The cracked crown crumbled in the Queen's hands, its dull jewels melting into one thumb-long silver shard. It struck the floor ringing like struck glass while Ferra dove for it before the echo faded.
"Mine," Ferra said, snatching the shard out of the air, "the forge claims it."
"Make it remember a swing, Spark, only one," Hajin begged, "and not this one."
"You do not know what it is," Didi said, folding her arms.
"I know it's silver, it sings, nobody else here can hammer it."
She held the shard up to the light, turning it slowly between her blackened fingers, squinting. Inside it a tiny silver Hajin headbutted a tiny silver double over and over, endlessly, forever.
"That's a Mirror Heart," Aria said from his shoulder, "it keeps exactly one reflection of one moment."
"Of course it's that moment," Hajin moaned, covering his face, "out of every moment I've ever had."
