Part 1 scourge

Chapter one

Nagareboshi

They say never cross the skies unless you know a Nagareboshi, for you never know when the dragons will return.

The palace was in its usual marble glory, white and black cracked marble flooring.

cooling the ground. The sight of my reflection in the floor made me mutter to myself. Dispite the situation I was in

For my sister was upset with me.

Though.. in retrospect I don't remember what she looks like. The eldest sister was simply put arrogant in a humble way if that makes sense.

So while the ground was marble white, the walls and pillars keeping the palace aloft? were of a black a cracked jade green representing the effects of the color of a collective of dead souls.

The eternal green flames sputtering to life lighting up the main hall as mother walked i

the first floor. We're me and my sister were was suddenly a deep, deathly green. As she decended the floor so too did the flames of the after life.

Though of course we barely noticed for we were—

what the in four winds where you thinking akahoshi! Me ears ringed like never before, once again my eldest sister broke the record for loudest voice in the home. Which always annoyed me i honestly wish it was mother. After all she's full dragon not us.

And then the festival of noise began mother flapping her arms up and down. like a bird trying to stop her squeaking children from fighting.

And yet. It was to no avail for my the youngest in our household besides me my older sister joined in the fray berating the both of us for interrupting her training.

This so called prodigy was in all actuality just a bag of lazy bones who happens. To know how to fight. And she does well those ball and chains weren't for show

Those were the said weapons she used on graduation day when they were attacked by a wild dragon. And she of all people the scaredy cat of the family killed a dragon.

But I don't care about that, i cared more for the upcoming eruption ready to happen. Having the last of our squabbling she picked all three of us up in not even a blur. We were in her arms as she threw us into the air high towards the the lower roof 100 feet in the air. I even managed to reach the top with my middle finger before we began to fall only to be caught by a long furry white rimmed tail helping us fall slowly. Till mother finally curled her tail into a snake like postion the end of the tail sticking up as if ready to strike.

And we laughed at that, mother blushing sprouting wings from her open back, white fured dress. The sight of mother blushing behind see through winged membrane was always amusing to me, and apparently thats where my sisters amusement ended, as they glared at each other.

Mother of course noticed and strutted towards us her dragon instinct obviously kicking in. She sharpened her eyes all sign of playfulness gone.

Getting ready to rear us in i began to scramble out of her furry tail fluff. And scrambled at of the way ducking and flipping as she thrashed her tail.

Ignoring me focused on my sister's scales appearing around her eyes. And as she spoke frost burst puffed from her plaint mouth. "You are to cease this foolishness!" Her tail thrashing around hit a column or two as it began to twirl in her rising anger my eldest sister Tsubaki snarled at her. Her own frost coming from her nostrils. And my older sister Rin simple got cowed by mother her head bowed low it was only then that I noticed the chain an spiked ball Rin had in her hands. How did mother manage to rear us without that hurting any of us?

"children you are better than this."

"Train you resolve—" then a strange sight passed us from behind mother to my right.men in heavily gold cloaked adornments quietly glided across the floor. their curled hats matalic like cloaks and golden and red garments gave them a mystical ritual feel to em. Something I rarely see even In the city of the living and the dead.

Mother immediately halted, flames dancing in the reflection of her silvery gem like eyes. Tsubaki straightening, as the gold procession passed to the middle of us now. Rin folding her shoulders inwardly as the room suddenly became darker from deep whispers. The palace shook and Rin began to shiver only to be covered my mothers left wing. A comforting closing of her wing over her child. As the precision all made it through the created a key like semi circle around us all leading down the main hall. Black marble glistening with the eternal flame of souls we waited queitly as even I got up and stood straight.

For father was coming. Then heavily armored scorched red men and women walked in a two rows escorting a black veiled figure a dragon mask over his face black and white rimmed robes glistening. with the backgrounds green soul filled flames as father looked straight ahead.

Straight at mother. Two men in white took off his black veil and pulled it back for him. Giving him clear view of his wife

And she was furious, " how dare you appear now during such a moment of peace!"

Father simply walked forward

"Do you know how worried we were for you as you went out galavanting with your knights i had to stay here and protect the kids!"

He simply walked and his guards in turn were one step behind. Only after he was halfway to his wide did even the flames go quiet. For they knew not to interupt this moment.

You are to return to me the crux of Gafahnan.

She simply stared at him frost beginning to cover the white marble floor. Turning the floor s slight shade of blue. My teeth began to chatter as the flames roared to life making up for the lack of heat in the home.

But it did nothing to quench her furry.

"Now." Said father

Her eyes turned pure white with anger as she stepped forward no longer covering her shivering child behind her.

No this was no normal affair anymore this was a noble fued. White graceful f

Horns began to curl the grow for the sides of her skull. The sight changing the very atmosphere of the household middle entrance area.

This is bad.

Mother took another step forward, father in turn did as well.

His guards not stupid enough to move or so I thought. For they too took a step forward.

Mother's claws claws sprang out her body beguining to glow light baby blue. As the whole area turned to frost around us.

I couldn't help but shake knowing.. they will spar again soon and this time their won't be a friend to

Hold either of them back. It was only then did i knew what I had to do. I had to move myself and move I did.

I ran my legs striding forwards my years of harsh training with father opening my lungs and— the feeling of my body being crushed filling my lungs with blood made me fade to black.

My mind went blank, the only thing here greeting me was the absolute void, am I dying? No I'm not at the gates yet, if i were dying I'd be at the gates of judgment. Not here, in this is tried moving only to feel.. nothing. I tried moving again and still nothing. My eyes opened to the sight of my mother blinked slowy at that, until I realized why I couldn't move. Chamber one of those fluid based one for lighter healings after all when magic isn't required why use it.

I sighed and water blew from my mouth I had to be careful here for one wrong breath could be the end of me. And my mother noticed

Her eyes cool yet.. sharp. Controlled. And full of emotions, dragon eyes are said to be a more honest set of eyes. You know the saying that the eyes are the window to the soul? Well for dragons its quiet literal. Their eyes like living gemstones shone and glittered like a cash of the most beautiful geodes you could think of.. and it still wouldn't cover it.

She stared at me as though I sprouted a new head, or a set of new horns. When I tried to move, something beeped, she flinched. I tried moving again and this time she put her hand on the glass making sure I knew she was there. Her eyes sparkling I realized why I couldn't move. The tank.. it was neurologically restricting me from moving. This must be a bad injury if this late stage device is doing that much. Mother notice what I realized as my eyes gave it away. I guess being half dragon has its perks huh. And for the first time since I woke up she smiled.

After that she simply regailed me on the happenings of my, I swallowed injury.

Apparently I was hit by my mother first and caught somewhat roughly by my father as my body ragdolled towards him. I heard he nearly dropped me by instinct but.. something told me mother was lying for when I asked me sister of this they simply looked away afraid to spill. whatever happened after I got hit full of pure dragon maxa.

Deadly for most a simple injury for me but again something felt off. The way she looked at me it was almost as if then I saw it. In the reflection of her silvery eyes a pair of black and white horns appeared upon my head. The black one on my right pointing towards mother as if to stab her. The white one on my left? It curved around my head like a snowy crown and interesting look but mostly bad. Thats was the silent message I was getting from her before father walked in the room and her eyes went suspiciously blank.

Then father's grey eyes looked straight at me, they were cloudy. Cloudy like that of a coming storm ready to burst if it couldn't change from grey to black at least. For you see father was half blind now. In his words thosr are the scars of war. You cannot stop it nor halt its progress. Just simply tame the beast within and move, on.

I remembered that day well.

For that day father was more open with me than usual. Suspiciously soo and now looking at my father again..

I, saw, straight pain in his eyes like that of a father coming to see his son's grave.

Then he simply flashed his eyes white, going pale then simply left without saying a word to me. The strangest thing of that exange was the way mother reacted to it.

Her eyes shifted between the two of us then her eyes nearly flashed half white before father appeared in front of me blocking my sight.

And. Im assuming mothers of whatever she intended on seeing.

For her eyes were back to their silver glory, except now. They were half dead whatever happend between them that day they didn't even sleep in the same room anymore. Mother taking turns sleeping in the beds of my sister's comforting them as an excuse to stay away from father.

How did I know this? I knew because my personal guard told me so. Treasonous as it was i appreciated her honesty.

It was refreshing for once i got out of the tank, my neck stretching. My mind and body weren't the same, along with the fact.

My family was officially broken. At the ripe age of 15 an accident I caused made my family break apart. Each going their separate ways all while living in the same home.

This was my story, the story of a nagareboshi who fractured his family. And the world never let him forget it
