Chapter 102 - The Correct Way to Open Secret Scrolls

After resolving the issue of Shizune's identity, Hayate Shiranui continued. "Shizune, you are a medical ninja. Besides combat skills, are you able to use your medical ninjutsu?"

Hayate knew that summoned ninjas retained their memories, but in terms of offense and defense, they seemed limited to the Substitution Jutsu, their three innate skills, and basic physical attacks. The only standout was the "Substitution Jutsu," which the system had modified into a near-divine escape mechanic.

Shizune fell into deep thought. She extended her hands; a glowing Chakra Scalpel flickered into existence for a moment before dissipating.

She then attempted to weave hand seals for the Mystical Palm Technique, but the energy failed to coalesce. Even the Healing Resuscitation Regeneration Technique, Shadow Clone Jutsu, and basic transformation or illusion techniques were unavailable to her.

"I have gained two new techniques," Shizune said, somewhat dejectedly. "Ninjutsu-Taijutsu: Guard and Ninjutsu-Taijutsu: Rage. However, my original medical ninjutsu, like the Mystical Palm Technique, is currently locked."

"My medical capabilities have been severely weakened; I can only maintain the Chakra Scalpel. However," she added quickly, "my knowledge of pharmacology, surgery, and toxicology remains fully intact."

Hayate caught a key detail. "You're saying you can use Guard and Rage directly?"

"Yes," Shizune replied. "With these two techniques added to my skill set, I can create ninjutsu scrolls for them or use them at will."

Hayate was stunned. He had held those secret scrolls for a while but had never felt the need to use them against weak enemies. He had assumed they functioned like in the game—limited one-time uses. He turned to Iruka and the boys. "Is it the same for you?"

"Yes, Lord Hayate," Iruka answered. "We can all utilize those techniques. We simply haven't had a situation dire enough to warrant them."

A confident smile returned to Hayate's face. He comforted Shizune. "Don't worry about the locked jutsu. Your Mystical Palm Technique will likely return very soon."

He remembered that he still had several Secret Scroll Vouchers saved up. The pool of secret scroll skills was vast, including everything from Healing, Shadowing, and Time-Space techniques to S-rank illusions like the Bringer-of-Darkness, sealing arts, and even Wood Style or Ice Style variants.

As long as he unlocked more scrolls, the ninjas under his command would gain access to those universal techniques, evolving into "all-around" warriors.

"I'll leave it to you, then, Lord Hayate," Shizune said, her spirits lifting.

Hayate nodded. "Shizune, as our medical expert, you will oversee all health-related operations. The wax baths we manage and all medical logistics are now your responsibility. If you need supplies or equipment, just inform Hotaru for procurement."

"I'll have a medical lab built for you alongside the recovery room. I also suggest you study modern medicine and equipment; you might find new breakthroughs through cross-referencing."

He assigned her a room upstairs as her living quarters, and Shizune officially took command of the medical wing.

With the medical issues settled, Hayate addressed the day's combat. "Hotaru, report on our casualties and the follow-up."

Hotaru reported immediately. "Of the sixty Adjudicators, twenty were lost in the Chaste's ambush. The remaining forty survived, and the injured are currently in the Continental Hotel's recovery rooms. The toxic gas in the tunnel has been neutralized, and a construction crew is backfilling the excavation. Charlie is handling the transportation of the bodies back to the Continental for cremation."

Hayate nodded. "Ensure the pensions for the fallen are paid at the maximum standard. If they have family, the money goes to them; if not, we will handle the funeral and future memorial services."

Hotaru nodded, her voice wavering slightly with emotion. "I'll handle it properly, Boss."

"One more thing, Boss," she added. "Now that you've obtained what you wanted from Hell's Kitchen, what should we do with that land?"

Hayate thought for a moment. "Our earnings this year are high, and we'll face a massive tax bill. Let's build an Orphanage on that site. Consider it a charitable way to give back to society while offsetting our taxes. Any other funds meant for tax mitigation should go toward helping the elderly and vulnerable children."

The room went quiet. Almost everyone present—Hayate, Iruka, Sasuke, Shizune, Hotaru, and even Lee—had grown up without families. Seeing Hayate choose to help that specific group touched them all deeply.

"Understood, Boss," Hotaru said, her composure softening. "I'll make sure it's done right."

"Finally," Hayate added, "our team is growing. This agency will soon be too small. Find a location for a dedicated base. Also, hire staff for this building—concierges, chefs, the works. Use the Continental's standards. I won't have a high-ranking Adjudicator like Iruka spending his time serving customers."

"We won't abandon this place; it's where we started. But it's time to upgrade."
