Chapter 49: Klee's Blessing
"Good morning, Acting Grand Master Jean," Lumine greeted, stepping into the sunlit office.
"Traveler and Paimon, welcome back. Is there anything you need?" Jean looked up from the towering stacks of paperwork on her oak desk, the exhaustion in her eyes melting into a gentle, welcoming smile.
"We want to see Klee!" Paimon interjected eagerly, doing a little loop in the air.
At the mention of the little red knight, a distinct hint of helplessness washed over Jean's face. She set her quill down with a soft sigh. "Klee... well, because she tried out her 'improved' Dodoco bombs at Starfell Lake yesterday, she is currently in solitary confinement reflecting on her actions."
Lumine and Paimon exchanged a knowing glance. They weren't surprised in the slightest.
"Acting Grand Master Jean, we'd still like to see her," Lumine explained, stepping closer to the desk. "We brought her some small gifts, and also... um, we wanted to ask her for a tiny favor."
"She's been locked up for a whole day now," Paimon chimed in, crossing her tiny arms. "It's not good to keep a kid cooped up for too long!"
Jean offered a weary but fond smile. "Actually, even if you hadn't come, I was planning to have Kaeya find an excuse to take her out for some fresh air later. You're right; children really shouldn't be confined for too long." She gestured toward the door. "You two go ahead and pick up Klee. I still have a mountain of Knights of Favonius duties to handle, so I won't be joining you."
Lumine looked at the endless stacks of reports and requisition forms. Although she knew the Acting Grand Master was incredibly responsible, she couldn't help but lean over the desk and offer a gentle reminder. "Jean, don't push yourself too hard. The Knights of Favonius has so many reliable companions; you don't have to carry the entire world on your shoulders. Remember to rest!"
Jean knew her friend was genuinely worried about her health. She didn't offer any stubborn deflections, simply smiling warmly and nodding to show she understood.
Down the hall, the heavy wooden door of the confinement room groaned open with a long, drawn-out creak.
Inside the dimly lit room, a tiny red figure was facing away from the door. She was sprawled on the floor, her little hands moving at lightning speed as she desperately tried to stuff something highly suspicious into her iconic red backpack.
Hearing the door open, Klee spun around like a startled rabbit. Her small face was smudged with black soot, and a fine layer of nervous sweat dotted her forehead.
"Acting Grand Master Jean! Acting Grand Master Jean!" Klee squeaked, her voice pitching up in sheer panic. "Klee is a good girl! Klee absolutely wasn't researching new super—uh, I mean, regular Dodoco bombs! Klee was... was tidying up the confinement room! Yes! Just tidying!"
She stood at attention, puffing out her chest and speaking loudly in a desperate attempt to appear perfectly well-behaved.
However, her anxious, darting glances toward the corner of the room, her slightly disheveled hair from her frantic scrambling, and her heavy panting practically painted a giant sign on her forehead that read: Guilty as charged.
Lumine and Paimon stared at the little sun of Mondstadt, watching her try so incredibly hard to lie through her teeth, and completely failed to hold back their laughter.
Paimon immediately flew forward, her voice light and teasing. "Hello, Little Klee! It's just us!"
Klee blinked, finally registering who was standing in the doorway. The sheer terror on her tense little face instantly melted into a brilliant, beaming smile. She jumped up, her heavy backpack bouncing against her shoulders. "Wow! This is great! It's Honorary Knight Lumine and Little Paimon!"
She rushed over, skidding to a halt right in front of them. Tilting her small face up, her large ruby-red eyes sparkled with pure hope. "Are you here to take Klee out to play? Klee promises to be very, very well-behaved this time!"
Paimon waved her hands, giggling. "Yes and no, Little Klee. We are here to bust you out, but we can't go bomb... uh, go play with you today. We're actually here to ask you for a small favor! But before that..."
Paimon spun around, whipping her hands from behind her back as if performing a magic trick.
"We brought you a gift! Ta-da! Look, it's a Bunny doll! It's for our little sun, Klee. We hope it can become best friends with your Dodoco!"
"Wow—!" Klee's eyes instantly turned into massive, sparkling stars. She reached out with both hands, carefully taking the fluffy, long-eared Bunny doll and hugging it against her cheek with absolute adoration. "So cute!"
"Thank you, Little Paimon! Thank you, Honorary Knight Lumine!" Klee cheered, bouncing on her heels. "Bunny and Dodoco will definitely be the bestest of friends! Just tell Klee what favor you need help with! Klee will... will what help was it again?"
She tilted her small head, her eyebrows scrunching together as she tried incredibly hard to recall a fancy phrase Kaeya had taught her recently.
"It's 'give full support'!" Paimon corrected with a bright smile.
"Yes, yes, yes! Give full support!" Klee nodded so vigorously her pigtails whipped through the air. Her small, soot-stained face was a mask of absolute seriousness. Even if she didn't fully grasp the exact weight of the phrase, it didn't stop her from using it to declare her unwavering loyalty. "Klee will definitely give full support!"
Lumine squatted down, bringing herself to eye level with the little knight. She offered a warm smile. "The favor we want to ask Little Klee for is actually very simple. We just want to pat Klee's head, and have Klee bless us so we have super good luck today. Is that okay?"
"Of course you can!" Klee agreed without a second of hesitation. She felt both fascinated and thrilled by this highly important 'mission'.
"Klee is going to give full support!" She leaned forward, actively offering her small head to Lumine and Paimon.
Lumine reached out, gently ruffling Klee's fluffy, soft golden hair. Paimon floated closer, extending her tiny hands to pat the girl's head as well.
A warm, vibrant energy seemed to genuinely transmit through their fingertips. It was a feeling of pure, unadulterated innocence that instantly brightened their moods, washing away the lingering fatigue of their travels.
"Then, in the name of the Anemo Archon, I wish Honorary Knight Lumine and Little Paimon..."
Klee squeezed her eyes shut and clasped her small hands together in front of her chest. Her face was a picture of absolute piety as she delivered her blessing in a vibrant, ringing voice. "Today will be a super-duper invincible lucky day! This is Spark Knight Klee's lucky blessing, launch! Biu~!"
With that cheerful 'biu~', it felt as though a genuinely warm, golden light had washed over Lumine and Paimon.
The two travelers exchanged a smile. In that moment, looking at the beaming child in front of them, they both shared the exact same thought: 'This life is totally worth it.'
"Thank you for your blessing, Little Klee!" they chimed in unison.
Having successfully secured the ultimate blessing from the 'Strongest Lucky Star of Mondstadt', Lumine and Paimon led the overjoyed Klee—who was still tightly hugging her new Bunny doll—out of the dreary confinement room.
Just as they pushed open the heavy front doors of the Knights of Favonius Headquarters and stepped out into the sunlight, they nearly bumped into a familiar figure. Kaeya was strolling up the steps, humming a lively tavern tune, taking his sweet time getting to work.
"Yo~ look who it is? Has our little sun finally been released?" Kaeya greeted with a smooth, lazy smile. His single visible eye swept over the fluffy new toy in Klee's arms, a knowing glint flashing in his gaze.
"Kaeya~!" Klee happily called out, waving her free hand.
Lumine smiled at the Cavalry Captain. "Acting Grand Master Jean asked us to bring Klee out. She mentioned you were going to take her out for some activities today. Thank you for your trouble."
"No trouble at all. Taking care of our little sun is always a pleasant task." Kaeya's gaze lingered on the Bunny doll, his smirk deepening just a fraction. "It seems a trip to the confinement room yielded quite the harvest today, didn't it?"
"It's a gift from Honorary Knight Lumine and Little Paimon!" Klee held the Bunny up high, presenting it to him as if it were a legendary treasure.
"Then you make sure to thank them properly," Kaeya chuckled, shifting his gaze to Lumine and Paimon.
Paimon immediately flew forward, pulling out a bulging bag of snacks and small mechanical toys from her pocket dimension, presenting them with a flourish. "Here, Klee, these are for you too! Have fun playing with Bunny and Dodoco!"
"Wow! Thank you, Little Paimon! Thank you, Honorary Knight Lumine!" Klee freed one hand, trying her absolute hardest to hug the Bunny doll and the massive snack bag at the same time. Her bright red eyes curved into happy, shining crescent moons.
After bidding a fond farewell to Klee and Kaeya, Lumine and Paimon didn't waste another second. The world dissolved into a rush of starlight as they used the nearest Teleport Waypoint, instantly returning to their temporary residence in the distant, sweltering region of Natlan.
The dry, crackling heat of the Pyro nation washed over them, but they barely noticed. They quickly adjusted their breathing, sat cross-legged on the floor, and immersed their minds directly into the chat group interface.
A grand feast concerning 'luck'was about to begin, and they had just been armed with Teyvat's most powerful, undisputed'Luck Buff'!
At this exact moment, the chat group was suffocating under a heavy, thick atmosphere. It was a volatile cocktail of anticipation, raw nervousness, and a silent standoff to see exactly who would be the first to take the plunge.
The points were already loaded into their accounts. The virtual gacha button gleamed on the screen, practically begging to be pressed. Yet, no one had dared to make the first move.
[Genshin - Lumine]: "Everyone... are you ready?"
Lumine stared at the glowing holographic interface in her mind. Her virtual finger hovered just millimeters above the ten-pull button, her heart pounding against her ribs in a familiar, terrifying rhythm.
