Ferra reopened the western archive under Hajin's recorded commission order once six temporary supports stood along its inspection route.
Six new beams guarded the working aisle without replacing the eight loaded wedges that still held the damaged vault up. Hajin followed Didi with his Rings dormant and his arm wrapped, while two monitors flanked her and Eirwen took station.
"Six beams and eight wedges," he muttered, squinting up at the ceiling, "and I'm still betting the roof hates us."
"The roof hates everybody, so don't take it personally," Ferra grumbled.
Juna checked the eastern stairs before the first record case entered the stabilized aisle, nose working at every landing.
"Stairs are clear, nobody's hiding up there," she called down, ears flicking, "and nobody brought food either, which is honestly worse."
"You ate an hour ago."
"An hour is a long time!"
Loccy stayed in the corridor under her rest order, slumped against the wall with her hammer propped beside her knee.
