Milady screeched to a halt beside her, kicking up a cloud of churning sand and dust. Before Maiya could react, Milady gave her a shove on the shoulder and roared, "Run!"
"W-what—"
Maiya was dumbfounded. She had only just begun to speak when she heard footsteps rushing straight for her. She looked up and instantly understood everything.
Even though Milady hadn't communicated with her at all, she knew Maiya would run with the badge.
Maiya was quick-witted. She knew perfectly well that Milady was using her as a temporary diversion, but this was, after all, the first badge she had obtained. Most importantly, having this one badge was as good as already having two.
