"That's a big step," Kenzo said quietly.
Sofia nodded. "It is." A pause. "I don't know what to do."

Kenzo leaned forward slightly. "What do you want?" he asked.
Sofia hesitated. Then answered truthfully. "I want to go."

Kenzo closed his eyes briefly. And nodded. "Then you should."
Sofia looked at him. "You're not even going to hesitate?"
He gave a small, sad smile. "I did that already… when it was my turn." A pause. "And you didn't stop me."
That— came full circle. Sofia's chest tightened. "I don't want us to fall apart because of this."
Kenzo's voice softened. "Then don't think of it like that." A pause. "Think of it like we're both choosing our lives… and seeing if we still choose each other along the way."
Sofia swallowed. Because that— was both comforting… and terrifying. "I'm scared," she admitted.
Kenzo nodded. "Me too." A quiet moment passed. "But I'd be more scared if we stopped growing just to hold on to something uncertain," he added.
That truth— was hard to accept. But it was real.
Sofia exhaled slowly. "I think I'm going to take it."
Kenzo smiled faintly. "I think you should." A pause. Then softer— "I'm proud of you."
Sofia smiled. But her eyes softened. "Thank you."
Silence followed. Because now— it wasn't just distance. It was two people— moving forward in different directions. Still connected. But not guaranteed.
