I Have An Infinite Cultivation Resource

Chapter 52: The Gift

Meanwhile, news that several Foundation Establishment cultivators had been blown to death in the Deep Literary Pavilion spread throughout the Verdant Cloud Sect.

Myriad Sword Mountain

After finishing her cultivation, Zeng Yan also heard the news. However, while others were focused on how Hu Ke—a mere Qi Refining cultivator—had managed to kill so many Foundation Establishment cultivators with an explosion, Zeng Yan paid attention to something else: Lu You, who had been extorted by Hu Ke.

"Junior Brother Lu You accidentally ended up in Deep Literary Pavilion?"

Zeng Yan's lips curled slightly, and her mood improved a little.

"The disciples of Deep Literary Pavilion aren't good at fighting. If Junior Brother practices the sword techniques I taught him properly, it won't be long before no outer sect disciple can bully him."

Just as Zeng Yan was lost in her thoughts, two female Foundation Establishment sword cultivators carrying swords on their backs walked over.

"Junior Sister Zeng, these are this month's Qi-Nourishing Pills. Your share is all here."

After speaking, the leading female sword cultivator tossed Zeng Yan a white porcelain bottle.

Zeng Yan caught it and sensed the weight of the bottle. Her expression suddenly turned cold.

"Senior Sister Huang, Senior Sister Wang, my share should be ten pills per month. Why is there only one here?"

"You just joined the inner sect and you're only at Qi Refining. Even if you absorb more, you'll still just be at Qi Refining. Why waste so many Qi-Nourishing Pills?"

The sword cultivator surnamed Huang looked impatient.

"I'll just count the rest as borrowed from you. When you reach Foundation Establishment, I'll return them."

Zeng Yan's brows shot up.

"Senior Sister Huang, even if you want to borrow them, you should get my permission first. What you're doing now is robbery."

The female cultivator surnamed Wang beside her suddenly chimed in.

"Junior Sister Zeng, we're all fellow disciples. Why split things so finely? Senior Sister Huang just didn't worry about the order too much. Now that she's telling you, doesn't that count as borrowing? Let's each take a step back. Let Senior Sister Huang use the pills first. You can consider that the two of us have acknowledged you as our junior sister."

"Not lending."

Zeng Yan stared coldly at Senior Sister Wang, the disgust in her eyes completely undisguised.

Senior Sister Huang suddenly flared up.

"I'm taking them by force. What are you going to do about it?"

Zeng Yan's hand gripped the hilt of her sword.

"Then you'll have to ask my sword."

"Zeng Yan, Myriad Sword Mountain is full of sword cultivators—we're not allowed to fight privately."

Senior Sister Wang hurriedly stepped in when she saw the two about to fight.

Sword cultivators were different from other cultivators. Every one of them carried killing intent and lethal techniques. Once they fought, it would often end in death or severe injury. Therefore, the sect prohibited private duels among sword cultivators. If there were grievances, they had to apply to use the sect's arena, where a Golden Core elder would act as referee and ensure the duel took place without risking lives.

"In that case, Senior Sister Huang, please instruct me on the arena in three days."

Zeng Yan did not continue asking for the Qi-Nourishing Pills and instead directly proposed a duel.

"Hahaha! Junior Sister Wang, did you hear that? A Qi Refining cultivator wants to challenge a Foundation Establishment cultivator!"

Senior Sister Huang burst into laughter.

"Fine, Junior Sister Zeng. If I lose, I'll walk around you whenever I see you in the future."

After saying that, Senior Sister Huang swaggered away. Senior Sister Wang also sneered at Zeng Yan, pointing at her with her finger and silently mouthing:

You're dead.

Watching the two walk away, Zeng Yan sighed.

She had never expected that just moments ago she was worrying about her junior brother being bullied—only for the same thing to happen to her.

Zeng Yan squeezed the bottle of Qi-Nourishing Pills in her hand. She did not take one. Instead, she first went to find an elder to apply for the duel three days later. Afterward, she wrote a letter and went to find the chubby cultivator Zhou Lei.

"Thank you, Senior Brother, for recommending Lu You to the outer sect."

Zeng Yan handed Zhou Lei both the white porcelain bottle containing the Qi-Nourishing Pills and the letter.

"Senior Brother, in the next few days I'll be preparing for my duel with Senior Sister Huang. Please help me deliver these two items to Junior Brother Lu."

Zhou Lei chuckled.

"It's just a small matter. You asked me last time—of course I'll help if I can."

In reality, Deep Literary Pavilion had simply been short of manpower, but Zhou Lei shamelessly took the credit as if it were his doing. Looking at the letter and pills in his hand, he tucked them into his robe.

"When I go to the outer sect sometime, I'll personally deliver them to Junior Brother Lu."

"Then I'll trouble you, Senior Brother."

Zeng Yan took out five spirit stones.

"A small token of thanks. Please accept it."

Zhou Lei quickly took the spirit stones and put them away.

"We're fellow disciples—you're being too polite. Forget 'sometime.' I'll make a trip today and personally deliver your things to Lu You."

After thanking him, Zeng Yan took her leave. By now, news that she had applied for a duel had spread among the disciples. Along the way, people pointed and whispered about her.

But Zeng Yan didn't care.

She simply returned silently to her room.

That night, Zeng Yan secretly slipped out again. She took out the talismans that Lu You had given her and activated a Divine Speed Talisman. With a few swift flashes, she vanished into the darkness.

She made her way all the way to Senior Sister Huang's residence. Zeng Yan activated a Divine Eye Talisman and began observing from afar.

Inside the room, Senior Sister Huang and Senior Sister Wang were both there, chatting and laughing about something, clearly not taking the duel scheduled three days later seriously at all.

Seeing this, Zeng Yan released all of her Rain-Calling Talismans and Wind Talismans at once. In an instant, fierce wind and heavy rain burst forth, blowing open Senior Sister Huang's window.

"What kind of weather is this? Why did it suddenly start raining?" Senior Sister Huang muttered as she walked to the window and grabbed the frame. Just as she was about to close it, a flash of silver light appeared.

Zeng Yan suddenly sprang up from beneath the window and slashed her sword across Senior Sister Huang's throat.

Inside the room, Senior Sister Wang saw Huang standing motionless at the window and jokingly asked,

"What, did you see one of your pretty boys out there in the storm? So charming that you can't move?"

Because of the roaring wind and rain, she hadn't heard the sound of the sword.

When Huang didn't respond, Senior Sister Wang stood up and walked over, reaching out to pat Huang's shoulder.

"What are you staring at? Let me see too."

The next second, a bolt of electricity arced from Huang's body into Wang's hand.

Thunder Technique Talisman.

Earlier, Lu You had given Zeng Yan ten Thunder Technique Talismans. Now only one remained. It wasn't enough to kill a Foundation Establishment cultivator, but the electric shock could paralyze an unprepared one for a second.

One second was enough.

Zeng Yan thrust her sword forward. The extremely sharp treasured artifact pierced straight through Huang's corpse and continued into Wang's heart.

"Zeng Yan… why… didn't we agree on a duel…"

Senior Sister Wang's eyes were filled with unwillingness as her body slowly collapsed.

Zeng Yan said nothing. Supporting the bodies, she jumped into the room, cut off both of their heads, and only after confirming they were completely dead did she ignite a Flame Talisman to start a fire.

"Even if I won the duel, I'd only be getting back my own pills. With a Golden Core elder as referee, what loss would there be for you?"

Zeng Yan snorted.

"If it were a fair duel, even if I won, I'd gain nothing. But if I lost, I'd face endless trouble."

"Evil does not disappear just because it duels with justice. Only when the source of the evil dies does the evil truly disappear."

"Thanks to Junior Brother's talismans… looks like I owe him another favor."

The rain and strong winds concealed Zeng Yan's tracks. Using the Divine Speed Talisman, she returned to her room before the bodies were discovered.

She disguised herself as someone desperately practicing swordsmanship in preparation for the duel. The sharp sounds of her sword practice echoed clearly enough for all the neighbors to hear, becoming her perfect alibi.
