Chapter 74 - CHAPTER 73: THE DAY THEY SAID “FOREVER” (FULL WEDDING CHAPTER)

💍

The morning felt too calm. Not nervous. Not chaotic. Just… soft. Like the world itself knew something important was about to happen and decided not to interrupt it.

Sofia stood in front of the mirror for a long time. Not fixing anything. Not doubting anything. Just breathing.

The dress wasn't loud. Not dramatic. It didn't try to impress anyone. It just… fit her. Like it had been waiting for her all along.

Behind her, her closest friend adjusted the veil gently. "You okay?" she asked softly.

Sofia smiled. Not the smile of uncertainty. But of arrival. "Yes," she said. A pause. Then softer— "I think I've been okay since the day I chose him again."

Across the venue— Kenzo stood alone for a moment. Fixing his tie for the third time. Not because it was wrong. But because his hands didn't know what to do with how full his heart felt.

"You look like you're about to pass out," his friend teased.

Kenzo let out a breathy laugh. "I feel like I already did… and I'm just catching up."

Then he looked toward the aisle. And everything went quiet inside him. Because there she was.

Sofia.

Walking toward him. And it didn't feel like the first time they met. It didn't feel like the breakup. It didn't even feel like the reunion. It felt like every version of her life had been leading back to this one moment.

Kenzo's breath caught. Not from surprise. But from recognition. That's her, his heart said.

Not the girl from the past. Not the distance. Not the uncertainty. The one he chose. The one who chose him back.

Sofia reached him slowly. And for a moment, they just looked at each other. Not speaking. Not rushing. Just remembering everything they had survived to stand here.

The officiant began speaking. But it sounded distant. Like background noise to something far more important.

When it was time for vows— Kenzo went first. He took a slow breath. And looked at her like she was the only steady thing in a world that once broke him.

"I used to think love was about never falling apart," he began. His voice steady, but emotional. "But you taught me it's about what happens after you do."

Sofia's eyes softened instantly.

Kenzo continued— "I lost you once… not because love wasn't real, but because I didn't know how to hold something so important while still becoming myself."

A pause. His voice dropped slightly.

"But I learned." He stepped closer. Just slightly. "I learned how to come back without needing to erase what happened." "I learned how to love you in every version of your life—even the ones that didn't include me."

Sofia's breath trembled softly. Kenzo smiled faintly through emotion.

"And I learned that some people don't leave your life…" "They just leave and come back as home."

A pause. Then softly— "Sofia… I choose you."

Not because it's easy. Not because we didn't break. But because every version of me still finds its way back to you.

Silence followed. Not empty. Full.

Then it was Sofia's turn. She exhaled softly. And for a moment, she didn't look at the audience.

Only at him. "I used to think love was supposed to feel certain all the time," she began. A soft, almost emotional smile. "But loving you taught me that certainty isn't what makes love real."

She stepped closer. "What makes it real… is choosing it even when it scares you."

Kenzo's eyes softened. Sofia continued— "I wasn't always sure of us." A pause. "But I was always sure of how deeply you changed me."

Her voice steadied. "And even when we broke apart… I never stopped becoming someone who would eventually find her way back to you."

A breath. "So today, I'm not just choosing you," she said softly. "I'm choosing every version of us that survived everything we didn't know how to handle."

Her eyes glistened. "But most of all… I'm choosing the love that still stayed even when we didn't know how to."

A pause. Then the final truth— "I choose you, Kenzo… not as a memory, but as my present, my future, and my home."

Silence fell. Even the air felt still. Then the rings were exchanged. Slow. Careful. Meaningful.

"Do you take each other?" the officiant asked.

Kenzo didn't hesitate. "I do."

Sofia smiled through tears. "I do."

And then— the world finally let them breathe again.

"You may kiss the bride," the officiant said.

Kenzo looked at her one last time. Not like a question. But like a promise already fulfilled. And when he kissed her— it wasn't rushed. Not uncertain. Not fragile. It was steady. Deep. Familiar in a way that felt like coming home after a long, long journey.

The applause faded into the background. But neither of them noticed.

Because in that moment— nothing else existed.

Only them.

And everything they had become.
