Chapter 8 - The End of a Silent Love

It was just another normal day.

Or at least… it started like one.

I reached school, walked into the classroom, and sat at my usual place.

Everything felt the same.

The noise, the students, the routine.

But something was missing.

I didn't realize it at first.

Not until my eyes started searching for her… like they always did.

I looked around the classroom.

She wasn't there.

"Maybe she's late," I thought.

It wasn't a big deal.

People get late sometimes.

I tried to ignore it and focused on the class.

But somehow… I couldn't.

My attention kept drifting back to the empty seat.

One period passed.

Then another.

Still… she didn't come.

A strange feeling started to grow inside me.

Something didn't feel right.

During the break, I finally asked one of my classmates, trying to sound normal.

"Hey… do you know where she is today?"

He looked at me for a second and said casually,

"You don't know?"

My heart felt uneasy.

"Know what?"

"She left," he said.

"She changed schools."

For a moment…

I didn't understand.

"What?" I asked quietly.

"Yeah," he shrugged. "I heard it yesterday. She's not coming back."

Not coming back.

Those words stayed in my mind.

Everything around me suddenly felt distant.

The noise… the voices…

It all faded.

I just stood there, silent.

Trying to understand what I just heard.

She left.

Just like that.

No goodbye.

No last conversation.

Nothing.

I looked towards her seat again.

Empty.

Like she was never there.

Like everything was just… a memory.

I sat down slowly.

My chest felt heavy, but I didn't know what to do.

I didn't even know what I was feeling.

It wasn't loud.

It wasn't dramatic.

It was just… quiet.

And somehow, that made it worse.

The whole day passed like that.

I didn't talk much.

I didn't listen to anything.

I just kept thinking about one thing.

She was gone.

After school, I didn't go home immediately.

I walked around the empty corridors.

The stairs… the classroom… the ground…

Every place where I had seen her.

Every place where I had quietly looked at her…

Hoping for something that was never mine.

I stopped near the window.

The same place where I once had the chance to say something.

But didn't.

I stood there for a long time.

Thinking.

Remembering.

Regretting.

"I should have said something…" I whispered to myself.

But now…

It didn't matter.

Because she was gone.

And I was left with nothing but memories.

Small moments.

A smile.

A "thank you."

A few conversations.

That was all I had.

And maybe…

That was all I was ever meant to have.

I took a deep breath and looked outside.

The sky was quiet.

Just like everything inside me.

Some stories don't have a proper ending.

No closure.

No answers.

They just… stop.

And maybe…

This was one of them.

She was never mine.

But still…

She became a part of my story.

A part I would never forget.

I turned around and walked away slowly.

Not looking back this time.

Because I knew…

There was nothing left to see.

Thank you.
