Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Street Rat

The outcome of the press conference was clear to anyone with eyes: Kazir not only successfully salvaged his reputation but also thoroughly explained the previous issues, completely clearing himself of the suspicion of domestic abuse against his ex-wife.

The reporters were like battle-ready warriors, each as excited as if they'd been injected with stimulants.

This was a major news story that could cause a huge uproar! As long as it could grab eyeballs, they were eager to report it to the extreme.

Consequently, an endless stream of newspaper headlines emerged, constantly changing, but their meaning was largely the same: "Ex-Wife Lied for Attention, Just to Exploit Her Rich Ex-Husband!"

"Gold Digger Lied for Sympathy, Shameless!"

"Cassandra Hawklap is the Deceiver of the Century; Falsely Accusing a Good Person Deserves Jail Time!"

...These headlines all conveyed a core message: Kazir was innocent, and Cassandra was the culprit who messed everything up.

The entire press conference was live-streamed, and millions of people, curious, watched this "big show."

As the truth gradually surfaced, the public suddenly realized—they had been kept in the dark all along, made fools of!

During a street interview by a TV station, one interviewee angrily said, "They say we should believe all women? After Cassandra's stunt, I don't believe it anymore. You can't fully trust men, and it's the same with women. Ultimately, it comes down to a person's character."

At this point, an older woman next to him sighed and said, "I really feel sorry for Director Gray. I really want to do something for him."

Someone chimed in, "His new movie is out next week. Go see it! If it's good, bring friends for a second viewing."

"Really? What's the title?"

"the hangover."

Warner Bros.'s publicity plan was incredibly smooth, like sailing with the current.

Once the truth came out, many people became very interested in Kazir's new movie.

They wanted to see if this director really had talent, and if he could produce another blockbuster.

As for Cassandra, after the scandal's reversal, she completely became a rat crossing the street, hated by everyone.

Not only was she entangled in lawsuits, but she might also end up in jail.

The thought of her reputation being ruined completely panicked her.

"No, no! This isn't right! I should be the one laughing last! I should be the winner!" In a fit of rage, she smashed the mirror in front of her, then shattered everything else in the room.

"I'm so beautiful; the world should revolve around me! I was born to make others miserable. Why should it be my turn to be unlucky?" Tears mixed with her smudged makeup, eyeliner blurring into a black mess at the corners of her eyes. She sat on the floor, wailing, screaming out all her resentment—this was not the outcome she wanted at all.

When did things start to spiral out of control? She fell into deep thought.

"Karl Morlin! Yes, he must have a way to help me!"

She grabbed the phone like a drowning person grasping at a last straw, frantically calling Karl.

The first time, no one answered. She called again, still no answer.

She didn't give up, dialing repeatedly until he finally picked up.

"Karl, save me! I'll do anything you say! You promised to make me famous! That's why I betrayed Kazir and followed you! You have to take responsibility!"

She spoke urgently, her voice choked with sobs.

"Shut up, bitch!" Karl's angry voice came from the other end of the line.

"What did you say?" Cassandra was stunned, unable to believe her ears.

"Didn't you hear? Don't call again! I don't know you, and you shouldn't know me!" Karl's voice was cold and decisive.

"Are you out of your mind?! If I go down, I'm taking you with me! I'm in this mess because of you! If you hadn't seduced me, I never would have left Kazir! It's all your fault!"

Cassandra was furious, screaming hysterically.

"Go to hell! Don't blame others for your own stupidity! If you really loved him, would you betray him?!" Karl wasn't to be outdone, yelling back.

"Go to hell!" Cassandra trembled with anger.

"Go to hell!" Karl was equally unyielding.

The two of them cursed at each other over the phone, their voices growing louder, their emotions increasingly agitated.

In fact, Karl Morlin was also in a desperate situation at this moment.

WMA was considering kicking him out, and Vice President Lawler Dean was even preparing to pin all the blame on him.

He could only pin his hopes on his subordinate, the new director Dobby, praying that the latter's new movie would make some waves.

If the new movie became a hit, he might still be able to turn things around.

"August… Just wait a little longer, until August." Dobby's new movie was scheduled for release in August. Karl gritted his teeth, silently praying to replicate the miracle of napoleon dynamite.

"If Kazier Gray can do it, so can he! My director is much more capable than him!" He consoled himself, yet he couldn't understand how he had fallen to such a low point.

It was already widely rumored in Hollywood that WMA was behind Kazir's incident.

Now it seemed they intended to make Karl a scapegoat, letting him bear all the blame alone.

Just as the storm surrounding Kazir subsided, the hangover held its premiere.

The atmosphere was lively and tense, with reporters already waiting there early to interview Kazir.

"Kazir, Cassandra is currently entangled in lawsuits, and even feminist organizations are condemning her. What are your thoughts?" A reporter stopped Kazir, eagerly asking.

Kazir replied indifferently, his face expressionless.

As the director, he had to attend the premiere, but he didn't want to talk much about Cassandra.

The lead actors had arrived early and were already giving interviews to the media. Each of them spoke up for Kazir; after all, it was their own movie, and who wouldn't want it to do well? Naturally, they stood with their director.

Besides, Kazir was indeed a good person; he didn't look like a bad guy.

"Thank you, Director Gray."

The reporter had wanted to dig up some juicy details, but Kazir was unyielding, so he had to give up.

Walking into the cinema, Kazir paused, seeing a familiar face.

"Tom, I really didn't expect you to come. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your premiere last time!" Kazir walked over, smiling as he spoke.

"It's fine, I understand. Warner Bros. invited me, so I came to support the hangover." Tom Cruise shook his hand, a wide smile on his face.

"Thank you so much." Kazir wasn't sure if the other person was sincere, but he still felt quite pleased.
