Chapter 17 - chapter 16: He Moved First

Julius stayed awake the whole time. The ride to the hospital was fast.

But he noticed everything. The lights outside. The driver's tight grip on the wheel. The sound of the engine. The way the car moved too quickly through the streets. And the pain in his hand. It didn't leave him. It stayed there. Sharp and clear. Every second.

The moment the car stopped, people rushed over. Voices filled the air. Footsteps came fast. Someone opened the door. Sir, are you okay? Julius stood up at once his assistant was already waiting. "Sir" He reach out to help him. Julius shook is head.I'm fine.

Blood ran down his hand. A thin line along his wrist. He didn't wipe it.

He could feel it. Warm. Slow. Real. But his face didn't change. Pain was not the problem. The problem was simple. Someone had planned this. Someone had tried to kill him.

People moved closer. Talking. Asking questions. Trying to help. Julius didn't look at them. Move, he said. They stepped back at once. No one blocked his way. No one dared to look at him in the eyes.

Inside the hospital, the lights were too bright. Too white. Julius walked in without slowing down. His assistant followed him.

Sir, you should sit. I said I'm fine. His voice was calm but strong. She stopped talking.

A nurse came quickly. Please, this way. Julius sat down. The nurse took his hand. The cut was not deep. But it was long. Glass had cut across his palm. Hold still, she said. Julius didn't move. She cleaned the blood. The sting came fast. But Julius didn't react. His eyes stayed on his hand. Watching. Thinking.

A doctor stepped in. You're lucky, he said. It's not serious. Julius stayed quiet. No broken bones, the doctor continued. Just a cut. Julius moved his fingers a little. Pain came again. Sharp and clean. He ignored it. "I'm fine," he said.

The doctor looked at him for a moment. Then nodded. You should rest. Julius didn't answer. He had no time for rest.

The nurse wrapped his hand. The cut was covered with a white bandage. Tight. Clean. Done. Julius stood up right away. His assistant was waiting.

Sir. Talk. We're checking the car. Who did it? Not sure yet.Julius walked pass her without stopping. Find out who tried to kill me you have 1 hour. Yes, sir.

They moved through the hallway. People looked at him. But no one stopped him. "No one dear." His presence was enough.

His assistant followed closely.

We've contacted security. Police are involved.

I don't need police. His voice stayed low. Just find the person. Yes, sir.

They stepped outside. The night air felt cooler. Better. Julius stopped for a moment. His hand hurt under the bandage. A steady pulse. He looked at it once. Then looked away. Someone tried to kill him. And they had failed. But the attempt alone was enough.

Call them, he said. His assistant nodded. She stepped aside and made the call. Julius stood still. His eyes moved across the street. Cars passed. People walked. Everything looked normal. But it wasn't. Nothing here was random. It was too clean. Too planned. That made it worse. Whoever did this believed they could get away with it. That was their mistake.

His assistant came back. They're already looking into it. "Good." Julius got into the car. The door closed. He leaned back slowly. Closed his eyes for a second. Then opened them again. Sharp. Focused. "Drive. "

Across the city, Harrison stood by the window. The city lights spread below him. His phone was still in his hand. The call had ended. But he didn't move.

Julius was hurt. Even if it was small. It didn't matter. Someone had touched him. That alone was enough. Harrison lowered his hand slowly. The room behind him stayed quiet. His men stood still. No one spoke. They all felt it. Something had changed. Who did it? Harrison asked. His voice was calm. Too calm.

One of the guard stepped forward. We're checking now. Harrison didn't look at him. That means you're late. Yes, sir.

His phone vibrates . A message came in. A name. Harrison read it. Once.

Then again. "A manager? "he said. A fired one? No one spoke.

He thought he could touch him? Still no answer.

Harrison took a step forward. Slow. Controlled. Do you think it's easy to kill an Alpha? he asked. No one answered. Do you think it's easy to kill the strongest Alpha in this city? "His right hand man lowered his head. No, sir. Harrison gave a faint smile. Cold. Then he's not just stupid. He wants to die.

No one said anything. Harrison spoke again. "Don't kill him." The man looked up. Yes, sir. Break his arms. A pause. Break his legs. Another pause. Blind him. The man swallowed hard. Yes, sir. Harrison turned back to the window. His voice dropped. How dare he. How dare he touch what is mine. And leave a mark.

Keep him alive, Harrison added. "I want him alive. So he remembers." Yes, sir.

Julius's car pulled up in front of his own building. He stepped out. His assistant followed. Sir. What? We found something. Julius stopped. Talk. We found the car. And the driver? He's dead

Julius didn't move. What? They found him not long ago. He was already dead. Julius looked at her. His face stayed calm. But his eyes changed. This was not random. This was planned. His mind moved fast.

One name came. Clear. Harrison.

Julius clenched his jaw. His injured hand closed a little. Pain came again. He didn't mind it. Sir… what do we do? she asked. "Nothing," Julius said. She looked confused. Sir? We don't need to do anything. He already did it.

Julius started walking. His assistant stayed quiet. She understood. Julius stepped inside. The doors closed behind him. His thoughts didn't stop. Because now he knew. Harrison had already moved. Before anyone else. Before the police. Before him. Julius looked down at his bandaged hand. The pain was still there. But now it felt different.

A warning.
