Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Same place. Same scene.

Ren refused.

Twice.

Even All Might couldn't help but feel a trace of regret, but in the end, he could only nod.

"Alright, Ren… since you've made your decision, stick to it."

Pat…

He patted Ren on the shoulder. The strand of hair in his hand crumbled into dust as he turned and sat down at the table, picking up his chopsticks.

"You'll definitely find someone more suitable than me to inherit One For All."

Ren's calm voice made All Might pause for a moment before he nodded.

"…I will."

After that brief exchange, Ren stayed behind temporarily.

All Might left him some money before heading out again—after all, no one was more eager than he was to find a successor.

And at U.A., there were still responsibilities waiting for him as a teacher.

Even a legendary hero had to change to guide the next generation.

Shhh…

Ren pulled open the curtains.

The sunlight outside was just right.

"In that case… time to get moving."

Stretching lazily, he stepped out.

The weather was perfect for putting his plans into action—and he still needed to repurchase all the tools for drawing comics.

After all, even though he had the identity of the mysterious "X," Gran Torino still thought he was just some delinquent kid who stayed out all day and never went home.

No one knew…

He actually created the wildly popular comic Super Seminary on the market.

Gran Torino had once guessed the author must be some eccentric genius.

After all, a comic like that—so unconventional, so dominant—had appeared out of nowhere.

Doing everything alone…

Even in this technologically advanced society, turning it into animation was still far from easy.

Following the locations he had marked, Ren quickly bought everything he needed and headed home.

These tools were the foundation of his rise.

"Quick! Kamui Woods is here!!"

"Ahhh!!"

Excited screams echoed from up ahead.

Ren looked forward—

A figure was leaping between skyscrapers at incredible speed.

His Quirk extended from his body like wooden limbs—exactly as described in reports.

Dark blue suit. Muscular build. Wood-grain patterns running across his body.

It was as if he had completely transcended the limits of a human body.

BOOM!

BOOM!

Loud explosions shook the area.

A massive horse-headed monster was smashing into buildings with both fists, each blow sending debris flying and dust into the air.

Its enormous body resembled a giant beast, overflowing with raw, destructive power.

Buildings crumbled.

Debris rained down.

The crowd erupted into terrified screams.

At that moment, Kamui Woods reached the top of a skyscraper.

But…

Compared to the massive horse-headed monster, he looked like nothing more than an ant.

Without hesitation, the pro hero acted.

Calm. Focused.

He stretched out both arms—

Countless wooden branches exploded outward behind him, layer upon layer, dense and overwhelming.

He was preparing to restrain the rampaging villain.

"Lacquered Chain Prison—! It's Kamui Woods' ultimate move!!"

A woman screamed from the roadside, drawing even more attention.

Ren noticed it too.

The rising popularity of heroes was undeniable.

The wooden branches surged forward like a tidal wave.

In the next moment, they would bind the monster—

But then—

"I am here!!"

A thunderous voice echoed.

Everyone turned—

Two blocks away, a gigantic figure was charging forward.

With a powerful leap, the figure soared into the air and delivered a crushing kick!

A tight suit outlined her figure. Long white hair flowed behind her. A mask covered her eyes, and two purple horns rose from her head.

A newly debuted female hero.

Cameras appeared instantly.

Click! Click! Click!

"It's her! She's here!!"

At the same time—

The kick landed perfectly.

The horse-headed monster was sent flying—

But the angle was off.

The massive body tilted—

—and came crashing down toward Ren.

A huge shadow swallowed the ground beneath him, growing larger by the second.

The bystanders, who had been watching like it was a show, finally realized the danger.

"Watch out!!!"

Kamui Woods' heart tightened. He immediately leapt down, abandoning everything else—

But he wasn't fast enough.

On the other side, Mt. Lady also rushed forward, her expression changing.

"What do we do—?!"

"No!!"

Screams filled the air.

The monster crashed down, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.

Kamui Woods is prepared to extend his branches to rescue them.

Mt. Lady stepped forward—

And then they both saw it.

Through the settling dust—

Ren stood there.

Calm.

Unmoving.

With just one hand—

He had stopped the falling monster.
