Hajin dangled from the tile's edge by four fingers, the sand a long way below his feet. Above him Cassian plunged through his gale, fans raised, grinning like a man taking a curtain call.
"The Baron hangs by a thread, the Silk Storm descends, oh, the humanity!" Quillon wailed, clutching his chest with both hands.
Loccy bounced on her seat, "Master, use your other hand!"
"I'm thinking about it, Bun!"
In the stands Juna shot up from the bench, both fists clenched, her ears pinned flat against her head. "Idiot, do something clever!"
Cassian twirled both fans, "Do not struggle, darling, it only ruins the line."
In the royal box Didi's fan slipped from her fingers, falling unnoticed to the floor as she stared. Beside her Ruvan watched the falling boy with polite, almost friendly interest, ink-stained fingers steepled beneath his chin.
"Goodbye is a little blunt, how about hello instead?" Hajin shouted up, dangling from one hand without a care.
