Chapter 25 - The Dungeon That Refused to End

Darkness stretched endlessly—yet this time, it wasn't silent. Two massive figures stood within that familiar sealed space. Water beneath. Bars in front. Chakra in the air. Naruto Uzumaki leaned casually against the iron seal, arms folded, eyes calm. Behind him, the enormous presence shifted slightly—chains clinking softly. Kurama exhaled, his glowing eyes narrowing. "…That kid." Naruto didn't look back. "…Yeah." Kurama's tail flicked lazily, though his gaze was sharp. "…Can he even do that?" Naruto smiled faintly. "…Do what?" Kurama huffed. "…The main thing." A pause. "…Conquer it." Silence lingered for a moment. Then Naruto spoke, his voice quiet—but absolute. "…He'll die before he gives up." Kurama's eyes narrowed slightly. Then—he smirked. "…Watch it, Naruto." Naruto raised an eyebrow slightly. "…Hm?" Kurama leaned forward just a bit, voice carrying a low amusement. "…That was your quote." A small chuckle escaped Naruto. "…Yeah. Guess it fits him too." Kurama scoffed lightly. "…You're getting sentimental." Naruto shrugged slightly. "…Maybe." A pause. Then Kurama's tone shifted. Slightly deeper. Slightly realer. "…So what are we here?" Naruto glanced up at the endless darkness beyond the seal. "…What do you mean?" Kurama's chains rattled faintly as he shifted. "…We're not the main story here." A quiet moment passed. Then Naruto smiled. Calm. Certain. "…Yeah." He looked forward again. "…We're not." Kurama's eyes narrowed. "…Then what?" Naruto's answer came simply. "…A push." Silence. Then Kurama let out a low laugh. "…Hmph." Scene shifted. Time moved. Weeks passed. Riven stood in the forest clearing once more. But this time— He wasn't struggling. He wasn't forcing. He wasn't guessing. He moved. Smooth. Controlled. His hand lifted. Chakra gathered instantly. No flicker. No instability. A perfect sphere formed in his palm. Not wild. Not explosive. Just… complete. His breathing remained steady. His eyes calm. "…This…" He tightened his grip slightly. The Rasengan responded—without resistance. "…This is mine now." The air around him shifted slightly. Not violently. But with presence. The training. The pain. The voice in the darkness. All of it had shaped him. Riven exhaled slowly. "…Time to move." Scene shifted again. The Adventurers Guild. Noise. Movement. Missions pinned across the board. Riven stepped in quietly, his presence still low-key, unnoticed. His party was already there. The B-rank group he had joined. His leader turned. "…You're late." Riven shrugged slightly. "…Was training." The leader smirked. "…You? Training?" A few chuckles followed. Riven didn't react. He simply walked toward the board. Then stopped. His eyes locked onto a single parchment. A Rank Mission. The room itself felt quieter around it. High risk. High reward. High death rate. The leader walked up beside him. "…That one?" Riven nodded once. "…Yeah." A pause. Then the leader grinned. "…Alright. Let's take it." No hesitation. No second thoughts. The party agreed. And just like that— The decision was made. Scene shift. Dungeon entrance. Dark. Massive. Silent. The gate towered over them. Riven's eyes narrowed slightly. Something felt… off. "…Stay sharp," the leader said. They entered. The dungeon welcomed them with low-level threats. Goblins rushed in—weak, disorganized. Cut down easily. Spiders dropped from above—fast, but fragile. Burned. Crushed. Destroyed. Creepers crawled through narrow tunnels—but were dealt with quickly. Everything felt… too easy. Riven noticed. But said nothing. They moved deeper. Then— They found it. A second gate. Behind the first. Larger. Darker. Heavier. The air around it felt wrong. "…Double gate?" someone muttered. Confusion spread through the group. "…Never heard of this," the leader said. Riven stepped closer. His instincts screamed. Danger. But the leader… stepped forward. "…Probably just a deeper boss." He pulled out his dagger. "…Let's open it." Riven's eyes narrowed. "…Wait—" Too late. The leader cut his palm and pressed it against the gate. Blood spread. The gate trembled. Then— Opened. Darkness swallowed them. The moment they stepped inside— The door behind them shut. Hard. A deep roar echoed. The boss appeared. Massive. Armored. Towering. But— It wasn't overwhelming. The fight began. Coordinated. Clean. The party worked together. Attacks landed. Damage built. The boss roared—then fell. Silence followed. The leader laughed. "…That's it?" Relief spread through the group. "…Too easy." Riven didn't smile. His eyes were fixed on the corpse. "…No…" The ground trembled. The gate behind them slammed shut tighter. The corpse… moved. Everyone froze. "…What…?" The boss stood up again. Its wounds gone. Its presence heavier. Stronger. A voice echoed through the chamber. Cold. System-like. "Boss Life: 2 Remaining." Silence shattered. Panic replaced it instantly. "…What the hell is this?!" The boss attacked again. This time—faster. Harder. One member went down instantly. Another barely dodged. The formation broke. The leader shouted. "…Regroup—!" Too late. The boss moved again. Brutal. Relentless. They fought back—but barely. And then— It fell again. Hard. Heavy. Silence returned. But no one relaxed this time. Because they already knew. The body… twitched. The voice returned. "Boss Life: 1 Remaining." Despair hit. Hard. Real. "…We're dead…" someone whispered. The boss rose again. Stronger than before. Far stronger. The party was already exhausted. Injured. Broken. They couldn't fight this. Not anymore. The leader stepped forward—but his hands were shaking. "…I…" He couldn't finish. Because deep down— He knew. They made a mistake. A fatal one. The boss roared—charging toward them. And that's when— Riven stepped forward. Quietly. Calmly. No hesitation. His presence shifted. Different. Heavy. Real. His eyes lifted slowly toward the boss. Not fear. Not panic. Just focus. His hand rose slightly. Chakra gathered. Controlled. Perfect. Behind him—his party stared. Confused. Shocked. They had never seen this side of him. Riven exhaled softly. "…Guess…" A faint pause. "…It's my turn." The boss lunged. The air cracked under its force. And Riven— Took one step forward. The chapter ends. 🔥
