Four hundred tons of oak and iron came down toward the front rows, the whole Colosseum screaming at once. Loccy saw the children's faces turn white, tiny mouths opening, hands lifting as if hands could stop a tower.
Hajin's Rampart links shrieked and snapped one by one, throwing him backward across the sand.
"Loccy!" he screamed from the dirt.
She was already running, Biscuit swinging from her fist, long before he finished saying her name.
'Not the children, nothing is falling on the children today.'
The arena floor blurred beneath her, sand spraying from her feet as she dove under the leaning wall. Shadow swallowed her whole as the timber came down, close enough that she could smell the fresh sawdust.
"Burdenfall," she whispered, driving Biscuit into the earth with both hands, "Bedrock."

Golden roots burst from the hammer's head, spreading through the ground like a second set of feet.
