The next morning, Kiran woke up in a very good mood as a result of a good night's sleep, and almost immediately he began calling out for his father but to no response.
Walking out of his room, he heade to the dinning room, the kitchen and finally to his parents room but no one was there. Kiran began to worry and at the same time panicking. . . . . that was when he heard the door opening and a look of hope ignited on his face as he ran to the direction of the door.
He watched as his mother waltsed into the house. She tried maintaining a cool calm composure but by the looks of it she could literally just break down at any moment.
Kiran kept his eyes fixated on the door clearly expecting someone to walk in at any moment but nothing as such happened, so slowly he walked up to his mother, looked her in eye with genuine intentions.
" Mom where is father, he is coming back right?" Asked Kiran in a soft tone expecting something from his mother.
She looked down to his direction clearly trying to find the best way possible for delivering the answer.
" Kiran. . . . . As you know your father is a busy person and. . . . . his work does not permit him to take a vacation or leisure periods too frequently. . . . so, l hope you understand that we are not going to see him for a very long time, that's why l ask you to expect the worst from this situation but remember that one day your father will surely return to us. . . ." Kirans mother said in a cracking voice clearly showing signs of suppressed emotions.
Kiran just stood there trying to digest and accept the reality at hand but the mental trauma of separation was clearly eating him from within.
Tears streamed down along his cheeks uncontrollably.
" Wha-t do yo-u mean. . . . By we won't see him for a very long time. . . . Are you saying father abandoned us, are we really not important to him?" Asked Kiran as he constantly shed tears.
" Not at all Kiran, your father loves the both of more than anything in this world. He would never forsake us. . . "
" Then why. . . . Why would he go, if he love us then why would he go. . . . Can't he just quit his job and let us live normally as a family. Other kids get to live with both their parents so why can't l. . . . " Kiran said as he broke down in disapproval to his father's choice.
" Kira. . ." Before she could even call out his name, Kiran stormed off to his room unheard from.
Kiran opened the door to his room and slammed it shut then sitting on the other side elbows on knees as his emotions got the better of him, tears streaming down his cheeks but no sound no sound could be heard, it was a silent cry.
The day went by and in a blink of an eye it was already evening but not once did Kiran walk out of his room neither did he come to drink water nor to eat.
" Knock. "
" Knock. "
" Kiran, could you come out just once. I know you are hurting but at least don't toture your body to this extent, please come out. " Kirans mother said as she stood at the door between her and Kiran.
After moments of no response she simply walked away turning her back to the door with a heavy heart.
Kiran just sat there at the other end of the door without any motion as though he was in deep thought. Suddenly, he driffted of into the world of imagination. . . .
Suddenly it hit him like a Monday morning. . . he opened his eyes in an instant and looked around in confusion but soon the confusion was replaced with realisation, and the feelings all flooded his mind
He quietly opened the door and made his way to the dinning table and noticed his mother in the kitchen, who seemed to be staring into the abyss as though she discovered a world of her own but the sound of footsteps snapped her out of the trans she was in.
Looking back a pale faced Kiran stood there with zero interest to anything around him
She tried too engage into a conversation with him but Kiran shifted his eyes to her side as though indicating for her to look as well.
As though understanding the sign given to her she turned her head and took sight of the pot that was screaming for attention.
Moments passed by and dinner was served at the table. Both mother and son sat at the dinner in utter silence
Kiran wanted to mind his own business but he saw his mother constantly sprinkling salt in her food, at this rate she would literally be just eating salt dipped in soup.
"Mom!"
Upon bieng startled like that she stopped pouring salt but she too noticed it was already to late.
" Clumsy mommy right. I should probably put this away. . . . . . . plus l was not hungry anyway." She said as she stood up and went to place her plate at the sink. After doing so she noticed that her eyes were teary and decided to wipe them.
Kiran couldn't help but feel that he was the reason his mother was currently depressed
So he walked up to her and hugged his mother like he was about to lose her.
" I am sorry Mom. I promise that l will never talk about dad again, so let's just live our lives normally and l promise, l will always behave myself. So please don't stress yourself. "
All Kirans mother could do at this point was hug her son and try to be strong for his sake cause he was now acting out of his maturity range.
They decided to end matters there and call it a night. After putting Kiran to sleep she too headed off to get some shut eye
*********
Dawn soon arrived giving birth to a bright golden yellow glow that engulfed the sky, it truly is a sight too behold.
Kiran woke up energetic as a bull and headed straight for breakfast. Without wasting time he quickly sprinted for the door as though he heard his calling.
Kiran always enjoyed going out to the big tree that was a few meters outside the village though his mother tried forbidding him countless times he always sneaked out to go there no matter the cost.
'l will leave before she catches wind of my absence.' Mummered Kiran in his mind as he tried sneaking out without his mother noticing but before he could put his palm on the door knob a figure stood behind him and almost instinctively knowing who it was he turned his head to look back
" Mom please don't try to stop me, l really like training and the other kids hardly like to play with me. " Kiran said in a pityful and heart warming tone.
" I am not against you playing ninjer but l hate that you sneak out and play outside the village can't you do it somewhere safe." Said Kirans mother.
After noticing the sad look on his face she couldn't help but almost give in. It's true that most of the kids in the village clearly didn't like to play with Kiran because they think he is kind of weird because for some reason Kiran seemed to mature more faster than other kids his age like he started walking when most kids would be crawling, he comprehended situations quicker than what he should normally be able to do hence all the kids around him never really understood him so they just listed him as the odd one.
Plus they always tormented him for not having a father, because almost no one in the village knows of Kirans father, who he is what he does or where he is so the kids jumped to the conclusion that Kiran doesn't have a father and the village elders thought that the man who visited them during the weekend was probably a man having an illicit affaire with Kirans mother.
After a moment of silence between the mother and son, Kirans mother let out a long sigh and came closer to Kiran
" I was thinking that since you shouldn't go out the village and you don't have anyone to play with how about you train with me instead." Said Kirans mother as she shrugged her shoulders. "
Kiran was elated by this and hugged his mother.
' l never wanted to do this but l believe it's time to do it plus the situation is such that l need to prepare Kiran for the worst at his young age. Considering our species he should be fine because unlike humans our kind has a body that matures quickly and can adapt to pain, sorry Kiran but this training l am going to put you under is something l will regret more than you will in every aspect.' said Kirans mom in her to thoughts.
" Kiran whatever you will go through might look harsh and feel excruciatingly painful but it's all going to be your training from here onwards so bear with me"
"What kind of training is it going to be mom."
For a moment Kirans mother paused and looked at Kiran in the eye before putting on a smile.
" It's called Nyx training. "
