Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Something Like a Dog

In the Heaven Dou Empire, Fasno Province, at the Notting Junior Soul Master Academy,

it was lunchtime. A large group of students rushed out of the teaching building, chatting and laughing as they headed towards the cafeteria.

Although Notting Junior Academy was only a small junior soul master academy, its social hierarchy was very strict.

Those dressed in splendid clothes, swaggering and arrogant, were the descendants of nobles.

They were the first class in the entire academy, most of them possessing great strength; some were only teenagers, yet already powerful one-ring soul masters.

These noble children, imitating the adults, stood with their hands behind their backs, speaking politely and discussing national affairs with great interest.

Following beside these noble children, the students with fawning smiles were mostly wealthy children from commoner families.

Although lacking noble status, he possessed considerable wealth, barely managing to climb into the second tier of the academy, often dining on the second floor of the cafeteria with the aristocratic children.

The lowest of the low in the academy were the work-study students.

These students mostly wore the academy's uniform, as they had no other decent clothes.

Even walking, they would twist their fingers and lower their heads, not daring to look at the air of nobility emanating from the "aristocratic gentlemen."

However, when these students passed through the cafeteria hall and saw the figure eating at a corner table, regardless of their class, they would all show expressions of disgust.

It was a middle-aged man with a stiff face, a buzz cut, slightly sunken cheeks, wearing black clothes, disheveled, and most importantly, he always wore a sour expression, his eyes filled with arrogance, as if he were the most powerful person in the world.

While arrogantly looking at the students, he picked up a chicken leg and an egg from the table and ate them in large mouthfuls, looking as if he hadn't eaten for two days.

This person was none other than Master Yu Xiaogang.

Whether noble or commoner, even the academy's teachers would stop and point at Yu Xiaogang.

About two years ago, Justin, the dean of Notting Junior Academy, brought Yu Xiaogang to the academy.

Initially, the entire faculty and student body welcomed Xiaogang's arrival warmly.

After all, the dean had said that Yu Xiaogang came from Wuhun City—what kind of place was Wuhun City?

It was a sacred place in the hearts of all soul masters on the entire Douluo Continent.

It was said that those who came from Wuhun City were at least powerful soul masters.

Many students thought that this master, who had traveled thousands of miles from Wuhun City, must be a renowned figure, and that if he could give them some guidance, they would surely rise to prominence.

However, to the utter surprise of the entire school, this so-called master turned out to be a freeloader!

From the moment he arrived at the school two years ago until today, this so-called master, Yu Xiaogang, hadn't taught a single class.

Worst of all, he always wore a sour face, like a zombie, especially the way he looked at the work-study students—it wasn't even like he was looking at people!

Faced with Yu Xiaogang's behavior, Dean Justin was completely dumbfounded. "

No way! I brought you all the way from Wuhun City to here, even arranging accommodation and meals for you, and this is how you repay me?!

Not only do you eat and drink for free every day, but you also look down on your own students!"

He recalled that at the beginning of the semester, a student enthusiastically ran to Yu Xiaogang to ask him a question, and Yu Xiaogang actually pointed at the student and started cursing, calling him a piece of trash and saying he didn't deserve to ask him questions.

Dean Justin was speechless. "Dude, who's the real trash here"?

You really don't know?

Someone with half-level innate soul power calling others trash?

Has the world gone mad?

Not only is the world going mad, but the students in the academy are also going mad because of this so-called master.

Every day when they see the master in the cafeteria, they stop and stare, then gather in groups of three or five to point and whisper about him.

Hearing the curses from the students around him, Yu Xiaogang clenched his fists, his face turning ashen, and cursed in his heart:

"A bunch of lowly commoners, you dare to speak ill of me?

You lowly things will never be able to enter Wuhun City in your entire lives!"

However, when he thought of Wuhun City, Yu Xiaogang couldn't help but shudder.

It was a fear that came from the bottom of his heart, and the source of that fear was someone in Wuhun City—Pope Qian Xunji!

Thinking of the days when he was suppressed by Qian Xunji, Yu Xiaogang began to tremble from the bone, and then he began to curse in his heart again, saying things like Qian Xunji's sons were born without an anus and he could never eat four dishes in his entire life.

Back then, when he was researching (or rather, studying) in the Spirit Hall library, he should have had a bright future ahead of him.

But Qian Xunji, without a word, had him tied up.

Worst of all, he dared to tie him to a horse and drag him all the way to the Pope's Palace.

That was a day Yu Xiaogang would never forget.

His limbs were bound with ropes and he was tethered to a horse, dragged into the Pope's Palace by a wild steed.

Even worse, Qian Xunji dared to slap him across the face in front of so many Spirit Hall members and call him a piece of trash!

And Bibi Dong! As Pope Qian Xunji's disciple, she actually let him do as he pleased.

What was that bitch Bibi Dong doing all that time? She didn't even come out to comfort him.

Yu Xiaogang cursed Bibi Dong again in his mind, then continued eating his steamed bun.

After finishing the buns on his plate, he went to the kitchen with his hands behind his back and asked for two more.

Ignoring the chef's disdainful gaze, Yu Xiaogang devoured his steamed bun, giving the chef a final glare before leaving, inwardly cursing:

"A lowly chef dares to look down on me? People like him will never become Soul Masters."

However, just as Yu Xiaogang carried his plate out of the kitchen, he overheard Xiao Teng, the young brat from the Xiao family, chatting with his classmates.

 "Hey, did you hear?

His Holiness the Pope is dead! I'm telling you this, but don't tell anyone else. According to my father, Spirit City is in mourning."

 "Wow, really?

I heard His Holiness the Pope was a legendary Title Douluo, capable of toppling city walls with a single slap.

Who could kill him?"

"I heard it was Tang Hao of the Clear Sky Sect."

"Wow, the Clear Sky Sect killed the Pope of the Spirit Hall! Things are about to change..."

The two nobles chatted as they walked, while Yu Xiaogang froze on the spot.

The plate in his hand slipped from his grasp, crashing to the ground and shattering into pieces.

The steamed bun in his hand rolled all over the floor.

Ignoring his bun, Yu Xiaogang lunged at the two students like a zombie, grabbing Xiao Teng's shoulder, his eyes blazing with rage:

"What the hell did you say?

Say it again, who the hell is dead?"
