Corven slid from his saddle with unhurried grace, a crystal bank glowing across his back like a second spine. Rows of gems the size of thumbs hung in leather cradles, each throbbing a different color against his armor.
Hajin stepped forward until the trampled snow between them was bare, Juna and Loccy falling in at his shoulders.
"I won't enjoy this, which is a pity for you," Corven said, drawing Mournwick with a slow, elegant hiss.
"You went for a baby," Hajin said, the words flat as a drawn blade.
"I went for the seal on a baby, there's a difference, it's a small one."
"Not to me."
The Chain slid off Hajin's wrist link by link, the nearest crystal teeth humming in warning.
"I'll take his left side, Idiot, you take the smug face," Juna murmured, daggers flicking into her palms.
"Master, may I hit him yet?" Loccy asked, rolling her hammer across her shoulder.
