm.
Vella approached on her knees and halted where the patient's chosen distance began, her fingertips offered low.
She tapped her own wrapping, then rested the empty hand on the floor, "Wrist again?"
The child jerked her arm under the blanket instead, so Vella lowered both palms flat onto the flagstones.
Loccy kept her shoulders motionless while those frightened eyes searched the spot where the strange metal vanished.
